Chapter 16 - Dying Without Goodbyes?

Overcome with dread, Trick then stepped back, almost falling in the process as the mouths within his palms stretched out a wide grin before chuckling derisively at him once more.

Before Trick could even get a slight understanding of what was going on, his entire body screamed in agonizing pain as a multitude of eerie mouths appeared through his arms and stretched through the entirety of his body.

All over Trick's body was now filled with chuckling lips which did their best to ridicule him, both in soft whispers, and in loud yells.

"That's it, be lost within the innards of your helpless agony." Oneiros uttered with the voice of innumerable speaking entities.

"Cling unto the last warmth of tranquility you have left and watch it quench under the chilling storm that is fear."  Oneiros' declared in the hearing of Trick in a grim tone.

"And then—"

"Embrace your inevitable demise." Trick held against his ears, trying his best to salvage the infinite mocking laughs that ridiculed him.

However the more he covered his ears, the louder they became.

Staring at the depressing state of the child, Oneiros' smile then stretched out even more, growing so wide that it horridly touched the temples of his head.

"This is my idea of a heartwarming dream—AS A VOID BEAST THAT IS!" He finished his statement, walking over to Trick to finally do away with the annoying child.

And as he inched closer to the child, knowing his approaching death, Trick couldn't help but swim once more within the oceans of his thought.

'Is this it?' Trick held onto his head tightly under the maddening yells that filled the realm.

'Is it all over?' Trick managed to peer at the void beast that came his way bearing dreadful intentions.

Trick wondered in thought once more, his breathing growing more unstable and his heart throbbing rapidly the more he pondered his dire situation.

'So—I'm just gonna die like that, just like that?!' Tears suddenly began to well up in the eyes of the 13 year old child as he reminisced through a flood of memories. Soothing memories of those closest to his heart.

'I'm not even gonna be able to say goodbye?—' Trick gritted his teeth, a little stream of blood escaping his lips under the pressure as more ridiculing jeers plagued his hearing.

'To Charlotte? To Fiona? To Brenda? To Mrs Clorette? Even to the vile bunny? and…' Trick's clenched fist tightened as his eyes flooded out with bitter tears of sorrow.

"To master Astravan?!' Trick shut his eyes to combat his overflowing tears, much to the pleasure of Oneiros who continued his death stroll towards Trick.

Trick's situation was not just dire…

It was insurmountable.

The world was breaking apart, leaving holes that dropped straight into the dreadful abyss, the sky was bathed in a red glow having a large pair of lips that directed their sickening laughs at Trick, and a figure so horrifyingly powerful was walking towards him to cut his life short.

And even he himself, even his very own body grew mouths that mocked him with such a hated scorn he had never witnessed once in his life.

However, even within the dark clouds of fear that now filled Trick's heart, going deep enough, if you just went past the fear, the agony, the horror and the regret.

You would still find a flame of hope, struggling desperately to stay aflame.

Like a star moth that grasps desperately unto the darkness at night, yet sheds that very darkness to become clothed in the radiant light which floods the earth in the day. Trick's eyes glimmered in remembrance of special words from the one that stood closest to his heart.

The words of his master.

"Trick…" Trick's eyes tore open as he remembered the words of his master.

"If you ever feel afraid." The mollifying words of his master continued.

"If your heart is ever overcome with sadness, that you feel helplessly weak."

"Just call my name kiddo—"

"AND I'LL SAVE YOU IN THE COOLEST OF FASHIONS!"

Oneiros walked towards Trick who now stood still, the mouths across his body still trembling in mockery of the child. It was finally time, time to kill the annoying child.

"Die with your heart clothed in agony, die knowing that from the very beginning, your death was set in stone." With one depressing announcement, Oneiros was in front of Trick, ready to deal the killing blow…

Before something strange found its way to his hearing.

The hushed mutters of Trick mumbling something inaudible.

Oneiros' face creased in annoyance.

"What exactly do you speak, child?"

Trick then slowly raised his head, his eyes glistening with the same crimson glow of forced boldness Oneiros despised.

"I…said." Trick heaved in a large breath, placing all of his eggs of hope in but one basket. The basket of trust for his master's words.

"MASTER!" Trick yelled aloud with everything within him.

"PLEASE SAVE ME!"

What were the chances…

What were the chances that Trick's pleas for help would leave his trembling lips, what were the chances that he would think this at that very moment.

And what in actuality were the unlikely chances that…Trick would find some solace.

In an instant, a chilling breeze of aura washed over the entirety of the dreadful realm, freezing everything in place.

The lips paused, laughing no more, the world froze, shattering no more and Trick's fear seized, gripping him no more.

Because this aura was all too familiar.

WHOOSH!

"Master?"

A gust of purple energy flooded the realm, causing Oneiros to jolt in bewilderment.

'Such aura..' Oneiros muttered before letting out a shout within his mind.

'SUCH POWERFUL AURA!'

Trick then felt a slight burn within his body, the mouths that formerly filled him burning into ashes and flickering into the air.

And then came another pulse of energy, this one being more vicious than the last as it cast an earthquake like trembling across the realm, before beginning an unprecedented erosion.

The world started to shatter under the sheer weight of the purple aura, cracking and burning out the scarlet skies and the ground beneath Trick's feet.

The purple energy seemed to be eating every thing that constituted the grim realm, leaving a pure white area wherever it had eroded.

In essence, this cataclysmic aura was quickly destroying the realm.

But just before the world was fully destroyed, a threatening voice made its way to Trick's hearing.

"Tell the bearer of this energy that when I meet him—" Oneiros' face contorted into a furious frown, a scowl that shook violently on his face, almost as though he was battling against something, or some hidden emotion.

"I'LL KILL HIM!"

These were the last words Trick heard before everything went dark. He felt himself being thrust through limitless worlds, his back seeming to shatter through a glass-like barrier before his enigmatic motion finally ended.

Emerging from the darkness, Trick then opened up his eyes to a surprising sight.

"WELCOME BACK KID."
