Chapter 3 - Drama at home

SOFIA POV

The sound of the engine roared to life as Aiden's driver start the car. As we begin to move through the city, I am consumed with my own thoughts.

I cannot believe I took the offer to be with him. I turned my head to the side and find him concentrated on his phone.

Many ladies will risk their lives jumping on the opportunity to be with Aiden. He raised his head and turned towards my direction, squinting his eyes

"Why are you staring at me?" He asked

"Nothing," I replied with a smile on the face.

The rest of our trip continued in silence. I was tired and chose to lay my head by the sits and take a quick nap before our arrival at his place.

"Welcome to the Hendrix mansion" I felt a gentle tap on the shoulder and fling my eyes open.

I look at the sight of the building before us and my mouths became wide open. This looks like a design out of the movies.

The buildings were so tall that one could barely see the top. As we stepped out of the car, several soldiers approached us and took some of my belongings back inside the room.

"Welcome back Mr. Aiden. I am happy to see you after so many months." A middle aged man spoke the moment we approached the premises.

"It is nice to see you too Mr. Smith. Meet my wife." Aiden replied, pointing at my direction.

I find it awkward knowing that our marriage is actual a real deal. Mr. Smith approached me with a smile on his face.

"Welcome to the family ma'am," He turned his head to Aiden. "Your father will be happy with this news"

I stood behind Aiden as we walked into the living room. My steps falter at the sight of the most beautiful interior decoration.

This mansion was a living heaven on earth.

"You seem to like this place already"

I removed my eyes away from the interiors to Aiden, who has taken his sit by the couch.

"This place is beautiful." I admitted while taking steps to the other side of the couch and sit down.

"I was almost worried that you were not going to make it for the anniversary." We both looked up to the stairs. A grey haired looking man was walking down and he is accompanied by a younger woman.

"Father," Aiden remarked and rose up to his feet and I got up with him.

I watch him walk over to his father (Well, Aiden is a spitting image of the other man; just younger. So, I'm free to assume) and the men hugged each other for a moment. My eyes landed on the other woman beside Aiden's father with a scowl on her face as she gaze upon me.

"Who is this woman beside you?" There is irritation in her voice as she ask Aiden.

"That is my wife and I don't like the way you are speaking to her." Aiden replied, having observed the woman's face.

"Your wife?" They asked at the same time.

"I do not believe you Aiden."

Aiden turned to my direction and gave me a nod of approval. I reached into my purse and pull out the marriage certificate and hand it over to them.

"This is real!" His father expressed with disbelief on his face. "You have finally proven to me that you are my son, by listening to me."

He turned his attention to me and I could see the similarity between Aiden and the old man. They shared the same color of eyes and equally a similar smile.

"Welcome to the family my dear"

I walk over to him as he extends his arms openly seeking for a hug. While I embrace him, I notice the woman beside him still boiling in rage.

What exactly is her problem?

"The both of you should settle down, the rest of the family will soon be here to grace this lunch." He announced, after I let go.

They turned around to leave, climbing the stairs. The woman's eyes were still focused on me till they were out of sight.

"What is her problem?" I voice out my thought to Aiden, who had settled back down on the couch.

"Maria Harper. She is my father's mistress and we don't go on well with each other." Aiden replied.

"She clearly doesn't like me"

"You should not care about that. We have already gained my father's approval and that is the most important." He explained and returned back to pressing his phone.

"Why are you concerned about your father's approval?" I asked, looking at him suspiciously.

"There is more to this marriage and soon you are going to learn. Now let's go inside." Aiden got up to his feet and I follow him out of the living room.

*

After hours of settling into our rooms; separate rooms which I insisted on, we return to the living room and I watch Aiden share pleasantries with the members of his family. Some of these people control several sectors in the city.

"What is your name honey?" One of Aiden's aunties ask while we made our way to the dinning table.

"Sofia Lanchester," I replied politely.

"You are a member of the lanchesters? The Lanchesters are not far from being close to Oligarchs."

Although I found her comment insulting, I chose to keep mute. My late father was part of the great aristocratic dynasty and the fact that they choose to ignore it prove their sentiments.

The moment we settled on the dinning table, the maids brought the dishes and the moment my nose picked up the smell of turkey, my stomach grumbled.

I turned to Aiden and find him already digging into his meal. There is temporary silence on the table until the door burst open and we all turned to see a figure enter.

His presence seems to create tension in the dinning table but he did not seem to care.

"Justin, you are late." Aiden's father expressed, as the young man approached him and embrace him.

"Apologies father, I had a serious meeting that needs my attention." His eyes scanned the table till they landed on Aiden and me.

"Brought a whore to the house, that is the first.."

Aiden slammed his hand on the table, his face boiling with fury.

"Aiden sit down. Justin apologize to him at once."

From the look of things, I could tell who the black sheep of the family is.
