Chapter 9 - Burning

I had sworn to the heavens and the earth that I would love you -

Had promised with the gods as witness that I would take care of myself -

Yet my efforts were in vain.

My soul burned with passion, with the deepest care, and now my whole being is set ablaze.

How could you have caused me so much pain?

...

I thought my sun would shine bright forever, until the sands of time disintegrate and we all explode into oblivion.

Such a fool I have been, to put all my trust into one being.

I admire you, my sun, I wonder at how you chose me over all the others, always have. Yet now, your warmth does not reach my skin. You don't smile at me, you turn a blind eye to my struggles.

Now, the moon welcomes me with her lullaby of starlight-freckled sheep.

She sings to me when no one else does, sings "Look out at the sea, my child"

"See how my light shines on the surface, sparkling in tranquility,

"Beneath the surface, your worries shall be mild."
