Chereads / Lost In The Game of Death / Chapter 2 - The First Mission

Chapter 2 - The First Mission

The queens eyes remained as shut as doors, King Herald was the master of manipulation but she knew better. Her anger reflected in the wind as the weather became boisterous.

"Let's go your highness." The kings right hand man suggested Kyles eyes widened with shock as the body of a man was thrown extremely close to him missing him by an inch.

"No one orders me around, let's go!." King Herald ordered and his soldiers marched on.

The other creatures came out.

"This is all there fault." The guard exclaimed.

"The smoke from the fire you caused drew them here." He explained.

"Oh you're the one to talk." Kyle said.

"How would you feel if you were sucked in a game, and fell into .... this madness..." He gestured waving.

"If this is my fault , I rather leave." Kyle said walking away.

"To where exactly?" The woman asked.

Kyle turned around his rage literally burning in his eyes.

"Have you people ever even thought of searching for a way out. You guys just sat, lazing around waiting for the chosen one." Kyle said.

"He's right." The queen said.

"We need to defeat King Herald, and to do that, we need to know his weakness." Kyle clapped.

"That's not what I said at all, you know what forget it." He walked away, Everton chased.

"Dude they're counting on us, do you really want to leave them here if you do find a way out?." Everton asked his eyes piercing into Kyle's soul.

"You want me to say no don't you?, goody pants, fine have it your way, but if we die, I'll kill you." Everton smiled.

"Leave my head alone I'm not a dog." Kyle screamed as he ran.

In king Heralds palace of thorns, everything came to life at midnight. The rules of the game were simple, enter the right portal and leave to live, enter the wrong portal and become history.

"We need to make sure that no one leaves Nowheres land, and for that to happen you need to find every portal and destroy them. The anthem of fear must continue to rule in the hearts of these weak creatures."

The king spoke with a sneer.

Everton saw something strange in the sky, he pushed Kyle to a corner.

And the letters fell on him.

"Find the portals before the king does." The letters fade into the air.

Everton stared at the queen, the queen explained that the portals was the only way to escape this jungle.

But sadly anyone that tried to find it ended up dead, the King had eyes everywhere.

Kyle sneezed, the guard beside him jumped.

"Can someone teach this kid how to control his powers before he completely destroys us.". The guard said.

"I will." Diana volunteered.

"That's all good, but first we need to be extremely quiet." The guard warned.

"It's almost midnight, and at midnight everything comes to life, which is why we need to go to bed right now!." They all went it with him.

Everton laid on the Queens bed, his eyes admiring the ceiling.

The queen warned him, to sleep because King Herald could use anybodies eyes to track there location.

He closed his eyes, but felt something crawling on his skin.

He threw it away, his eyes still shut.

"This is for you my dear." Evertons mum said consciously, it was his birthday today, and she knew he would miss his dad.

His father died on his fourth birthday, but that did not stop his mum from showing him some love.

"Listen mom, we are stuck in this forest, and I'm terrified, what do I do, how do I protect Kyle." Everton opened his eyes, it was all a dream.

He looked at the corner of the room, the purple bed was empty.

"Kyle!." Eveton jumped up, Kyle had always being a sleep walker and tonight was no different.

He fell in the pool and drowned silently.

Everton was extremely worried, his breathe increased he was certain he would lose his mind.

He tried not to scream for the queens sake.

"Are you looking for this?." Everton stood up, he searched for the voice.

"Down here fella." Everton looked down and saw where the voice came from. It was then he remembered that everything came alive at midnight.

The ocean played pranks on him.

"Give me my brother back you." He fell in it.

He saw Kyle still sleep walking.

"Seriously?." Everton tried to reach out to him but it was of no use.

In kings herald palace the mirror also has something to say. "Sir, Sir, I can see something." The king looked but saw nothing.

King Herald was cursed, he was not able to sleep at night or day, he was more grumpy at night.

"I can't see anything."

The mirror sighed.

"There are two strange boys toying with the ocean, I have not seen them before."

The king was fast asleep, he did not hear a word.

Everton was finally able to bring Kyle out of the water, and into the room.

They were both dripping wet.

King Herald woke up suddenly with a gasp, startling the mirror.

"I had a dream, you were saying something, theyre two strange boys in Nowheres land.

My dream never lies, come on Guards."

The mirror sighed, the glass tea cups stared .

"I won't correct him even if they promised me to break my curse."

The king arrived in the forest he knew there was something beyond the ordinary but everywhere was calm and still.

He suddenly has a devious idea.

"Guards burn this forest to the ground."

The Kings words were carried out with haste, as the dolls brought out there loaded guns.

Spraying everything in there path, no one was awake besides Kyle and Everton.

Every sneeze from Kyle burnt something.

Everton did not know what to do, he took him outside the room.

"Arrest them!." Everton ran with Kyle on his shoulders.

"Burn them to dust!." King Herald ordered.
