Sete talked to the System some more and found out how to collect the rewards for her achievements. The backpack of supplies, which would be extremely useful, was the first thing she claimed. And, of course, she didn't give the boys too many details about where she got the item.
They figured it had something to do with her being a superior being or something.
— Can you tell me what your powers are? Since you're heirs of the Deities, you must have some magical ability... — Spring asked, as she went behind a cluster of dry bushes and put on the clothes she found in her backpack. — It's interesting to know each other's abilities, so we can coordinate better in the event of an emergency.
— Well... — Thomas hesitated for a moment, running his fingers through his brown curls and frowning. — I can stop time for a few seconds and Kai can see fragments of the future at random moments.
— But it's very exhausting to use these powers, we almost always lose consciousness. — Kai muttered, his straight black hair swaying in the breeze.
— Hmm, so Thomas must be the heir of Time and Kai is probably the heir of Fate… — Sete pondered, stepping out from behind the vegetation wearing a set of black pants and jacket over a white tank top. — With some training, this exhaustion can diminish and your skills can be honed, I'll help you while we travel.
The clothes were a little wrinkled, perhaps due to the fact that the girl wasn't used to this kind of deadly clothing. But overall, even if she was a bit sloppy, her figure was still stunning. That's why it took the two teenagers a few seconds longer to understand what the young woman had just said.
— Time? Fate? So people like us inherited the powers of these deities? — Thomas asked and Kai remained silent, his dark phoenix eyes shining as they watched the young woman.
— Apparently so. From those and many others. — Sete sat down on a dry tree trunk and stared at the knee-high boots that she assumed she would have to wear somehow. There are so many intertwined strings. She frowned. — Do any of you know how to put these on?
The boys remained silent, exchanged complicated glances and Thomas set about helping Sete. While he undid some of the laces to put the boots on the girl, the conversation continued:
— So you met these Gods? Did you talk to them? — Kai asked more and more excitedly, a childlike curiosity apparent in his toothy grin. — Can we really control these powers better?
Sete tried to remember each of those bastards, but a latent headache clouded her thoughts. Yes, she had met some of them, and she bore a great grudge against Destiny and his great friend, the Order.
— Come on, we can't stand still for long. — Thomas commented, finishing tying the laces of her boots.
— Yes, let's go. — Spring agreed, getting up and putting her backpack full of supplies on her shoulder. She seemed to have forgotten Kai's question, and the boy didn't press the issue any further when he received a serious look from Thomas.
