Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Trial run

Wind felt anxious as he pulled Sea by the wrist, leading him through the parking lot. He didn't stop running until they reached Sea's car, both of them slightly out of breath. The cool evening air wrapped around them, but Wind's face still felt hot whether from the run or from what he was about to say, he wasn't sure.

Sea raised an eyebrow, leaning casually against his car. "Alright, what's so urgent that you dragged me out here?"

Wind hesitated. Now that they were alone, the weight of the conversation settled on his shoulders. He glanced at Sea, who was watching him with quiet patience.

"This is… kind of awkward," Wind admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. His mind flashed back to last night to the moment in front of his door, the words they had exchanged, the tension that had lingered between them.

Sea tilted his head slightly. "What is?"

Wind exhaled sharply. "Us."

Sea blinked, his expression unreadable.

Wind looked down at the ground, gathering his thoughts before speaking again. "I was thinking last night… We should do a trial run."

Sea straightened. "A trial run?"

"Yeah," Wind said, finally meeting his gaze. "I mean, we're not sure what this is, right? These… feelings. I don't know if I like you that way, and maybe you don't like me that way either. But we keep having these moments, and it's " He huffed in frustration, struggling to put it into words. "It's confusing."

Sea studied him for a long moment. "So, what exactly are you suggesting?"

Wind swallowed. "One month. We try it out being together or it'llbe like dating just to see if there's actually something between us. If we feel nothing, we go back to being friends. If we do feel something… then we'll figure it out from there."

The silence stretched between them. Wind couldn't read Sea's expression, and it made him nervous.

Then, to his surprise, Sea let out a soft chuckle. "You really thought this through, huh?"

Wind crossed his arms, feeling defensive. "I just… wanted a way to figure things out."

Sea stepped closer, his gaze unwavering. "And what are the rules of this trial relationship?"

Wind's breath hitched at the sudden proximity but forced himself to focus. "We don't tell anyone," he said firmly. "I don't want our friends interfering or making a big deal out of it that's all I want."

Sea hummed in thought, considering his words. Then, with a small smile, he said, "Okay."

Wind's eyes widened. "Wait, really?"

Sea nodded. "Yeah. I mean, if you want to figure things out, we should do it properly."

Wind didn't expect it to be this easy, but he found himself relieved. "Good," he muttered, trying to ignore the warmth spreading in his chest.

Sea smirked. "You look nervous."

"I'm not," Wind lied.

Sea leaned in slightly, his voice lower. "Sure you aren't."

Wind quickly turned away, opening the passenger door and getting in before Sea could tease him further.

As Sea walked around to the driver's side, neither of them realized that back at the bleachers, their friends were buzzing with curiosity.

Autumn leaned forward, whispering dramatically, "They ran off together. That's suspicious."

May grinned. "What do you think they're doing?"

Tan crossed his arms, looking thoughtful. "If I didn't know better, I'd say something's definitely going on."

The entire group started throwing out wild theories, excitement filling the air.

Meanwhile, inside Sea's car, Wind sat with his arms crossed, staring out the window. He could feel Sea's presence beside him, and for some reason, his stomach wouldn't stop flipping.

A trial relationship. One month.

What had he just gotten himself into?
