Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 A test

Edward's point of view

 Morning...

I woke up and went to the hall to clean the house. As I finished, I suddenly remembered—Lisa was drunk last night. I walked to her room and found her sleeping peacefully.

 "Cute."

I picked up her clothes and took them to wash.

After that, I headed to the kitchen to make breakfast. Yesterday, she threw the sandwich in the trash… Maybe she didn't like it.

"Hmm, what's her favorite food? Who should I ask?"

Then, I suddenly remembered—my mother-in-law gave me her number at the party. I took my phone and called her.

 "Hey son" she answered cheerfully.

 "Hi…"

So you remember me? I thought you forgot about your mother! She said in a teasing tone.

Hearing that, my eyes became teary.

 "You saved my number, ma'am?"

"Yes, I did! And call me Mom, okay?"

 "Okay… Ma'am—sorry, Mom!"

Take your time, son. I know what you've been through. My daughter is torturing you, right? She asked playfully.

NO! She's very kind to me! I shouted. "Sorry…"

She chuckled. "So, why did you call?"

 "I wanted to ask… what's Lisa's favorite food?"

Hearing my question, she burst into laughter.

"She loves sandwiches. She absolutely adores them!"

As soon as she said it, I pictured Lisa eating a sandwich, her mouth covered in ketchup.

 "Cutie."

"Visit us someday, okay?" she added warmly.

 "I will, Mom."

 "Good boy."

I smiled and ended the call.

"So, she likes sandwiches. But why didn't she eat mine? Is it because I made it…?"

It didn't matter—I'd keep making them until she ate one.

I prepared the sandwich just the way she liked it and left a note on the plate. After that, I took a shower and headed to college.

 Lisa's Point of the

When I opened my eyes, I was in my room. Memories from last night came rushing back.

 "At least he's a gentleman… and cute."

 "Cute?" my inner self mocked.

 "Yeah… cute."

"No, no! He's the one who destroyed your life!"

I shook off the thoughts, went to the bathroom to freshen up, and got ready for work.

After dressing up, I walked to the kitchen to make coffee. When I got there, I noticed a sandwich sitting on the table. Curious, I stepped closer and picked up the note.

"If you don't like it, please don't throw it away. :)"

I stared at it for a moment before putting it back. Then, I sipped my coffee and left for work.

 Edward's Point of view

 At college

Again, my mind was flooded with thoughts.

"Did she eat it? Did she like it? Is she okay?"

Even though I already knew the outcome. She probably threw the food away… again.

 "Edward…"

I ignored the voice, still lost in thought.

 "Edward…!"

 Still no response.

 "EDWARD!!!"

I snapped out of it as Carl shouted my name.

 "Yep!" I replied quickly.

Carl shook his head. "Man, what's up with you? Did you hit your head or something? I've been calling you for hours now!"

"Nothing, man. I was just lost in thought."

Carl smirked. "Thinking about sis-in-law, right?"

 I groaned.

"You're addicted to her!" he teased.

What happened to the almighty Edward? The same Edward who rejected every girl that proposed to him? I miss that guy. Do you know him? He said

He burst into laughter and playfully hit my head.

Hello? Are you there? The almighty Edward? He continued teasing me.

"Quit it, man!" I said, rolling my eyes.

 Then, suddenly—

 "What are you two doing?"

A voice from behind made Carl freeze in fear.

 Lisa's Point of view

"Madam, your product is a hit again! Customers love it, and we're getting positive reviews all over!" Mandy, my secretary, informed me excitedly.

I nodded as she handed me the reports. "Good work, Mandy."

After giving me all the details, she left my office.

I sighed, leaning back in my chair.

"Hmm… how do I get rid of him?"

 Ring… Ring…

 "Hello?"

"Madam, your friends are here to see you."

 "Send them up."

Moments later, my two best friends, Mia and Luna, walked in, and the three of us hugged like we were teenagers again. No matter how much time passed, our bond remained the same.

We all settled on the sofa, chatting and laughing like old times. But soon, the topic shifted—

"So, tell us about Edward!" Mia grinned.

"Show us his photo," Luna added.

 That's when I realized something.

 "I… don't have a photo of him."

 Mia and Luna exchanged glances.

"You don't have a photo of your husband?" Luna asked, holding back a laugh.

 "Yep…" I admitted.

Mia sighed. "Anyway, we need to talk. Your methods aren't working. That guy has patience! I thought he'd get angry or take advantage of you when you were drunk, but instead, he just took care of you."

Luna smirked. "Girl, he's a pure one."

Mia nodded. "I didn't know guys like that even existed."

"Now I really want to meet him. He's like a mystery that needs to be solved!"

Mia's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Let's set up a meet-up—your friends and his!"

I hesitated for a moment before agreeing. "Fine. You guys meet him and help me get rid of him."

 But then…

"Do you really want him to go?" my inner voice questioned.

 "YES!" I shouted internally.

 But deep inside…

 "No."

Luna and Mia jumped in surprise.

"What happened, Lis?" Mia asked, startled.

 "Nothing," I quickly replied.

I turned back to my inner thoughts.

"Yes! I want him to go!"

"No, I don't want him to go!"

The argument inside my head gave me a headache. Frustrated, I leaned against Mia's shoulder.

"So, how about tomorrow night for the meet-up?" Mia asked.

"Yeah, that should work. Let me text him so he's prepared—"

 I froze.

Luna raised an eyebrow. "Let me guess… you don't have his number either?"

 I looked away, embarrassed.

Mia burst into laughter. "Oh my God, Lisa! What kind of marriage is this?!"

 "Shut up," I muttered.

 "Alright, tomorrow night, then!"

 "Okay!" they both agreed.

Mia grinned. "So, what should we do today?"

We looked at each other for a second before saying in unison—

 "Let's go shopping!"

 Back at College

Carl, who had been teasing me, immediately backed away with a terrified expression.

The voice behind him asked again—

"I asked you… what are you doing?"
