Emily , Emily you dirty witch ; her stepmother called her in a very angry manner. Emily , being afraid immediately ran to answer her stepmother immediately . "Emily where have you been since " ,shouted her angry stepmom . " Good day ma, I've been at home doing all the chores you asked me to do "
A loud and resounding slap came across Emily's face before she could even finish talking.
" You liar, who do you think you are to deceive me? , You know I won't believe you right?"
At this tears began to fall from 10 year old Emily who had suffered much injustice from her stepmother's hand.
"I knew you went to meet that Julie right?" Said her angry stepmom.
Emily trembling with fear didn't say anything because her stepmother was right she quickly did her house chores so she could meet her only source of comfort Julie ; her best friend who grew up together with her and who knows about her situation .
Julie ,on the other hand was from a middle class family , while Emily was treated as a slave in a middle class family of Mr Aston; her own biological father. Mr Aston became unloving to Emily ever since Emily's mother , Stella died and he married Mary, Emily's stepmom, who was at first , good to her but changed due to the fact that Mary was depressed because she couldn't give birth to a child for Mr Aston . So she began to hate Emily and blame her for her barrenness saying she was badluck and Mr Aston should sell her as a maid to another household.
Mr Aston at first didn't like the idea , but later he began to think about it ,so he decided to give her hard labour by firing their maid and making Emily the maid of Mr Aston's villa .
" Haven't I told you not to ever visit Julie again?" Shouted her stepmother.
" Both of you aren't of the same class she is the child of a rich middle class family , while you are the daughter of a witch and an illegitimate child so you girls can never be in the same class.
Emily on hearing this, her eyes welled up with tears, but this was not the first time her stepmother was saying this so she didn't allow her tears to drop.
"So now will be the last time you will ever step a foot into her house understand?"
"Yes ma" answered Emily.
"So now go to your room and take your bath , your father is coming back today , freshen up and wear a nice dress, you wouldn't want your father to see you dressed in a rags right?" Smiled her stepmother in a cocky way.
"So go now, hurry up "
Emily rushed to her room,which was the only property her father allowed her to have despite her stepmother's unwillingness.
Immediately she locked the door she let all her tears out and wept out her predicament.
When she was done crying she immediately ran to the bathroom to take her bath , before her father comes.
