Using the original Donovan's memories to figure out how the shower works in his "new" house, he quickly took one warm shower. Clark, now Donovan, got out of the bathroom after taking a relaxing shower to calm his mind.
Again, using the memories of the original owner of this body, he figured out where his suit, or rather, his uniform is located.
After getting ready for "work," Donovan looked at himself in the mirror. He was wearing a black suit jacket, black vest, white dress shirt, black necktie, black tailored pants, a silver watch, and black leather dress shoes.
Is this... really suitable for battle? Why are these our uniforms? Donovan thought as he examined himself in the mirror.
He picked up his black umbrella lying beside his bed. As soon as Donovan grasped the umbrella in his right hand, he felt a brief surge of power flowing through his veins.
He looked at the holographic screen in the middle of the room, studying the words on it once again.
MISSION BRIEFING:
TARGET WORLD: 843-Karlon-45
THREAT LEVEL: Moderate
OBJECTIVE: Eradicate four Annihiliths spotted near the capital city.
He went through the original Donovan's memories, trying to recall what to do.
So first, I have to go to the Portal Chamber, get the... "World Name Card," insert the card into my umbrella, and I'll be able to teleport to the world I need to go. 843-Karlon-45...
Donovan took a deep breath, passed through the holographic screen, causing it to vanish, and walked towards his front door. He grasped the knob, twisted it, opened the door, walked through it, and closed it behind him. He was currently living inside an apartment, and he saw other Visitors pass by him.
After exiting his apartment, he examined his surroundings. It's like I'm in a movie...
He saw flying cars, flying bicycles, and Visitors flying away while holding their open umbrellas above their heads.
Mary Poppins...?
Donovan stared at them in awe for a while, before starting his walk towards the Portal Chamber. He now knew of the places he needed to go because of the original Donovan's memories.
...
At the Portal Chamber, Donovan approached a rather stern looking man. He had black hair, blue eyes, and a rather intimidating build. He was also wearing a strange metal glove on his right hand. He was none other than Tiero.
Tiero looked at Donovan, and said with his eyes narrowed, "Donovan. You are late. It's been a while since you were late."
Yeah, because I was busy trying to calm myself down after "transmigrating"... Donovan lampooned before saying, "I overslept."
This is how the original Donovan speaks and acts. He doesn't say too much. He's quiet and mysterious... Donovan said in his mind and smiled at Tiero after finishing his sentence.
After that, the intimidating Tiero raised his right hand, and a blue card appeared in his palm. It was the "World Name Card" that Donovan needed.
"843-Karlon-45. Be quick and precise. Remember your training." Tiero said, before throwing the card at him.
Donovan caught it, brought it near his umbrella's shaft, and a thin line appeared on the shaft as the card was brought near it. He inserted the card, and he felt another brief surge of power flow through his veins. It was the same thing he felt when he grabbed the umbrella before heading out.
How did the card even fit inside that?
After that, Donovan nodded his head at Tiero, adjusted his tie, and using the original Donovan's memories on how to use his umbrella's power, he activated the umbrella's teleportation ability.
In just the blink of an eye, Donovan was gone. Tiero walked away, continuing his duties.
...
843-Karlon-45.
In a secluded alleyway at the darkness of night, a blinding light appeared. After the light was gone, a man wearing an impeccable suit took a step with his umbrella by his side.
He examined the area. Very similar to Earth, but at the same time, very different... Donovan thought as he stepped out of the alley.
He was currently in a steampunk-themed city, and as soon as he took a breath, he felt smoke enter his lungs.
Whew... Better finish this quickly.
He tapped his umbrella, and a small holographic screen appeared above his right wrist. It was a map of the place he was currently at, and he saw four red dots. Four Annihiliths... He said in his mind as he tapped his umbrella on the ground once again, and his body immediately turned invisible. This was one of the abilities of the umbrellas that Visitors use.
He began walking, and found that the streets were unusually empty. He looked at the sky to see what time it was in this world, but it was heavily filled with fog and smoke. Uh... are those clouds, or smoke? He thought as kept walking.
Donovan eventually reached a small apartment building, at least, that's what he thinks it is. He looked at the holographic screen floating above his wrist, and saw four unmoving red dots right inside the apartment building.
...Okay, Clark, stay calm. Remember your training through the original Donovan's memories... You've got this! You've got this...
He stepped inside, and his nose immediately caught the strong smell of blood! He knew what smell it was through the original Donovan's memories. He gently closed the door behind him, but it was very dark. He quietly tapped his umbrella on the floor, and a floating ball of fire appeared in his left palm.
The room was quickly filled with light, and he squinted his eyes to carefully look at the liquid on the floor.
Blood... Not good...
At that moment, he suddenly heard a tapping sound from upstairs! Footsteps! He immediately made the ball of fire disappear. Thankfully, he was still invisible. Using his powers as a Mage-type Visitor, he gracefully floated on the air and went beside a small desk. He was very near the stairs, which means he has a chance to attack the Annihilith if it were to spot him even if he was invisible.
As the footsteps stopped at the bottom of the stairs, Donovan felt a strange sense of fear. Then, the Annihilith finally stepped out of the shadows, allowing Donovan to see its features directly, even though it was dark.
His pulse quickened, his grip on the umbrella tightening, and his lower lip slightly quivered.
Although I've seen Annihiliths through Donovan's memories, it's still terrifying seeing it up close...
It had a body of pitch-black crystals, and a defining feature which is a pitch-black sphere as its head, resembling a miniature black hole. It was so tall that its head almost touched the ceiling.
An Annihilith...
The terrifying Annihilith took a few small steps, letting out a bone-chilling sound, like a distant black hole...
...After taking exactly four steps, it stopped, and turned its head to the empty spot beside the small desk, letting out that sound which sounded similar to a black hole as it did so.
That empty spot was where the invisible Donovan was currently standing!
