Chereads / Never Trust A Shadow After Dark / Chapter 9 - Wasted energy

Chapter 9 - Wasted energy

His fingers touched her own, and a jolt of energy like static jumped between them.

Amused by the instant fear in her shocked reaction he laughed brazenly then boldly wrapped his hand around Lisa's and pulled her closer to him.

She forced herself not to pull back, if Lisa wanted to catch him off guard and make her escape then she needed to remain calm and keep her wits.

Lisa couldn't show how much she loathed Robert's touch and thanks to the drug she was still having too much trouble breathing through the power of his magic.

Robert's ego was getting the best of him and probably thought he was a big, powerful being to be able to call this much power.

Even though Lisa was a novice and a baby being introduced to magic for the first time she could sense that there was something off about his power.

Robert was worse than a baby witch if he couldn't control his magical powers better than this.

His magic was wild and coarse, untamed it was just a brush of wasted energy.

She wondered what he was doing with all this magic and how Robert managed to hide it from the public.

He must be wasting a lot of magic by just letting it idly swirl around.

Still, the fact that Robert could manipulate this much energy meant that he had some kind plan as to what to do which probably did not bode well for Lisa.

Lisa couldn't breathe, kept gasping loudly but Robert didn't seem to care that she could be having an allergic reaction to the unknown drug he sprayed in her face earlier.

He kept leading Lisa forcefully in the direction of the parking lot, so that she stumbled more often than necessary.

The only thing that kept her from losing her footing and falling to the ground was his arms.

"Let's not pretend, Lisa. You want me, I want you. Let's forget about the other men and let me taste you first."

"Wait," Lisa cried, "just wait. Aren't you in a rush just give me a second to catch my breath."

While he fumbled with the keys to open the car door Lisa used that opportunity to remove the small diary.

That was poking out of his pocket and slipped it into her own unnoticed.

The car was dark and heavily tinted.

Lisa could see outside, but no one could see Robert caressing her on the inside.

As he reached from the backseat where he deposited Lisa, Robert reached between the two front seats to turn on the car engine.

The radio was on and the volume blared music, so he turned it down and turned on the air conditioner after.

Now that he had seen to his comfort and the ac was blasting at a cool temperature.

Robert turned his attention to Lisa pulling her towards him on the backseat of the car.

Despite her protest he deliberately wrapped his arms around her waist.

Managing to pin Lisa's arms down to put a stop to her movements.

She supposed he was trying to be gentle and caring given the nature of their relationship.

It was still awkward, he had dated her mother Helen before she died, had he transferred those affections to the daughter.

Robert was truly a despicable piece of trash with no conscience.

Lisa lay panicked beneath him and he wasn't bothered in the slightest.

His tainted magic oozed from his pores, Robert's abuse of power was oppressive, and she couldn't relax.

Even if she screamed for help the car was probably soundproof and no one would hear from the outside.

A tear slid from her eyes and hit her wedding band.

The ring reacted to her teardrop, letters started to glow a bright red and formed a single word it read as 'Banislav.'

Following instinct she screamed out loudly "Banislav!"

He nuzzled the side of her neck. "I've changed my mind, you won't be going to Mr. Hyde tonight, Lisa."

Robert ran his hands through the strands of her black hair, letting it slide through his fingers so that he held Lisa's face in his big hands.

"There will be no one else for either of us after tonight, Lisa."

"Stop! We shouldn't be doing this. I got married last night!"

Robert frowned while holding her face, it was obvious he believed her and saw the truth in her eyes.

"The human idea of marriage is a joke, nothing but a flimsy piece of paper. Right now I'm going to show you what it means to be mated for life to our kind."

"Get off me you freak! I would never want to do this with you even if you were the last man on earth."

"Stop moving, Lisa. Looks like you need some more of this love potion."

He kissed her softly after spraying Lisa some more with the supernatural aphrodisiac.

Then said gently, "Take off the dress."

"Why are you doing this to me?"

Robert ignored the question and continued to kiss her both his hands still holding the bottle, so that it was just his mouth on Lisa's.

He straddled her the way a dog hovers over its bitch.

Lisa wished she couldn't turn her gaze away from the obvious bulge in his pants.

She needed to keep her eyes at face level seeing Robert turned on by her was embarrassing.

It was disgusting and frightening feeling all these deprecating emotions at the same time.

"Stop it," sobbed Lisa, "For crying out loud, just stop!"

Lisa struggled to get out from under him, but he was too big, too heavy.

She felt trapped like Lisa was running out of time.

There was a sound of breaking glass, brittle and thin, the sound was ear shattering.

Glass burst inwards and being on top of her the impact hit Robert squarely in the back.

Robert yelped as the shard of glass got embedded in his back and blood dripped onto Lisa's white dress.

After seeing what was occurring inside the car door was ripped off the hinges and thrown aside.

Then a powerful hand pulled Robert's body off of hers then she smelled something burning as Robert's screams dissipated into thin air.

Silence filled the inside of the car and Lisa felt relieved but was also too scared to move.

It was Bane. "I just can't take my eyes off of you for even a second."
