Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Starting a new life

Morning

Edward's point of view

I was sleeping on the sofa when i eyes fluttered open. The unfamiliar ceiling above me made me pause for a second before the memories of yesterday came crashing down.

"Can't believe I'm married now."

Sighing, I grabbed my phone to check the time.

"Oh, God. I'm late!"

I jumped up and rushed to the bathroom, freshening up as quickly as possible. After getting ready, I walked toward the bedroom where Lisa was still sleeping.

I leaned against the door-frame, arms crossed, watching her for a moment.

"This beauty sleeping here is my wife? It's a miracle."

Shaking my head, I made my way to the kitchen. I wasn't much of a cook, but I could manage something simple. Sandwiches. Quick and easy.

After preparing breakfast, I grabbed some of Lisa's clothes from the laundry basket, washed them, and hung them up to dry.

Before leaving, I scribbled a note and stuck it on the fridge:

"I'll clean the house after finishing my classes and job."

Then, without a second glance, I walked out.

One Hour Later

Lisa point of view

A dull headache pounded in my skull as I opened my eyes. The soft sheets beneath me felt unfamiliar, and for a second, I panicked—where the hell was I?

Then it hit me.

I'm married.

Memories of last night rushed back, and I groaned, burying my face in the pillow. This marriage was a disaster. I married a kid I barely knew.

(… But he's kind of cute, though.)

Shaking off the thought, I dragged myself to the bathroom to freshen up.

After getting ready, I headed to the kitchen to make coffee, but the sight of neatly arranged sandwiches and a steaming mug of coffee made me pause.

"Did he do this?"

I stared at the plate, then scoffed. "I don't want it."

Grabbing the food, I dumped it straight into the trash bin. Then, I made my own coffee and took a sip, feeling slightly better. That's when I noticed the note on the fridge.

"I'll clean the house after finishing my classes and job."

I smirked. "You'll clean, huh? Well, let me help you."

Grabbing some trash from the bin, I scattered it across the kitchen floor. Let's see how long you last, Mr. Husband.

Satisfied, I returned to my room and started getting ready for work.

Just as I was applying my lipstick, my phone buzzed.

Mia & Luna – My Besties

Mia: "Hello there! So… how is he? Is he good?"

Me: "In what way?!"

Mia: "You know what I mean!"

Me: "NO!!"

Luna (laughing): "Leave her alone, Mia."

Luna: "So, are you okay?"

I sighed. "I don't know. I don't want this marriage."

Me: "Help me get out of this."

Mia: "You got us, babe."

Me: "How do I make him leave me?"

Mia: "Avoid him. Make him regret marrying you. Do everything he hates!"

Me: "Already started. He told me not to clean, so I trashed the kitchen."

Mia & Luna (cheering): "That's our girl!"

I couldn't help but laugh. We chatted for a while before I hung up and headed to my car.

Edward's Point of view

At College

My mind was somewhere else as I sat in class.

Did she wake up? Did she like the food? Maybe I should call her. No, I shouldn't. I'd just disturb her. Maybe I should go home and check on her—

A hand clamped down on my shoulder.

"Mr. Edward, care to focus?"

I snapped out of my thoughts. Mr. Jacob, my professor, was glaring at me. Carl, sitting across the room, was enjoying the show.

After class, we headed to the cafeteria for lunch.

Carl smirked. "So… how was your first time?"

I frowned. "First time?"

"Being a husband, obviously."

I didn't reply. I just kept eating in silence.

Carl chuckled. "Your face says everything."

Then his expression turned serious. "Did you tell her?"

I shook my head. "I will. But not now."

Carl sighed. "What about dinner tonight? Let's celebrate your marriage. Bring Lisa… and her friends." His smirk was back.

I shot him a look. "No. She won't come. And I know what you're planning."

After lunch, we went back to class, then straight to our part-time jobs. By the time I was done, it was already late.

At night

Edward point of view

As I reached home, the apartment was dark.

"Guess she's not here."

I turned on the lights, took a quick shower, and changed into casual clothes. My first instinct was to check the kitchen.

The plates were empty.

"She ate the food?" A small, unfamiliar warmth spread in my chest.

Then I opened the trash bin.

My smile disappeared. The sandwiches were thrown away.

I stood there for a moment, staring. Then, without a word, I cleaned up the mess she had made, picking up the scattered trash and washing the dishes.

When I was done, I collapsed onto the sofa, scrolling through Instagram to kill time.

Hours passed. It was already past midnight.

"Maybe she's working late… or out with friends."

I debated calling her. No. That'd be annoying.

With a sigh, I put my phone down and closed my eyes.

----------------------------------------------

after sometime later

A noise from the front door startled me awake.

I rubbed my eyes, looking toward the entrance.

Lisa stood there, swaying on her feet, completely drunk.

Before she could fall, I rushed over, catching her in my arms.

She blinked up at me, her breath heavy with alcohol.

Sighing, I lifted her and carried her to her room. I gently placed her on the bed, kneeling beside her.

I pulled off her heels, tucking them under the bed. Then, carefully, I draped a blanket over her.

Before leaving, I hesitated.

"I'm sorry."

I wasn't even sure what I was apologizing for.

Then, I stepped out, closing the door softly behind me.

----------------------------------------------

As soon as the door shut, her eyes fluttered open.

A small, mischievous smile played on her lips.

"Test 1 passed."

Then, she closed her eyes and drifted into sleep.
