Robert Whyte wasn't by any means handsome but he was self aware and used the little that he had to his advantage.
Tall, broad shouldered with a boyish face that made him look years younger than his real age.
The forty five year old sauntered on to the Shadowhurst property like he owned the place.
Right now he was smiling at Lisa, to others that smile seemed harmless but to Lisa those eyes were predatory and hid the evil that lurked on the inside.
Robert turned his full attention to Lisa, "don't forget your debt to me. I kept your brain dead mother alive at the hospital because you refuse to pull the plug. It was costly and not to mention ever since your accident I pay that feisty caretaker Gloria a hefty salary to care for you. Make sure you have a roof over your head, properly attired and meals in your stomach and this is the thanks I get."
"It's not that I'm not grateful for all you have done but I just need more time."
Robert snapped, "What are you thinking! Opportunities like this hardly come our way. Mr. Hyde is an underworld boss and owns many casinos and strip clubs here in Las Vegas. He's a very powerful man and we can't afford to upset him since his connections are no joke. Lisa, if you plan to make it in this industry you need to just trust me."
Warning bells rang… her mother's voice repeated in her ears 'trust no one'…was it her manager's intention to pimp her out to the highest paying clients for cash?
She believed that Robert was behind the death of Helen, her namesake's mother.
By the time Lisa found out Helen had passed Robert had already paid for her remains to be cremated so there was no way to get a second autopsy done.
Lisa had her suspicions that Robert killed her namesake's mother so that he could harvest her organs for cold cash but there was just no way to prove it.
He had also been the prime suspect on her list for wanting her namesake dead until she found out that he had been doing an interview around the time she was being murdered.
So since it wasn't Robert the murderer had to be one of the men on his client list that he was scamming.
Robert pocketed money everytime Lisa went on a date with one of his clients.
Could one of those clients also kill her namesake in a fit of rage after finding out that Robert had been deceiving all those men?
In his pant's pocket Robert kept a small appointment book, a diary of sorts with the names and information of the men he had her namesake date in the past.
Should Lisa manage to get her hands on that diary it would narrow down the list of potential candidates making it easier to comb through all the rejected suitors.
Millicent's overprotective words rang out again but Lisa felt like she didn't have a choice.
She had gone along with what Robert recommended up until now.
Until Lisa could find a way to get out from under his control.
That's why she took this job in Las Vegas to make money quickly and move out from under the roof that she shared with Robert.
Sensing that Lisa was trying to gain independence is this why Robert deliberately followed her from Los Angeles to Vegas?
Seeing the wavering look on Lisa's face gave Robert instant relief, "Like I said before, you don't know how lucky you are. Many other girls would kill for this opportunity but Mr. Hyde only wants you. Why are you not moving, come with me!"
"You want me to go with you now? Did you forget that I'm working as we speak?"
Robert scoffed, "What you're earning will look like chump change in comparison to what Mr. Hyde is willing to pay. I've noticed ever since that minor accident you have been acting strange isn't it time you get your act right and do as you're told."
Only Robert would call someone coming back from the brink of death a minor accident.
Lisa had come back to life in an empty room with strangulation marks around her neck.
It was obvious that her namesake had gotten into a fight with someone.
The room was in disarray from a struggle and it seems the person had run off after they thought Lisa was dead.
Lisa said firmly, "I'm sorry Robert but I won't be going with you."
The mask of congeniality dropped from Robert's face and as his face turned a mottled red with anger as his true colors showed.
"I'm afraid you leave me no choice then," said Robert as he took a small perfume bottle from his pocket and sprayed something in her face.
Surprised by his action Lisa inhaled the mysterious substance and coughed in reaction.
Whatever it was made her body start to tingle almost instantly, was this another illegal drug, not the cheap garden variety but the expensive stuff.
"Lisa, do you understand what you're feeling?"
"You drugged me," answered Lisa. "You won't get away with this."
Lisa's voice sounded breathy as if she was struggling to breathe properly.
She started to feel dizzy as Robert led her towards his newest car, the one Lisa believed he purchased from the sale of Helen's organs.
Is that what he had planned for Lisa when she was of no further use to him.
Robert was talking to her, but she hadn't heard a word.
Her mind was screaming, 'Run! Run inside now!'
He looked down at her contemptuously, and for the first time Lisa saw something in his eyes that wasn't congenial or smiling.
For an instant the real monster had shown through those brown eyes of Robert Whyte.
"I should have known you'd sense it," he said. "My little Lisa, finally turned eighteen, with those luminous eyes, hair, and skin. If you were taller and more willowy, you'd easily pass for royalty amongst our kind. You don't know how long I've waited for this moment."
Lisa asked brusquely, "You're no ordinary human, what are you?"
