Chereads / The Star Who Fell into My Dreams / Chapter 9 - Echoes of an Unspoken Love

Chapter 9 - Echoes of an Unspoken Love

Later in the day, Dani and Steve were on their way to their company.

Steve suddenly shouted, "Shit…! Hit the brakes, man!"

Dani slammed the brakes hard. "Damn, that was close."

A lady was crossing the road, narrowly avoiding the car.

Dani rolled down the window, yelling, "Watch where you're going!"

Steve sighed, "Leave it, Dani. Let's just go."

They continued their ride in silence for a while.

Dani broke the quiet, "You know that hot girl in our group? I heard she's going out with the boss."

Steve raised an eyebrow. "The boss has a wife and a kid, right?"

Dani smirked. "He had a wife. She left him, and the kid is with him now. It's been two months. and I heard his wife was a drug dealer and was addicted to it she is a woman who will sleep with anyone who gives her drugs. Didn't you know that?"

Steve shrugged. "I'm there to work, not to gossip."

Dani grinned, leaning closer. "Well, I've got some juicy news for you."

Steve groaned, "What now?"

Dani's eyes sparkled with mischief. "I heard rumours that someone's stalking you… and it's a woman."

Steve rolled his eyes. "I never hear you talk about anything other than women"

Dani laughed. "I can only talk about these things with you, you know. Others aren't trustworthy."

Steve raised an eyebrow. "Is that supposed to be a compliment?"

Dani shrugged. "Not exactly. It's just that you don't talk much to others, so things stay safe with you."

Steve shook his head. "Even if I did talk, your conversations are always perverted or gossipy—stuff no one should be talking about."

Dani waved him off. "Yeah, yeah… I get it. Anyway, hear this—it's the one with the long hair."

Steve frowned. "Most of them have long hair."

Dani groaned. "She has the longest hair in the company, you idiot!"

Steve sighed. "Okay… so she's stalking me? Did I do something to her? I doubt it's out of love."

Dani chuckled. "I was thinking the same thing. What part of you is even attractive? I've racked my brain and can't figure it out. But maybe… just maybe… there's a chance."

Steve muttered, "Maybe…"

Dani smirked. "And there you go, lost in your thoughts again."

Wind shouts, "Maybe? My ass. There's no maybe. Vega is waiting for him."

Cloud grumbled, "Can I just give him a little lightning? Maybe then he'll remember the dream."

Wind sighed, "Are you trying to kill him? Just wait for the next dream."

Cloud muttered, "I wish it could be a long, loose dream where Vega and Steve find each other."

Steve found himself at a ball party in a grand hall. Most of his friends were dancing with their partners. He stood alone at the center, The lights dimmed slightly, soft music playing in the background. Twinkling lights surrounded him as he scanned the room for someone to hold. He was dressed in a sharp suit, but his heart felt heavy.

A girl with long black hair, wearing a stunning white dress, approached him. She took his hand, and they began to sway, their eyes locked. It was Lilith, the dream breaker.

Meanwhile, another girl rushed into the hall, drenched from the rain outside. Her dress clung to her, her hair was soaked, and her eyes were frantic as she searched for someone. Her gaze landed on Steve, dancing with Lilith. Her heart sank.

She turned and walked out of the hall, into the pouring rain. The night seemed to cry with her as tears streamed down her face, mingling with the raindrops.

A sly smile spread across Lilith's face as she noticed Vega standing outside.

Steve, however, felt a pang of confusion. Was she here for me? Was I waiting for her? I remember she asked me to meet her.

Seeing Steve's distraction, Lilith whispered, "Hey, don't worry about her. She's always like that—acting lost. That's just Vega." She leaned in, trying to kiss him.

But as Lilith closed her eyes and brought her lips closer, Steve's gaze remained fixed on Vega outside.

Steve thought, Vega… I know her. She's the one who let me rest my head on her lap. I could hear her voice in my head; it was so light that I could feel what she felt. She is the one who heard all my depressed thoughts. I know her. I always wish to say that I love her we couldn't talk but we could feel each other until now.

Steve gently pulled away. "I'm sorry, I have something urgent."

Lilith's smile faltered. "She's mad. Stay with me."

But Steve didn't listen. He let go of Lilith's hand and walked out of the hall into the rain, toward Vega.

"You're the one who…" Steve began, but Vega stepped further into the rain before he could finish. She turned to him, completely drenched.

Steve asked softly, "Who are you?"

Vega's voice trembled. "Who am I to you?"

Steve followed her into the rain. "Vega… it's you."

Vega nodded, her eyes glistening with tears. "Yes, I'm Vega. I came here to be with someone."

Steve's voice was gentle. "Did you change your mind?"

Vega shook her head. "No… but that someone was dancing with someone else."

Steve stepped closer. "Can you forgive him?"

Vega's lips quivered. "Maybe… if he lets me stay with him till the end."

Steve's heart ached. "What should he do?"

Vega opened her arms, and without hesitation, Steve pulled her into a tight embrace, the cold rain soaking them both.

They stay there for some time.

Moon observed softly, her voice tinged with gentle amusement, "You took a bit long to get it, didn't you?"

The little stars darted across the sky, their tiny lights flickering with unrestrained joy. They twinkled and danced, their happiness radiating like a thousand fireflies celebrating a long-awaited reunion.

The clouds, overwhelmed with emotion, began to tear up. Their tears fell as a soft, warm rain, pattering gently against Steve's window. The wind, no longer cold but filled with warmth, slipped into Steve's room. It brushed against his hair, patting his head like a proud parent comforting a child.

And there, in the quiet of the night, a smile spread across Steve's face as he slept. It was a smile of peace, of understanding, of something finally falling into place. The room seemed to glow with the collective joy of the stars, the clouds, and the wind, all celebrating this small but profound moment.

[Nerds who need more details: Steve could feel her in his unconscious mind, but while he is in the conscious mind, he couldn't realise it, but he felt the feeling of being loved and giving it back. The dream till now was a 'real dream' in which he was a different version of himself, disconnected from his waking life. But this dream was different. It was a bridge connecting his conscious and unconscious mind. Memories could flow from his conscious mind to his unconscious, giving him all the memories he needed. In this state, he wouldn't know he was dreaming.

However, if the flow went both ways, it would create a loose dream—a dream where he was in control of everything, fully aware that he was dreaming.

Lilith, as a celestial being, couldn't directly kill another celestial being without consequences. But if the circumstances of the dream led to Vega's death, then Vega would die for real. Lilith's plan was to make Steve fall in love with her, then inflict pain by hurting Vega and driving her to her death.

Lilith had the power to control dreams, but if she completely went against the natural structure of the dream, it would collapse, killing everyone—including herself.]
