Brit was, having a breakdown, to say the least. I could see why, she wasn't the best fighter. Our whole dorm is really ill-equipped for this. Bill isn't great at magic, Jamie isn't great at magic or hand to hand combat, I'm not the best when it comes to intelligence, and Brit can't fight without a wand. "It's gonna be fine," Bill grabbed his sword, "I got a better look at those papers before we left, and the tournament is dorm based. However, when we get further we are allowed less people to participate."
"Like the Vytal Festival?"
"The what?"
"Oh, right, you haven't seen RWBY. Well, the Vytal Festival is a tournament between schools that bases the matches on teams rather than single persons."
"Oh, I guess it is then. Either way, we still have a chance." Brit still just sat there."Brit?" Jamie waved her wing in front of Brit's face. "Should we be concerned?" Bill pointed his sword right between Brit's eyes, "I mean, I'm not a doctor, or vet, whatever she needs, but I think she's in shock. I mean, in her position, I would be too. She's built like a twig, there's no way she'll be able to fight, the only allowed weapons are melee."
We just sat there for three minutes, until eventually Brit came to. "So what you're getting at is that I don't have to fight?" We all looked at her. "Wait, you could hear us?" Bill set his phone down on his bed. "Of course I could. And to answer your question, no you shouldn't be concerned, and no, it wasn't shock. I have this state I enter whenever I get too deep in thought where I see and hear everything going on, but I can't move. Essentially, I devote too much energy to my thoughts to be able to do anything else." She reached in her pocket and pulled out her wand. "Oh no, you still have to fight," Bill started, "It's just that you only have to for the first three or four rounds. Then we can remove you and someone else from out roster,"
"And with me and our other disadvantage out of the way, we'd be able to win." I nodded, "Yeah. Speaking of winning, what are you planning on doing with the money?" Jamie pulled on the front of her shirt, "I have an entire three shirts, two pairs of leggings, a jacket, and a single bra. I need to use it to get some clothes."
"You do know I can just get you some, right? I have half of my father's inheritance." Jamie shrugged, "Yeah, but I don't really feel great about the prospect of taking advantage that you dad's dead." Brit looked up from the book she was already reading, "Personally, I'm going to use it to make sure a proper monument to my dad is built. He's criminally underrated, seeing that he helped create the Earth and all." We all looked over to Bill. "Oh. Me? I'm not sure. I mean, yeah, the money's cool and all, but this school is a melding pot of fighting styles and abilities, imagine the possibilities. Just being able to do anything is rewarding enough." Jamie chuckled, "Of course. Well, if you don't want the money, I'll take it."
"Oh no! I never said anything about not wanting the money, I just said I don't know what I'd do with it. I mean, I guess I could start paying for my own phone instead of leeching off Scorpio. Hey, speaking of," I knew what he was going to say. I wasn't looking forward to it, but I knew. "What are you going to do with it?"
"Well," I lowered my head, "The company is putting a lot of money in my dad's funeral. I know it sounds cliche, but I was hoping to help fund that. At the moment, I can't spare any money from his inheritance because it's all going to keeping the company alive. Until I'm old enough to take it over, we have to find a temporary C.E.O., which hasn't been easy." Bill just stared at me. Jamie walked over to me and hugged me, "It's gonna be okay."
"I know." Brit was completely unphased, as usual. Bill jumped up, "Well, Akumura and I were gonna spar for a little while. I any of you wanna come with, speak now or forever hold your peace."
"I'll go." I looked up, "I need to work on tanking hits." I laughed a little. It had only been a day since I got the shit beaten out of me, but it already seems like a distant memory. I brushed over my arm. There was still a scar there, I didn't want Jamie overworking herself again. "I'm good. I've got to study for Strider's anyway." Jamie sat back down. Brit shook her head, "Not really into that."
"It would be a chance for you to get better, you know."
"Maybe later. Right now I've got other things to take care of." Bill rolled his eyes, "Fine. But we are training eventually. I don't want any disadvantages."
"Yeah, yeah, go do your thing." Brit took out her wand and touched it to a page on her book.
Akumura was waiting for us on a practice football field. "Wait, we have a football team?" Bill sounded just as shocked as I was. "Apparently. Chasan gave me permission to use the practice field." He reached into his pockets, "I see you brought a plus 1. Well, I did to." He cupped his hands, which now had predominantly showing brass knuckles around them, around his mouth, "NAOMI! WE GOT SOMEONE!" Naomi jumped down from a light pole. "Alright!" She put her hand on her sword's hilt, "I was hoping someone would come."
