After the intense encounter with the thieves, Zeyu and Kailu finally arrived home. The adrenaline from the chase slowly faded, leaving behind exhaustion but also satisfaction.
Zeyu leaned against the wall, trying to catch his breath. "I still can't believe we actually did that."
Kailu chuckled, tossing his helmet onto the table. "Told you it would be exciting. But honestly, I didn't expect us to get into a street fight today."
Zeyu smirked. "Exciting? I nearly passed out back there."
"But you didn't," Kailu countered. "And we got the bag back. That's what matters."
Zeyu sighed, shaking his head in disbelief. "Ever since I met you, my life has been anything but normal."
Kailu grinned. "Maybe normal is boring."
Zeyu couldn't deny it. His life had been dull before, but things had changed ever since Kailu came along. He never imagined himself chasing down thieves, let alone fighting them. But somehow, it felt thrilling, as if he was discovering a side of himself he never knew existed.
Just then, Zeyu's phone buzzed. A message popped up from an unknown number.
Unknown Number: Hey, this is Yuke! I got your number from Kailu. I just wanted to say thank you again for today. I really appreciate what you guys did.
Zeyu frowned slightly, surprised that Kailu had given his number to Yuke. He glanced at Kailu, who just smiled knowingly.
"What?" Kailu shrugged. "She asked, so I gave it to her."
Zeyu sighed and replied to Yuke's message.
Zeyu: No problem. I'm glad we could help.
A reply came almost instantly.
Yuke: As a thank-you, how about I treat you guys to dinner this weekend?
Zeyu raised an eyebrow at Kailu. "She wants to treat us to dinner."
Kailu chuckled. "See? Helping people has its perks."
Zeyu hesitated for a moment before responding.
Zeyu: Sounds good. Let us know the time and place.
Yuke sent a thumbs-up emoji, ending the conversation.
Zeyu let out a deep breath and sat on the couch. "Looks like we have plans for the weekend."
Kailu patted his shoulder. "Get ready, bro. I have a feeling our lives are about to get a lot more interesting."
---
The next morning, Zeyu woke up earlier than usual. He still felt a little sore from the fight yesterday, but his mood was surprisingly good. After having breakfast, he decided to take a walk around his neighborhood.
The fresh morning air helped clear his mind. However, as he strolled down the street, someone suddenly called his name.
"Zeyu!"
Zeyu turned around and saw Yuke standing across the road, waving at him. She was dressed casually, a bright smile on her face.
He walked over to her. "Hey, Yuke. What are you doing here this early?"
"I live around here," Yuke replied, pointing to an apartment building nearby. "I was actually on my way to the store to pick up some things."
Zeyu nodded, a bit surprised to learn that they lived so close to each other. "Oh, I was just taking a walk. Want me to go with you?"
Yuke's eyes lit up. "Sure! I didn't really want to go alone anyway."
They walked together to the store, chatting along the way and learning more about each other.
"So, Zeyu, have you and Kailu been friends for a long time?" Yuke asked.
"Not really. I only met him a while ago at a festival," Zeyu admitted. "But it feels like we've known each other forever."
Yuke giggled. "Yeah, he has that effect on people. He's fun to be around."
"And kind of crazy," Zeyu added, making Yuke laugh.
After arriving at the store and buying what she needed, they sat on a nearby park bench to rest for a while.
"Oh, by the way," Yuke said, pulling something from her bag. It was a necklace with a small star-shaped pendant. "I wanted to give you this as a thank-you gift. You guys really helped me yesterday, and I truly appreciate it."
Zeyu was surprised. "This is for me?"
Yuke nodded. "And I got one for Kailu too."
Zeyu took the necklace and examined it. "Thank you, Yuke. I'll take good care of it."
Yuke smiled, satisfied. "I'm glad to hear that."
After talking a bit more, they finally parted ways. But deep down, Zeyu felt that today was just the beginning of something bigger.
A new friendship, new adventures, and maybe… something more.
To be continued…
