Chapter 27 - Funding Dr. Groh to Research Artificial Humans

Dr. Groh.

That's right.

The very scientist who transformed himself into Artificial Human 20 and created Artificial Humans 17 and 18, who would one day bring destruction to the future world.

In the original timeline, after little Goku destroyed the Red Ribbon Army, Dr. Groh disappeared—most likely receiving funding from the remnants of the Red Ribbon Army and hiding in a secret laboratory to develop artificial humans, all for the sake of taking revenge on little Goku.

However, in the Dragon Ball world where Renkai resided, it was Torudo who had wiped out the Red Ribbon Army, only to meet his own end at the hands of Renkai for his betrayal.

Dr. Groh had lost his target for revenge, and it was unclear whether the remnants of the Red Ribbon Army would continue supporting him.

Regardless, Renkai wanted Dr. Groh to work under him.

Artificial humans were a powerful force, and Renkai saw their potential.

The current king who ruled Earth—that guy—was too peaceful, lacking any interest in developing new weapons.

Whether it was facing the Great Demon King Piccolo, a Saiyan invasion, or even the vengeance of an intergalactic emperor, the king's army had remained stagnant for decades.

If Artificial Human 16 could be developed, then Piccolo Daimao, the Saiyans, or even the Universal Emperor would be no match.

And if Cell was improved upon, not even Majin Buu would pose a threat.

At the very least, things couldn't get any worse. In the original timeline, the king's military had been completely useless—Fat Buu had wiped out an entire fleet like swatting flies.

With that in mind, Renkai powered on his computer, using the information provided by Dr. Brief to log into a forum accessible only to the world's top scientists.

Originally, Renkai had only planned to try his luck. If he couldn't find any leads on Dr. Groh, the worst-case scenario would be using Bulma's help to make a wish.

Unexpectedly, Dr. Groh was already active on the forum.

It was clear that due to the world's current state, other scientists didn't like Dr. Groh's research into weapons of destruction.

It was no surprise that Dr. Groh harbored resentment toward little Goku for destroying the Red Ribbon Army.

Aside from the Red Ribbon Army, no one had ever been interested in his research—let alone willing to fund him.

Renkai added Dr. Groh's contact information, and the two engaged in a long discussion that lasted an entire afternoon.

Dr. Groh quickly became fond of Renkai, seeing him as a kindred spirit.

Not only was Renkai knowledgeable, but more importantly—he was wealthy and fully supported Dr. Groh's research.

After Torudo's "disappearance," the remnants of the Red Ribbon Army had lost their thirst for revenge and lowered their guard.

Additionally, because Dr. Groh's artificial human project required significant funding, and he was unable to produce a powerful model in the early stages, the remnants had abandoned him.

Dr. Groh had been left to fend for himself.

With no other options, he accepted Renkai's generous offer and began working under him.

A Secret Laboratory in the Mountains

Hidden deep within an uninhabited mountain range was a high-tech research facility, built into the rock itself.

Inside, an elderly scientist—who looked younger than when he had appeared in the Android Saga—watched warily as a dark-skinned, muscular man entered his lab.

"Are you Renkai?" Dr. Groh asked with suspicion.

If the stranger hadn't provided the verification code that Dr. Groh had given Renkai, he wouldn't have let him in.

"Hello, Dr. Groh. I am Renkai," the man responded with a calm smile. "I accepted your invitation and came here. As for my appearance? My main body is currently occupied in the Western Capital, so I am using a clone to meet with you."

"A clone?"

"This body belongs to a cosmic warrior named Dales. My clone will be of great use to your research on artificial humans. With this, I can stay in contact with you at all times, and it also serves as a safeguard in case you face any danger.

"Additionally, I've brought the research equipment from your list—it's all stored inside these universal capsules."

Dr. Groh was stunned. His sharp eyes immediately noticed the 'RR' logo on the stranger's uniform.

At that moment, Renkai revealed something even more astonishing.

Every time Renkai granted a wish, the Dragon System copied everything from the person who made the wish—meaning that Dales had become his clone, fully under his control.

This meant that everyone whose wishes Renkai had granted could be copied and used as needed.

However, the clone wasn't fully independent. It required Renkai's direct control, and if it was destroyed, it could be resurrected—but only after an hour.

It wasn't a perfect ability, but it was incredibly useful in situations where his real body was occupied—such as now.

As for the real Dales?

Renkai had used Rabbit's superpower to transform him into a black carrot and tossed him into the Dragon System's storage to collect dust.

"A cosmic warrior?!"

Dr. Groh's eyes lit up in excitement.

Without hesitation, he approached and began inspecting the clone, his hands trembling as he studied the living specimen before him.

Until now, Dr. Groh had only been able to study Earth's weaklings. At best, he had gathered combat data from the planet's top martial artists.

But now—he had a real alien warrior at his disposal.

This was an unprecedented opportunity.

Renkai allowed the clone to assist Dr. Groh in his research, discussing various technical details before ultimately leaving the clone behind as a research subject.

Additionally, he handed over the Spirit Tree Seeds from Dales.

Dr. Groh, ever the scientist, eagerly accepted them—his interest piqued by the idea of extraterrestrial plant specimens.

Little Goku's Growth

After training for two years in the 100x gravity chamber inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, little Goku emerged older—and far stronger.

"Didi!"

Little Goku - Combat Power: 1,000,000

Seeing this, Renkai immediately decided to copy little Goku's training gains.

To do so, he had little Goku make a wish—to eat the most delicious barbecue in the world.

Once the wish was granted, Renkai's power skyrocketed.

"Didi!"

Renkai - Combat Power: 1,200,000

Humanoid Dragon Form - Combat Power: 12,000,000

20x Kaio-ken - Combat Power: 240,000,000

"Hahaha! With my current power, I can finally crush that so-called king!"

Renkai laughed triumphantly.

Breakthroughs in Research

A few months later, Dr. Groh's research on the Spirit Tree Seeds yielded results.

He successfully developed an improved variant that could be grown on living planets without draining them dry.

Instead of consuming a planet's life force all at once, these new seeds absorbed nutrients gradually, allowing for sustainable cultivation.

Renkai tested this by planting the seeds on an uninhabited, primitive world.

One month later, the trees bore fruit.

For someone at Renkai or little Goku's level, these fruits had little effect.

But for Earthlings, they were game-changing.

"Didi!"

Yamcha - Combat Power: 550

Krillin - Combat Power: 700

Bulma - Combat Power: 300

Oolong - Combat Power: 80

Puar - Combat Power: 80

"The fruits work best the first time they're eaten," Renkai mused.

Looking at Bulma, he smirked.

"My dear, you can now join the next World Martial Arts Tournament—you'll easily place third."

"Really?! That's amazing!" Bulma beamed.

Meanwhile, Yamcha sighed, feeling defeated.

Sensing his thoughts, Renkai smirked.

"Trying to compete with the strongest people on Earth? Wake up, Yamcha!"
