In a large library, filled with various books, you can see the figure of a boy with his eyes closed and his feet crossed, sweating profusely. He seemed to be slowly suffering. The white-haired figure opened his eyes.
"Kukukuku, are you done?"
"Yeah."
It took me a full month to steal enough samples to replicate the authority, but I finally succeeded. I could now wield the same power as that thing.
"I'm happy for you, Lucien. Kukukuku, but don't you have anything to say besides that?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you think I didn't notice that part of my body was swallowed by you?"
"Hahahaha. So you noticed. You caught me."
I thought I had outwitted his perception, but I was wrong. Without a doubt, I failed.
"Kukuku, what kind of idiot would I be if I didn't realize I was being eaten?"
"Good point, but now that you know, what are you going to do?"
Closing my eyes, I asked the void. I still had no confidence in beating this being, but I was confident I could escape, as long as he didn't get serious, of course.
"Nothing, you just ate a small part of my body. That doesn't affect me at all, but I must admit that you are possibly my natural enemy."
"How flattering."
"Seriously, you have a very interesting set of skills."
"I know."
"Well, I wasn't going to ask you for anything at first, but since you took advantage of me a little, I want you to do me a small favor."
"Speak, what is that favor?"
I was in a good mood at the moment; I could do this being a favor as thanks. After all, I did gain tremendous power from him.
"I just want you to make a certain individual leave; he must be arriving at the elven kingdom soon."
"Oh, and the reason?"
"He's coming to rescue me. When you breached the barrier, he sensed me; he must have thought I was freed."
"Don't you want to get out of here?"
"Kukukuku, if I leave this space, he will come quickly and the result will not be very good for me."
"So you say it's not time to leave yet."
"Correct."
The favor he asked of me didn't sound so far-fetched, but from experience I knew it wouldn't be that simple.
"Is that person coming here a demon?"
"No, let's say he's a human."
"What are you talking about?"
"You'll know it when you see it. Kukukukuku."
"Hey, if that person turns out to be hostile towards me, I'll tear him to pieces; keep that in mind."
"Well, I don't care if you tear him to pieces, just don't kill him and pass on my words."
"Understood. By the way, what's your name?"
"Gardolak."
"Okay, Gardolak, I'll help you with that, but I don't promise anything."
"If you try, that's enough."
After that exchange, I turned around and walked towards the exit. When I got to the door, Gardolak caught my eye.
"Take this with you, Lucien Whiteheart."
A book shot towards me at breakneck speed, but was stopped by 'mover'. I wasn't going to let it blow my head off. With the book stopped in mid-air, I took it in my hands. It was a book with brown, old covers.
"That book is a treasure. In the past, I saw a weak elf use the strangest magic with that book. I've been analyzing it, but I got no results. You try it."
After receiving the book, I opened it, but the pages were blank. I didn't feel any special power in the book.
"??????"
"You didn't feel anything either?"
"I don't feel anything about the book."
Without wasting any time, I put it in the bin; I wasn't going to waste my time analyzing an old, worn-out book. D could take care of that. Without another word, I turned around, and almost as if the door was reading my thoughts, the part of the door that had regenerated earlier turned into black smoke. It only took me a few steps to get out of the library. As I turned around, I saw the door regenerate the missing part. That was all Gardolak's doing.
- ALL RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN LIFTED.
A report soon rang in my head, a very good one. The month I spent in that library was annoying; I felt imprisoned, but it wasn't all bad. I got out of that place alive; I doubted anyone else could accomplish such a feat. And to make things better, I got a reward for my hard work.
"I won."
That authority was no joke; it was a power that, without a doubt, anyone would kill to possess.
'Give me a full report of our authority; I want to know everything.'
- UNDERSTOOD.
- THE REPLICATED AUTHORITY IS NAME 'LIAR'S WORLD'.
- MULTIPLE FEATURES WERE IDENTIFIED:
• MIND READING
• THE SINCERE
• RESTRICTION
• THIEF OF SOULS
• DISTURBANCE OF SOULS
• ILLUSION
• DOMAIN
- A DISADVANTAGE HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED THAT CAN BE FATAL FOR THE CREATOR. IF THE FEATURES OF THE 'LIAR' WORLD' AUTHORITY ARE USED INDIVIDUALLY, OUR BODY AND SOUL WILL BE EXPOSED FOR A TIME.
- ACCORDING TO THE MEMORIES OF THE BEING CALLED GARDOLAK, SUCH A SITUATION CAN BE AVOIDED BY USING THE 'DOMINION' FEATURE.
'Excellent, it doesn't matter if he has a few weaknesses; now I see why he was so afraid of Gardolak.'
- THE FEAR HE FELT WAS NOT FOR AUTHORITY.
'That?'
- FEAR WAS CAUSED BY THAT BEING. HE ONLY USED FOUR CHARACTERISTICS SINCE WE MEET: MIND READING, SINCERE, RESTRICTION, DOMINATION; NONE OF THEM HAS THE FUNCTION OF PRODUCING FEAR IN LIVING BEINGS.
'Well, who wouldn't be afraid of that Gardolak? He said he was a fucking demon.'
Any sane human being would be afraid of Gardolak; he had no doubt about that.
- AUTHORITY WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE CUBE.
'Why didn't you transfer it to our body?'
- AUTHORITY IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OUR BODY. IF AUTHORITY HAD BEEN TRANSFERRED TO THE BODY, IT WOULD HAVE EXPLODED INTO PIECES.
'Wait a second, you used to call this body a vessel, right?'
- SYNCHRONIZATION RATE REACHED 100%. OFFICIALLY IT IS OUR BODY.
'Oh really?'
- YEAH.
I had completely forgotten about this information. D informed me of this before, but I didn't think much of it; well, I didn't now either. Right after I left the library, I walked towards the kitchen. I knew where it was located; I headed to that place to order food. I wasn't invisible. The only power I was using was 'hide'; I no longer had the need to hide. With an authority hidden in my backpack, I had nothing to fear. The reason I didn't turn off 'hide' at any point was because of how useful it turned out to be. Thanks to that feature, Gardolak couldn't read my mind; this was confirmed by D.
'Well, just because Gardolak spared my life doesn't mean he's a good guy.'
Since we took a sample of his body, D was able to extract quite a bit of useful information from Gardolak. For example, what he actually was. He claimed to be a demon, but what he said was pretty far from reality. His age was fucking insane and the amount of lives he's taken. I received a brief summary from D regarding those topics and there was still more to find out.
