Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 My Lady

Lisa's Point of view

After finishing my bath, I changed into my pajamas and dried my hair. Just as I was about to lie down, laughter echoed from the kitchen—soft chuckles at first, then louder, livelier.

I clenched my fists. Oh God, it's killing me. Is she here to do the project or to flirt with my husband?

 The laughter grew louder.

 I can't bear this…!

Without thinking, I marched toward the kitchen. As I reached the doorway, I froze.

Hannah was standing close to Edward, her hand resting casually on his shoulder. She was smiling—too comfortably.

 I cleared my throat. Ahmm.

Both of them turned to look at me. Hannah didn't move her hand.

"So, what are you two doing?" I asked, keeping my voice cool, but my eyes lingered on her hand.

"We're making dinner," Edward answered casually.

"What's for dinner?" I asked, still not looking at him.

"Pancakes and sandwiches, You Want one?" he offered her with his warm voice.

Finally, I looked at him. His eyes—deep and bright—held something I hadn't noticed before. God, those eyes… Why have I never really looked at them before?

I quickly turned to Hannah to break the moment.

After exchanging a few polite words with her, I excused myself and went back to my room. But my heart was racing.

 Edward's POV

Was she looking in my eyes?

A blush crept up my face.

Man, the way she looked at me just now… it was enough to make my heart race.

After Lisa left, I shook my head, forcing myself to focus. Get it together, Ed.

But I couldn't stop my eyes from drifting toward the hallway where she had disappeared.

She looked cute in those pajamas.

After dinner, Hannah and I went back to working on our project. Time passed quickly, and soon, she stretched her arms and sighed.

"I should go," she said, standing up.

"It's pretty late," I replied. "How about staying here for the night?"

She shook her head. "No, it's okay."

"Are you sure? It's not safe this late."

 "Yeah, I'll be fine."

I hesitated. "Then let me walk you home."

 She smiled. "Alright."

We packed up our books and left the apartment.

 ----------------------------------------------

 Lisa's Point of view

 The apartment was silent.

 Is she gone?

I stepped into the living room—empty. Then I went to the kitchen to get some water.

As I opened the fridge, my eyes caught a note stuck to the door:

"It's late, so I'm walking Hannah home."

I clenched my jaw. "Why are you going with her?" I muttered under my breath. Who is she to you?

Frustration bubbled inside me, but at the same time, confusion settled in. Why am I acting like this? I just want this guy to leave me alone… right?

I let out an annoyed sigh and opened the fridge. My eyes landed on the sandwich I had skipped that morning. A small pang of regret hit me.

After drinking some water, I went back to my room and lay down.

 But sleep didn't come easily.

 ----------------------------------------------

 Edward's Point of view

"So, we need to finish the project in a week, but we've already done half of it," I said as we walked.

"Yeah, we're making good progress," Hannah agreed with a smile.

I glanced at her. "By the way, how was the food? Did you like it?"

Just like old times! "You're improved," she said, nudging me playfully.

She fell silent for a moment before adding, "So, your wife… she's been avoiding you, hasn't she?"

 I sighed. "You noticed?"

"Of course. But at least she didn't try to fight me." She smirked.

I laughed. "Would you want to fight her?"

"If you want, I'll do it," she teased.

"NO!" I said a little too loudly, making a passerby glance at us.

Hannah chuckled. "Relax, I was kidding". "But you know, Ed… even if she doesn't show it, I think she likes you."

I stared at her. "What makes you so sure?"

"Because I'm a girl," she said simply.

I rolled my eyes. "Only you would say that."

She laughed, punching my arm lightly. I probably deserved that.

After dropping her off at her house, I walked back home.

The apartment was dark when I arrived.

 She must be asleep already.

Opening the fridge, I spotted the sandwich Lisa hadn't eaten earlier. I picked it up and took a bite. Wouldn't want it to go to waste.

After finishing it, I changed into comfortable clothes and climbed into bed.

I turned off the lights, closed my eyes, and whispered, "Good night, Lis."

 Then I drifted into sleep.

 Morning

 Edward's Point of view

The sound of movement in the kitchen woke me up.

I rubbed my eyes and stretched before stepping out of my room. Lisa was making coffee, dressed in her work outfit.

 "Good morning," I said.

She barely glanced at me. "Hmm."

I took a moment to admire her. She looked strong, confident, the beautiful girl i ever seen

After finishing her coffee, she finally turned to me.

"My friends invited us to a party on Sunday night," she said.

My heart skipped a beat. Wait… did she just invite me?

I struggled to hold back my smile. "Okay."

Does this mean she's introducing me to her friends? As her husband?

God, I was drowning in happiness.

"You can bring your friends too," she added.

 "Alright," I replied.

She turned to leave but suddenly stopped and looked at me again.

"Also… give me your phone number."

 I blinked. "What?"

"Your number," she repeated, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. "So I can call or text you about important things."

I quickly handed her my phone, still in shock. She typed in her number and handed it back. Then, without another word, she left for work.

As soon as she was gone, I grabbed my phone and called Carl.

"Dude, guess what? She invited me to a party! She asked for my number! She—"

Carl laughed. "Finally! Bro, you better not mess this up."

After hanging up, I opened my contacts and stared at the number Lisa had just entered.

I thought about saving it as "Lisa" or "Lis," but none of those felt right.

Then, without thinking, I typed a name and hit save.

 "My Lady ♥️💌"

Smiling to myself, I quickly got ready for college, my heart lighter than ever.
