Zara's POV
The hallways of the Shadow Fang Pack's mansion felt colder than usual.
Or maybe it was just me, or my thoughts.
It had been days since Cassandra and Selene had told me about Hunter's plans to reject me.
Days since I had made the decision to walk away instead of confronting him.
And yet, I couldn't bring myself to leave.
Something inside me held on.
Something stupid, something I couldn't quite understand.
I was walking toward the main corridor when I suddenly felt him.
That overwhelming presence.
That powerful aura.
Hunter.
I looked up just in time to see him walking straight toward me.
For the first time in weeks.
My heart jumped, but I swallowed the feeling down.
This was my chance.
This was the moment I'd been waiting for.
