CHAPTER FOUR
SOFIA POV
After the tensed moment at the dinning table, I followed Aiden out when we finished eating our food.
"I told the maids to take her things to your room, Aiden. I don't know what you were thinking, putting her in a different room." Mr. Hendrix mumbled the last part to himself.
I gulped and remained silent as we walked to the room, knowing there is a possibility that he is still angry over everything that happened at the table.
When we got inside the room, Aiden dropped to the bed taking in a deep breath while I sat down on the chair.
"Justin Harper…." He said, breaking the silence between the both of us.
"Justin Harper is my step brother and the son of Maria. Ever since they came into this family, things has never remained the same." He explained with a calm voice.
"Why do the both of them hate you?" I ask out of sheer curiosity.
"I know what they want…"He said, rising up from the bed and gazing at me. "…My father is the CEO of the Hendrix holdings, the largest corporation in the country. He is going to hand over the leadership position soon and officially retire."
"So they think he will give it to you and leave them out?" I ask, connecting the dots together.
"Yes. I find it really strange because the Harpers are also very wealthy."
"Is that the reason you chose to get married to me?" I ask.
"We both have an obligation to perform. This marriage certificate is not a mere coincidence and while we can both question how it happened, I think it came at the right time."
How can he call this marriage a blessing in disguise? I may wish to agree with him, but every time I remember all that I lost, I could not help but feel emotional about it.
"You can take a tour across the mansion; I will have one of the soldiers accompany you." He offered.
I like the idea of touring round the mansion because I know the place is a body of art.
A knock came through the door and Aiden goes to get it. The soldier he called upon had arrived and it was time to take a walk.
"I want to shower quickly and join you " I nod my head while acknowledging his comment, before following the soldier out of the room.
The tour around the mansion looked like it was going to be fun. The soldier knew how to initiate good conversation and the places he pointed out to me was simply mind blowing.
We arrived at the pool after touring everywhere. Taking a walk closer, a familiar figure rose from the depths of the swimming pool.
Justin Haper.
Great, just when I thought I was going to avoid him.
As he grabbed his towel to wipe off his body, I could see the smile on his face while staring at me.
"That will be enough for now Jackson. I want to speak with the young lady."
Jackson lowered his head, a sign of respect directed at Justin before walking out of the swimming pool.
"Come and sit down," He offered but I refused. "Don't be shy. I don't bite." He added jokingly.
After much hesitation, I approach the bench close to where he placed his towel and sat down.
"Tell me how you met Aiden. I am really interested in this love story" Beneath his words, I could sense a his cunning trait but I was not going to fall for it.
"We just have the same love story as everyone." I replied with a shrug.
Justin did not seem to be satisfied with the answer. "Did Aiden ever told you he has dated multiple women before marrying you?"
"Every man will have to experience other women before settling with the right one." I respond.
"And what makes you think you are the right one for him?" Justin's question were beginning to get irritating.
"Look, I don't know the issue you have with Aiden. All I want to do is enjoy my marriage to him" I express out of frustration.
"I wonder what Aiden has been telling you about me."
"Why will I want to waste my time talking to my wife about you?" We both turn to the entrance to see Aiden had stepped inside with a scowl on his face.
"I was trying to make your wife feel at home" Justin replied with a cheeky smile on his face.
"Listen Justin, I don't want to be a part of your mind games. Stay away from my wife." Aiden warned and grabbed my hand, leading us out of the swimming pool area.
By the time we arrive at the room, Aiden slammed the door behind him and leaned by the door, looking at me suspiciously.
"What did he tell you?" He asked.
"Questions relating to your past relationship affairs with other women" I replied.
"You don't have to listen to whatever nonsense comes out of his mouth. Justin will do anything to bring me down."
"I don't care what you do with your life Aiden. This marriage is transactional and once it is over, we can go our way."
It was a simple path and even though I can already tell it is not going to be easy, the money involved is enough to convince me to stay.
Aiden walk away from the door and move to his wardrobe, he dropped his night wears on the bed. " My step brother will continue to get information from you. I don't want you to give him that opportunity."
My ears failed to pick up what he said because my attention was onto his body.
There is absolutely no man with such a Greek god like body. The urge to rub my hand on his abs was heavy, but I maintained my composure.
"Maybe I should get you a camera to take more pictures of me." His words pull me away and I held his gaze to see the smirk on his lips.
"Don't think too much of yourself, I have seen men with a better body." I waved dismissively and tried walking over to the bed. He blocked my path.
Our eyes met and the closure of his muscular chest to my small body is almost non existent.
"Wear your clothes already!
He grabbed my hand and placed it on his abs, causing my mouths to be wide open in shock.
My hand moved on their own, travelling through the lines of his chiseled abs. He grabbed my chin and looked into my eyes, a smile laced on his lips.
"Just say the words and I will get it done"
I pulled my hands away and shoved him aside.
"We are not doing this ever!" I warned and walk away from him.
