Halfway through the journey, the driver asked Emily her choice of music, because he decipherd that she would be bored without any music. It's been an hour and half since they have been on this journey.
Emily politely replied " I love slow music sir "
The cab driver tunned the radio to a station of slow music.
"Thank you sir" Emily politely said.
"You are very much welcome my dear" , the driver replied.
Emily soon drifted off to sleep, and was later awakened by the cab driver on reaching her destination .
"Young miss , we have arrived safely at your destination" , he slightly tapped on her shoulder to wake her .
Emily squinted her eyes for some seconds before opening them fully, she was then helped by the cab driver to get down from the cab . Emily was enthralled by the scenery, the mansion was really huge , it was five times the size of her house .
Emily looked at the garden not to far from where she stood, there she saw two children playing in a very beautiful garden. These were the children of the Young family, Charles and Charlotte, Emily then realised that she was going to work for the richest family in the country.
An old woman approached them smiling through her wrinkles.
Emily could see the old maid talking to the cab driver. Then her she turned her attention to Emily "Hello dear , you must be the new maid named .... Ahem, ahem.... She coughed ,not knowing her name.
"Emily, good day ma" Emily replied.
"Yes, Emily , what a nice name you have there child " the old maid said.
"I'm nanny Frey , but u can call me Granny Frey " Nanny Frey said.
"Ok , Granny Frey " Emily said.
"Yes , I saw you looking at those children over there, my simple advice to you is that you should not cross their paths especially Master Charles .
"Ok Granny Frey" Emily replied.
The cab driver brought Emily's suitcases for the cab and another maid guided the cab driver to Emilys new room.
"Come, let's get you to your room , shall we ?" Granny Frey led the way .
They entered through the back of the mansion, because only people of high status can pass through the front door, only the maid's who clean the front can pass when cleaning.
Emily was in awe staring at the big mansion she was , when she was suddenly called by Granny Frey.
"This will be your room from now on"
Granny Frey stopped in front of a door that was looking dusty and old like someone has not been there for a while.
Granny Frey opened the door and she and Emily walked in , it was exactly like what Emily has envisioned ;old and dusty .
Soon enough, another maid walked in with a broom, dust pan and a mop .
"Here , you can use it to clean up, I'm Gina"
Said the maid.
"Thanks aunt Gina, I'm Emily"
Emily introduced herself.
"Awwww, you sweet little child, I wonder was what you are doing here as a maid instead of being in school and being treated as a princess in your father's house "
Gina blabbed .
Emily's mood instantly changed when she heard those words .
Granny Frey tried to caution Gina but she couldn't understand her.
Gina understanding what she has just say it said apologized "I'm sorry Emily, I didn't just understand why you are here , that's all"
"It's ok, my biological mother is dead so my step mother sold me here and my father agreed"Emily said cutting her story short.
"Ohhh , sorry Granny Frey and I are going to be your family from now on ". Gina said comforting Emily.
"Okay now, let me help you arrange your room, Granny Frey has work to do "
Gina said, and they started working.
