Chapter 4 - Frantic search

It was a wild night, a night full of life. I had gone to a party, somewhere familiar yet full of unfamiliar faces.

Too many faces.

Yet, in the sea of strangers, I saw him. Suddenly, my focus was fixed solely on him, and nobody else. They all just faded away.

However, I was interrupted by someone, and when I looked back, I felt their faces get closer, and closer, until I couldn't breathe.

Like a wild animal, I wanted to claw my way out, do anything to leave.

And so I did. I went to the stable nearby, and sat in a pile of hay. A grey mare came up to me and gently pressed her head against my torso, and soon enough I felt calm again.

I now knew that I needed to return.

To find him.

But when I got back, I couldn't see him. He was nowhere to be seen, not on my left, right, not even behind.

Where could he have gone?

The faces of the strangers melted together again, and the air was filled with his scent.

So insanely intoxicating I couldn't see straight.

Find him. Find. Him.

As my thoughts became more crazed, more wild, I felt like I was breaking through the surface of the ocean, then going back under. My head was pounding, my ears were ringing, my eyes were burning, and he was nowhere in sight.

You should never have left.

Look at where it led you.
