It was over a week and Kasela didn't see any sign of neither Regalus not Maximus. Today was a weekend and Brenda suggested they went out of the school to visit her aunt but Kasela refused as she wasn't keen on leaving the school yet. Disheartened, Brenda went alone. Feeling bored, Kasela decided to visit the library, she picked up a book and began really when she suddenly notice someone in front of her. She raised up her head and was sure to see Patricia standing in front of her.
"You are Kasela righ?" She asked disdainfully
"Yes, I am and you are Patricia right?" Kasela answered
" Yeah, I guess you know me. I came to you cause I heard some rumours about you" she said making Kasela confused.
"There is a rumour going on that you are dating Maximus" she continued with a scowl on her face.
Kasela looked at her with confusion written all over her face. How did the story turn upside down? She wondered. Moreover, this happened two weeks ago and since then she hasn't set her eyes in Maximus.
"Look, I have no idea about what you are saying, I'm not interested in Maximus, neither am I dating him. Moreover, who the hell is Maximus?" Kasela questioned with an innocent look on her face.
Patricia became flustered when asked this question. Some students were already seated and the usually quiet library had become a little bit noisy as some students began whispering.
"Don't try to act smart and pretend as if you know nothing about what I'm talking about" Patricia said angrily.
Kasela sighed, it seems her wish of studying peacefully wouldn't be achieved easily, problems were bound to happen anywhere she went.
"I honestly do not know this Maximus you are talking about and why are you so concerned over him. Are you interested in him?" Kasela queried back as she was sick of this conversation, she regretted leaving her room.
"Yeah, I do have interest in him and I don't want any other flies hovering around him" Patricia said with an air of arrogance as she flipped her hair.
Kasela felt a headache coming. "Look, I told you earlier that I do not even know this Maximus and I don't have any interest in him, so be rest assured that I won't go after him". Kasela replied calmly and turned her attention back to the book she was reading.
Patricia harrumphed and left. Kasela clicked her tongue as she lost interest in the book she was reading. She could see the students still whispering and throwing side glances at her. She stood up and left the library. She walked round the school compound and found a secluded corner close to the canteen. It was a kind of a relaxation space with a table and a few chairs under a large golden canopy. She sat on one of the chairs wanting some private the for herself.
She wondered who had spread such nasty rumour, though she was scared of Maximus she hasn't set her eyes on him since then and now rumours were being spread after a one short encounter with him.
'who spread the rumour?' Kasela wondered.
Even Regalus was not found anywhere, was he avoiding her she wondered. It isn't as if she was running after him, she only wanted to be friends with him as she had begun to trust him.
She now understood the strange glances she was receiving this past three days from her classmates. She wondered if Brenda knew about it.
"Hi there" Kasela jolted out of her though and looked up to see two student standing before her.
It was a guy and a girl both with brown hair and grey eyes. She deduced they were twins as they looked so alike. The guy wore glasses and looked at Kasela with a scrutinizing gaze. The girl wore a smile.
"Can we seat?" She asked and Kasela nodded her head.
"You're Kasela I guess and I am Jane and my brother here is Jared" the girl introduced heself.
Kasela stared at them with an unreadable expression. It seems she had really became a celebrity in this school. Everybody knew her name but she knew nothing aboutl them. Like this two seating before her, they were obviously her classmates but she could not recognize them and here they are talking to her as if she were their close friends. The person who spread that ugly rumour did successes in making her a celebrity.
"We haven't come here to make trouble with you; we were just curious about you, you know with the rumour going on that you are dating Maximus,the school bully" Jane stated.
"I don't know who spread that rumour but I don't even know this Maximus, I have no interest in him and I am not dating him" Kasela stated firmly.
Here she thought she would have some time to herself. She bit her lower lip thoughtfully as she inhaled deeply to calm herself.
