Chereads / Wrong Reincarnation [OIMUHCAW] / Chapter 25 - Reward I

Chapter 25 - Reward I

In a spacious room, four individuals stared at two figures in bewilderment with surprised eyes. The one who broke the silence was Angrod.

"Was that space magic?"

Spatial magic was a unique magic that could only be used with artifacts. That magic was extremely difficult to use, but here he was seeing a human use such magic without an artifact. It was an out of the ordinary situation.

"Don't know."

The human named D replied that he didn't know. If the human could use spatial magic, it was likely that he could also use teleportation, and if that happened, it was possible that his plans would fail.

"I see, it must be a power of your elemental, that's why you don't know."

"Well, more importantly, here's the guy Idril captured."

Angrod glanced at the person who appeared out of nowhere: a tall man with black hair, who was covered in bruises all over his body. It was obvious that he had been beaten up, but that was the problem: Idril didn't solve things that way no matter how angry she was about Lia's kidnapping. Putting mana in her eyes, she soon realized something.

"He's dead."

At Angrod's words, everyone in the room frowned. If the kidnapper died, they wouldn't be able to get information out of him about how he entered the kingdom so easily and how Lia was kidnapped without them noticing.

"You are wrong."

Pointing at the subject, I said:

"The bastard has a very rare ability that allows him to fake death."

D had already informed me of this hours ago. The bastard successfully tricked D at first, but that didn't last long; D found out when he deactivated his strange power and reactivated it again. His power, on the surface, was useless, but in reality it was the opposite.

"Tsk, you damn monster."

Out of nowhere, the body that was supposed to be dead spoke. Seeing him speak, everyone's expressions changed; it was obvious that they wanted to kill him. The bastard knew how to speak the elven language, and that pissed them off even more.

"Hey, little monster, I propose a deal."

The subject had a smile etched on his face.

"Oh, and what would that be?"

"I'll guide you to the city if you get me out of here."

"Ha, I don't need you anymore. I gave you your chance and you turned it down."

"Idiot, don't think those elves are going to let you leave their kingdom easily. They'll kill you when they find out everything about you; that's how they work."

The black-haired guy had a point; he had already thought of that, but he had it covered. Everyone in the room made angry faces. They didn't bother to reprimand the guy since there were bones sticking out of his body; it was obvious that he couldn't move with those wounds.

"You have a point, but there's no way anyone can kill me."

"Hahaha, there is nothing impossible in this world."

Maedhros watched the two individuals' conversation. He also heard the man call the human child a 'little monster'. That caught Maedhros' attention. He wanted to send them both to prison, but he had to restrain himself for his wife; she was looking forward to properly thanking the benefactor who helped her child.

"Well, I don't need you to believe me; I don't care what they do with you. I don't care. Good luck."

"Haha, if you change your mind, come see me. I know that if you and I join forces, we can get out of this realm alive."

Shortly after the subject finished speaking, Maedhros called out to the guard guarding the door and ordered him to be taken away. After he was taken away, the room once again fell into an awkward silence. Breaking the silence, I said:

"I don't want a reward."

Angrod spoke.

"And the reason?"

"You do not have the ability to give me a reward that I like."

I threw out a little provocation, all in order to goad him into giving me something of value. It was obvious that these elves were proud; if I touched that pride a little, I could take advantage. My statement made Maedhros' forehead bulge, he was furious. He was literally insulted by a human. Giving in to rage, he spoke:

"Okay, ask for whatever you want and we will give it to you."

And finally, the guy did exactly what I wanted. I had already thought about what I would ask of him; it was not something simple.

"Since you insist, I will tell you my request. If you are able to fulfill my request, rest assured that I will have been well paid."

"Speak, what do you want?"

Maedhros could already get an idea of what the human would ask for: gold, jewels, artifacts, lands.

"I want you to bring me a beast that lives on the other side of the forest, across the river. There lives a creature that looks like a bird."

"What, just that?"

Maedhros was stunned; he had not expected such a foolish and insignificant request.

"Puff, hahahahaha."

Maedhros laughed at the absurd request. Eryn, Idril and Angrod looked at him in surprise. It had been a while since they had seen Maedhros laugh so loudly; that meant that he found what the human said funny. Idril soon intervened.

"Maedhros, you should not take the request lightly."

Idril warned; she knew that when it came to D, things couldn't be that simple.

"It seems you took my request as a joke, but I can't allow you to take it as a joke."

Rising from my seat and approaching Maedhros, I offered him my right hand and said:

"Take my hand, I'll show you. Let's see if you find my request as funny after this."

Maedhros hesitated a bit, but after a glance from Eryn, he gave me his hand. The moment my hand touched his, a memory was transferred to Maedhros' brain. A few seconds later, he jumped up from his seat; his face was pale and sweat was pouring from his forehead.

"What the hell was that thing?"

Everyone was surprised by Maedhros' sudden jump. The always stoic man had lost his composure.

"The thing you're going to bring me, whether it's alive or dead."

Not fully understanding the situation, Maedhros asked:

"Were those your memories?"

"Correct."

Showing my memories to people was easy; the 'transfer' feature allowed me to share my memories at will. Maedhros had goosebumps; what he saw left him cold. For a few seconds, he could see an extremely deadly beast staring at him with extremely terrifying eyes. After calming down a bit, he said:

"Did your elemental protect you from that thing?"

Maedhros felt it; it was only for a few seconds, but he managed to sense the presence that creature emitted in that memory. It was a presence that made him feel like he was just a piece of meat. He was very curious to know how the human who introduced himself as D survived such a creature.

"Yeah."

With a short answer, I answered the question. I really didn't care if they fulfilled my request or not. Sooner or later, I would kill the alpha, no matter what it cost me. I didn't want to even imagine that bastard outside of that forest.

"What did you see, Maedhros?"

Seeing his son's face, Angrod became worried; it had to be something pretty serious for him to make such a panicked face.

"A memory."

"A souvenir?"

"Yeah."

Angrod was just as confused as he had been at the beginning. Noticing the confusion on everyone's faces, I explained:

"Let me explain: I just showed him one of my memories. I have the ability to show my memories to people in great detail."

At my explanation, everyone fell silent; it was obvious that they were processing what I had just said. Another thing to note was that I referred to Maedhros as 'he', and the reason was simple: the bastard hadn't formally introduced himself; I had heard his name only because Idril mentioned it. He seemed to have something against me, which was why I was speaking to him without any respect. Idril's sister hadn't introduced herself yet either. Eryn spoke up after a while.

"You have some very interesting powers."

"Yes, my elemental is very powerful, ma'am."

"Call me Eryn, or better yet, Miss Eryn."

At Eryn's statement, everyone narrowed their eyes. The reason for this had to do with Eryn's age.

"Your elemental must be very shy, since it doesn't let itself be seen."

With a smile, Eryn said. I didn't respond to her statement; it was obvious she wanted to get information out of me. When she didn't get a response, Eryn replied:

"Sorry if I bothered you."

"I would appreciate it if you didn't ask about my elemental."

"I understand, it's normal that you don't trust us."

Eryn apologized. The reason I didn't answer questions about D was simple: the more they knew about what he was capable of, the harder it would be to get out of this place unscathed. Maedhros was still upset with the way the human spoke to them. The only reason he hadn't had him locked up yet was because of Idril, who had been communicating via telepathy ever since he entered the room, telling them not to do anything about his behavior. It was strange to them that Idril defended him. Maedhros was tolerating the disrespect to a certain extent, but he was not short of wanting to send the human named D to prison.
