Chapter Twenty-Five
Hunter's Regret
Hunter's POV
The castle was too quiet.
To quit.
The weight of everything I hadn't said pressed against my chest, suffocating me with every step.
I was going to fix this.
I was going to apologize.
For the way I had treated her.
For the way I have made her feel uncomfortable and sad.
For keeping her at a distance when I knew she deserved more.
For pushing her away when all I wanted was to pull her closer.
I reached Zara's door and lifted my hand to knock—
But before I could, a voice cut through the silence.
"Where are you going, Alpha?"
I stiffened.
Selene.
She stood at the entrance of the hallway, arms crossed, gaze sharp.
"Go back to your room, Selene," I muttered. "I don't have time for this."
She stepped forward, blocking my way, her expression unreadable.
"You're wasting your time," she said quietly. "She's not worth it."
