Sete and Thomas looked worriedly at Kai.

A few seconds ago, the boy suddenly sat up from his sleeping bag, sweat sticking to his black hair on his forehead and his lips pale. His dark irises stared at the dead vegetation ahead and he didn't respond to the calls of his brother or the young deity, as if he couldn't hear them.

When the two restlessness reached their limit, Kai finally came out of his catatonic state and looked at Sete seriously.

— We need to talk. — He didn't sound like a 12-year-old when he uttered those three words, gravity stamped on his boyish face.

— Yes? — Sete encouraged him to continue, while Thomas crouched down next to the smaller boy and put his hand on his shoulder.

— I think he saw a fragment of the future. — Kai nodded in agreement and continued talking.

— I saw an E.G.O. convoy carrying some heirs as prisoners, their path crossed ours and we were attacked. The fight was complicated. — Kai paused. — We didn't win.

Sete remained silent, looking at the worried boys and thinking of a way to protect them. Anger bubbled in his forest eyes, stirring the deep green. Rancor against the Gods mixed with fury against these men.

— Do you know when and where this convoy will pass? — She asked, facing Kai firmly.

— Not exactly. — The teenager denied it, staring at his hands. — I know that the ambush against us will take place in a few days' time, but I can't say how many. And I remember that the convoy passed through a large abandoned town before it reached us, the name of the place was... Bury... Ousbury!

At the same moment that Kai pronounced the name of the town, a sharp sound of bells tinkled inside Sete's head. The translucent blue screen that appeared in front of her didn't surprise her like the other times. The words appeared little by little, revealing the following message:

[Secondary Rescue Mission]

Head for Ousbury and

ambush the E.G.O. convoy,

rescuing the captive heirs.

Rewards: 3% power and 3% divinity.

Failure will result in death.

— Good. Tell me all the details you remember, Kai. We have an ambush to plan. — Sete smiled sweetly, which sent shivers down Thomas's spine.

Minutes after listening attentively to the teenager's visions, the trio found themselves sitting on the ground of the same clearing where they had spent the night. Warm rays of sunlight stained the map that Thomas had taken out of his pocket — the tool with which he had been finding his way around the vast corrupted forest — and placed it on a fallen tree trunk.

— Ousbury is about a day and a half's walk away, which already gives us some advantage, because Kai's vision comes true in about a week. — Thomas traced possible routes with the tip of his index finger on the map, he seemed far too rational for a 16-year-old. — The convoy will probably follow the main roads, so we can already set up in Ousbury and plan the attack.

— With the right strategy we can do that. — Sete assured, leaning over the map and trying to decipher the tangle of blue and red lines on the old paper. She glanced at her brothers, who returned unsure expressions. — I've recovered a bit more of my powers, we'll make it.

Kai smiled and agreed, some of his usual pep returning. Thomas, on the other hand, sighed worriedly. The trio stowed their belongings in their bags and backpacks. They set off before noon and continued chatting quietly along the gray animal trails.
