Chapter 26 - Uneventful Movie

The day had felt really long, but that was for the better.

In Sunny's opinion, it was a good day.

As they left the mall, he found himself watching Nephis, a small, amused smile tugging at his lips.

She wasn't skipping exactly, but there was a lightness to her steps.

He never thought he'd see her like this.

'What a little girl. Changing Star my ass.'

The thought made something warm settle in his chest.

---------

The journey back was quiet and peaceful, the soft hum of the vehicle filling the space between them.

Nephis leaned against the window, looking out at the world with a thoughtful expression.

Sunny didn't disturb her.

When they finally arrived, he set the bags down by the door and, without warning, lunged at Nephis.

She barely had time to react before he caught her, pushing her onto the couch with a smirk.

"Sorry," he murmured, leaning over her. "I couldn't control myself since you looked so happy."

Before she could respond, he lowered himself, capturing her lips in a kiss.

Nephis didn't hesitate to kiss him back.

A minute later, they stopped.

Even if they were masters, they found themselves breathless.

Sunny pulled back just enough to meet her gaze, watching the slight flush paint her cheeks.

"We should eat." he muttered, lips barely brushing against hers.

Nephis hummed, her fingers tracing idle patterns on his arm. "We should."

Neither of them moved for a moment, still caught in the afterglow of their kisses, but eventually, Sunny pushed himself up and stretched.

He made his way to the kitchen, preparing something simple while Nephis lounged comfortably on the couch, watching him with that quiet intensity of hers.

They ate in relative silence, but it wasn't uncomfortable. If anything, it was peaceful.

After finishing, Sunny leaned back and exhaled. "Alright, we should watch something."

Nephis tilted her head slightly, considering. "What about The Forgotten Shore movie?"

Sunny froze mid-motion, turning to look at her as if she had personally offended him.

"You want to watch that?"

She nodded, completely serious. "It would be interesting."

Sunny groaned, running a hand down his face. "Neph… that movie is awful."

She simply looked at him, waiting.

He sighed. "Fine."

A few minutes later, they were settled on the couch again, the projector flickering to life.

The opening scene played, and almost immediately, Sunny regretted agreeing to this.

Nephis' expression remained neutral, but he could tell she was already displeased.

As the movie progressed, their displeasure only grew.

The battles were soft to the max the struggle of the Forgotten Shore turned into nothing more than a lighthearted adventure.

But the worst offense?

Nephis and Caster were portrayed as a couple.

Sunny stared at the screen, horrified. "I… what?"

Nephis' expression darkened. "This is inaccurate."

"Inaccurate?" Sunny scoffed. "Neph, this is a crime."

Her fingers curled into a fist. "I would never-"

On the screen, the actors playing Nephis and Caster shared a look, soft music swelling in the background.

Sunny turned to look at Nephis, expression blank.

She exhaled sharply, and before he could react, a sudden burst of heat filled the room.

...

The next second, the projector burst into flames.

"…Nephis."

She blinked, looking almost as surprised as he was.

The fire quickly died down, leaving behind the remains of what had once been his expensive projector.

Sunny closed his eyes, inhaling deeply. "…Do you have any idea how much that thing cost?"

Nephis looked at the destroyed projector, then back at him. "It was a mistake."

He sighed heavily, rubbing his temples.

As if a spark lit his head, he gotten an idea.

Smirking, he said. "You deserve to be punished for this."

Before she could respond, he moved.

One second, Nephis was sitting upright, and the next, she was pinned beneath him, his weight pressing her into the couch.

Sunny smirked. "I think I know just the punishment."

Without waiting for a response, he leaned down, capturing her lips in another kiss.

Xcept this one was more fiercer.

She responded immediately, her hands coming up to tangle in his hair as she kissed him back just as passionately.

The heat between them grew, and before he knew it, his lips trailed lower, pressing against the curve of her jaw, down to her neck.

He paused there for only a moment before biting down gently, sucking just enough to leave a mark.

Nephis let out a slow breath, her fingers tightening in his hair. "Sunny…"

He pulled back slightly, studying the small mark he left against her pale skin, satisfaction gleaming in his dark eyes.

"There," he murmured. "Now everyone will know you destroyed my projector."

Nephis huffed, though her lips twitched faintly. "And if someone asks?"

Sunny shrugged. "Tell them you committed a terrible crime and had to pay the price."

Nephis rolled her eyes but didn't argue.

Instead, she ran her fingers through his hair, watching him with a softer expression. "You're ridiculous."

Sunny smirked. "And yet, you're still here."

She hummed in agreement, pulling him down into another slow, lingering kiss.

The movie might have been a disaster, and his projector might have been destroyed, but somehow, the day still ended up being perfect.
