Chapter 18 - Hunting The Dreadful Essence

"Wait, you're talking about me?!" Trick asked in shock, replying his master with a bemused stare.

"Well of course, after all you were the first to notice the wave of ominous aura that went over the stadium even before I did." Astravan bent to Trick's level before patting his head once more.

"That makes you perfect for the job kiddo."

Trick thought for a moment on his master's words, his eyes creasing under the mountain of hope his master placed upon him before his mind flashed with a baleful memory.

"Tell the bearer of that energy that when I meet him— I'LL KILL HIM!" Trick suddenly felt a heavy thud in his heart as he pondered the threat issued by the sinister void beast that was Oneiros.

'Should I tell master?' Trick thought, bitting onto the end of his lips in as he raced through a multitude of thoughts.

After but a moment of thinking, Trick then decided to recount everything that happened within the world to his Master, including the calamitous words of Oneiros.

"I see." Astravan muttered, his former smile fading into an ocean of rage.

"So that's how it is." Astravan's face adopted a bitterly furious look as he mumbled a few words once more.

Astravan then rose his head up, turning his attention to Trick who had a concerning look of worry etched all through his face.

"For what he did to everyone in the stadium, and of course my precocious little trickster, I've also been itching to…"

"Rip that bastard to shreds." Astravan's eyes gleamed in an eminent purple glow as a cloud of violent aura slowly radiated through his entire body.

Trick's eyes then shone in amazement for his master's violent aura, reflecting the radiant shine off his crimson eyes.

"BESIDES, I'M THE UNBEATABLE MASTER TRICKSTER!" Astravan added before proceeding to strike yet another cool looking pose.

"You're too cool master!" Trick voiced aloud, his eyes brimming with pure elation as he watched his master's stance.

"Of course I am. Now let's find out where that bully void beast is shall we?" Astravan asked rhetorically, stroking the ends of his tidy beards.

"Bu—t." Trick mumbled in question, his doubtful words being interrupted by his master's abrupt movement.

"Just trust your instincts kiddo." Astravan yelled while swaying his arms in the air behind him as he walked away from Trick, leaving the child some room.

Trick then itched onto the side of his head as he was left with even more questions.

'Trust my instincts huh?'

Displaying the visible likeness of an Azure Lilly whose petals bloom under the radiant rays of the morning sun. Trick closed his eyes firmly shut, heaving in a gentle breath.

'Hmm? So he's already gotten the hang of it?' Astravan wondered in the innards of his thought as he observed Trick's demeanor, noting everything from the child's stance to the way he took in controlled breaths.

For as long as Trick knew, he had a unique sense for trouble that spurred randomly atimes.

However that sense would often make the danger known by planting a maddening feeling of unease within him. And this somewhat erratic feeling was often mysteriously related to monsters.

And most usually—

VOID BEASTS.

'That same sinister aura that made my skin crawl in panic, the same eerie energy that planted a dreadful sensation within my heart and the very same ominous aura that bore the innate nature of evil…' Trick played through a console of thoughts as his mind seemed to race him across the entirety of the stadium in search of Oneiros' whereabouts.

'FIND IT!'

It was as though Trick had slipped into an enigmatic state of consciousness within the boundaries of the unconscious, as something like his innate being surfed through the castle, moving at unbelievably incredible speeds.

'The entire castle reeks of his repulsive aura.' Trick's eyes remained closed and his lips sealed shut while his senses raced across room after room in search of the void beast's energy signs.

Yet this was a nigh impossible task since everyone was currently in a horrific situation within their minds, trapped in a forever looping nightmare whose ruler was Oneiros himself.

And this tricky situation meant that the void beast's aura would also be present throughout wherever these people were, meaning his essence would be…

Everywhere as well.

A very cunning plan for a very intelligent void beast like Oneiros.

'Tch, it's literally everywhere, that sly bastard!' Trick voiced aloud within the innards of his mind in pure frustration.

'It's like trying to find a drop of blood in the Irenic ocean!' Trick tightened his already shut eyes in deeper concentration, immersing himself some more within the ominous aura.

'Deeper, go even deeper!' Trick had finally gotten a trace of something different.

Within his crazed search for the sinister aura he found something, an energy much different from the one the dreaming audience bore.

This one was dyed in a slightly lighter red hue, encompassed with a darkness that held onto the red essence with so much vigor that the two seemed inseparable. Tightly bound for all of eternity.

'This aura—'

'it's not it.' Trick dove deeper into the aura, grasping and observing it some more.

'It's too different from Oneiros'…" Trick wondered within his mind, feeling the energy to verify his earlier claim.

'Which means— it must belong to another void beast!' Trick pondered, the eyes of his thought widening in his shocking realization.

'That's not good…"

'However, compared to the sinistrous aura I felt from Oneiros—' Trick's senses continued to race in search of Oneiros, whistling past the other sinistrous energy he had discovered.

'It's much weaker.'

Trick was getting closer and closer, diving and submerging his consciousness within the abyssal essence of Oneiros' aura.

'It's much closer, I can feel it!'

'Just a little bit more, just a little bit more and I'll reach it! Only a little while and I'll find the main energy bearer, it's only a matter of time and I'll discover where he's lurking!'

Trick was finally getting closer, closer than ever before as he was currently bathing himself within the thick energy of the void beast while flowing towards it to find the diabolic source.

Outside of Trick's mysterious search for the aura, Astravan leaned against the wall reading a mysterious little book.

His eyes then redirected away from its pages as he observed Trick, his face spreading out with a proud smile for the child.

'Hmm, that kid really is something special.'

'He's doing what only a select few artifact hunters could barely manage. And with so much precision at that.' Astravan let out a content sigh, flipping through the pages of his book with excitement.

'However, it's almost impossible to find a high ranking void beast—' Astravan pondered, a pleased smile still etched across his face as he read through his book eagerly.

'Who doesn't want to be found.'

Trick followed the ominous aura to where it led, passing room after room after room. Until it took him to the lower chambers of the mysterious castle.

'Yes, yes I'm finally there!' Trick desperately went into the end of the energy's route. The aura's flow ending in a wide hall more spacious than any he had come across.

But what met him was a rather shocking sight.
