Wind arrived at the meeting spot five minutes early, something completely unheard of for him. He had spent way too long picking out his outfit, making sure it was casual but not too casual. He kept telling himself it wasn't a real date but it was just kind of like a date. But somehow, his nerves didn't get the memo.
Sea showed up exactly on time. When Wind saw him, he felt his breath catch for a second.
Sea had styled his hair differently today, and he wore a simple white t-shirt with a denim jacket, looking effortlessly good. Wind immediately felt underdressed.
"Didn't think you'd be here before me," Sea teased, stopping in front of him.
Wind rolled his eyes, trying to ignore the fact that just hearing Sea's voice made him feel shy. "Yeah, yeah. Let's go."
They had agreed to go somewhere fun. Wind had suggested an amusement park. It felt like the safest choice. It wasn't too romantic, but it also gave them an excuse to do things together without awkward silences.
The moment they stepped inside, Wind felt himself relax. The bright lights, the scent of popcorn, and the sound of laughter in the air made it easier to pretend this was just a normal hangout.
"Where do we start?" Sea asked, glancing around.
Wind smirked, pointing at the biggest, most terrifying roller coaster in the park. "That."
Sea raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure you won't chicken out halfway?"
Wind scoffed. "You wish."
The line moved fast, and before they knew it, they were strapped in, side by side. Wind hadn't been nervous before, but as the coaster climbed higher and higher, he felt his stomach tighten.
Then, the drop.
Wind let out a loud yell, gripping the safety bar, while Sea just laughed beside him. Wind could barely focus the wind in his face, the twists and turns it was pure chaos. When they finally stopped, Wind's legs felt wobbly as they stepped off.
"I hate you," he muttered, still catching his breath.
Sea just grinned. "That was fun. What's next?"
As they walked through the park, Wind found himself enjoying the little moments. The way Sea would glance at him when he thought he wasn't looking. The way they'd accidentally brush hands when reaching for something. The way Wind laughed a sound Sea realized he really, really liked.
They played games at the amusement park booths, with Wind insisting on winning a prize, only to fail miserably. After watching Wind lose three times, Sea stepped in, easily knocking down all the targets. He turned to Wind, holding out a stuffed dolphin.
"For you."
Wind hesitated, heat creeping up his neck. "You didn't have to."
Sea pushed it into his arms. "Just take it."
Wind hugged the plush toy to his chest, looking away. "Thanks."
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in hues of pink and orange, Wind and Sea sat quietly near the Ferris wheel, enjoying their ice cream. The park buzzed with life around them, but for Sea, everything seemed to fade except for Wind.
He glanced at Wind, watching him intently as he focused on his ice cream. Why is Wind so damn cute? Sea thought, a flutter in his chest that had been there ever since their first meeting.
A sudden idea popped into his head, and before he could second-guess himself, he spoke.
"Hey, Wind, let's go on the Ferris wheel."
Wind looked up at him, a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips. His voice was soft, almost shy. "Okay."
The Ferris wheel creaked to life as they climbed into one of the cabins, and as they ascended, the view of the park below them grew more and more breathtaking. Wind couldn't help but stare at the sprawling landscape, lost in the beauty of the moment. But Sea's gaze was fixed on him.
With each turn of the wheel, Sea found himself slowly inching closer, as if some magnetic force was pulling him toward Wind. His heart raced, and his hands felt clammy.
Wind, still absorbed in the view, barely noticed at first. But then, out of the corner of his eye, he caught Sea moving closer. His breath caught in his throat, and his pulse hammered in his ears.
Is he…?
Wind's body stiffened, instinctively flinching but then he froze. His heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. He could feel Sea's breath on his skin, the space between them charged with an unspoken tension.
Sea was just an inch away now. His heartbeat pounded against his ribs. The pull was so strong that he almost... almost kissed Wind.
Wind's breath hitched. He should move should stop this but his body refused. His pulse pounded in his ears as Sea inched even closer.
But at the last second, something within Sea snapped back into reality. He drew in a sharp breath, his face flushing with embarrassment.
He quickly shifted, his lips brushing against Wind's forehead instead, as his words tumbled out in a flustered, almost breathless tone.
"I… I've liked you since high school, Wind. I just didn't know how to say it."
Wind's eyes widened, his breath caught in his throat.
Sea swallowed hard, gripping the seat. "I'm not asking for an answer now. But since we're doing this trial… I want to give you all of me. My real feelings. So… let's wait until the month is finished, and you can give me your answer."
Wind remained still, his mind clouded with too many emotions at once. Since high school?
His grip tightened around the stuffed dolphin in his lap. The confession felt heavy, real, something he wasn't prepared for but strangely, something he wasn't against either.
He swallowed, trying to steady his breathing. Then, finally, he spoke, his voice softer than he expected.
"...Okay."
Sea blinked, slightly taken aback.
Wind turned his gaze to the floor of the cabin, his fingers tracing the fabric of the plush toy. "I can't say anything for sure yet," he admitted, "but... I'll try my best to give you an answer when the trial ends."
Sea stared at him for a moment before his lips curled into a small, almost relieved smile.
"That's enough for me."
A comfortable silence settled between them as the Ferris wheel carried them higher, the night breeze wrapping around them. Wind hugged the stuffed dolphin a little tighter, his heart still racing but not entirely from nervousness anymore.
After Sea dropped Wind off, he stood there in a daze, replaying everything. All he could do was smile, his heart still racing, as the weight of what happened slowly sank in.
