Chereads / Reincarnated into a Shingle Sea Urchin / Chapter 27 - Provoking the Elders

Chapter 27 - Provoking the Elders

After the benefactor left the room, the place feel into a silence. The headmaster relaxed his chair with a sigh.

"Headmaster Typhoon, should we trust this strange monster?" asked the 6th elder in the 6th chair.

"Based on the stories of our disciples, she saved them with no ill intentions the entire time and brought them back safely. But, some of the males in secret mentioned that she killed two of them because she felt like it," he said.

"What?!"

"She dares to kill our disciples?!" Two elders stood up in anger.

"Calm down," he said waving his hand, "Although those kids said that, it's most likely not true."

Seeing everybody in silence, listening to him, he continued on.

"I can tell there was lies sprinkled in the truth. I've seen lots of scenes like this in my childhood and teenage years all the way into adulthood. Anybody that's influential enough and is offended will distort the truth to make things worse for the offender. I've seen it and been involved with it in the past."

"They probably just offended her, it's a normal thing to see," he said calmly deducing everything.

"But-"

"Even so-"

The two elders seemed to refuse this still.

"Aren't we all similar to this?" he asked as he tapped his finger on the round table with a slight smile.

"Wouldn't any of us kill a person or torture them for offensive matters?"

Seeing the silence, he smiled even more in satisfaction.

"Everyone has their dignity and pride. I know anybody wants to kill those or hurt them that make fun of or ruin that. I've lived thousands of years seeing such things all the time. The sea tribes have their own dignity, and while they're indifferent towards us, none of them enjoy being insulted by a human; even the ones that like humans."

"I'm guessing the story went like that. I can politely ask him later about what happened to relieve your minds and solve this problem. Plus, I don't feel like offending a sea tribe monster that has reached the xiantian realm. Although our defense formation can hold out against dozens of post-xiantian cultivators, it won't last very long in front of a xiantian cultivator."

"But monster cultivators are way more powerful than human cultivators of the same level. No matter what I do, I can't read through her cultivation or anything. But she can peer into my soul easily, making this troublesome. She even managed to survive in the stomach of a saint creature and make it spit her out without coming back for revenge. I don't feel like losing everything my ancestors have started because of offending a powerful figure over a small matter."

All the elder faces changed to fear and the two elderly faces turned a little gloomy.

"For now, lets end the matter and I'll negotiate with her. If we can get this sea creature on our side, then we'll have a massive boost in defense and offense. If you'll excuse me," he said as he disappeared. The place went quiet as some left, but others stayed behind.

1st person POV...

After leaving and finding my way out, I flew into the skies. Flying back to waters, I expanded into my normal form before hitting the waters, creating a big splash. I sunk to the bottom before relaxing myself finally. Although my cultivation is high right now, there's only so long I can go without sleep. Now that I'm out of that horrible weather, I can finally take a rest. Sitting on the bottom, I quickly fell into a nap without care.

The next morning, I woke up with a refreshed and cleared mind. Feeling my vitality surging, I couldn't help but smile inwardly. Getting up, I noticed a presence in the skies. Floating to the surface, it was the headmaster.

"Good morning miss. I've gotten the token you've wanted," he said as he tossed it down respectfully. Catching it, I smiled gleefully at my new temporary base and the outside hunting grounds.

"And um. Could we have a small chat? Nothing too serious," he asked respectfully. Since I'm in a good mood, I decided it wouldn't kill my mood much to chat a little.

"Sure, what do you wanna talk about?" I asked without no emotions mixed in.

"It's about those two disciples. I've heard of their deaths and my elders want an explanation. Would it be alright?" He said sincerely with no change of his smiling face.

"Sure, I can explain," I said as I lazily rolled onto my back, "One of them tried staging a rebellion against the female disciples for very indecent reasons while inside the saint creature. I like women, so seeing such a sight, how could I stand by?"

Hearing the explanation, he was slightly surprised. But what surprised him the most was the fact that this female monster likes women. He couldn't help but be speechless a little.

"As for the second one, he said a very insensitive thing that touched my bottom line. As a female, and a member of a sea tribe, how can such rudeness from a human be left without punishment? If I left my dignity and pride tarnished like that, how will I ever return? As a senior, it's only natural that I punish them in the absence of the elders. Thus, I gave a light punishment of eating him alive. It's only natural right?" I said, looking at him.

The headmaster's face turned pale and he felt sweat running down his back. Carefully wiping away the sweat, he put on a fake smile and dryly coughed.

"Y-yes, it's only natural for a senior to punish the juniors that get out of line. As expected of a righteous and noble senior. I'll relay all this to the elders. Surely they'll understand and not take it to heart," he said with the best reassuring smile.

"I have trust you'll do that," said Kip with a light smile, that was only sinister with a mouth like that.

"Then excuse me miss senior," he said as he bowed respectively and quickly left.

Only when he was far away did he take a breather and wipe away the sweat on his forehead with a handkerchief.

"That was close. Surely a calamity would've befallen us if I made the incorrect statement. Those were clearly provoking words against the elders. But it has nothing to do with me. It's their problem. I was correct in my judgement to not make an enemy out of this fearsome monster," he said as he silently returned to the palace.

*sigh*

"Maybe I'm getting too old."
