Adam's hand paused, his black eyes narrowing as he stared at the scar on Alice's flat stomach.
Alice panicked and covered it with her hand, explaining, "I had an appendectomy a year ago..."
The scar wasn't in the center, slightly off, and the key was that Alice's skin was different from others.
After giving birth, other people's skin was loose, even covered in stretch marks.
But hers was smooth and delicate, except for the abrupt scar, everything else was normal.
It was definitely hard to associate it with giving birth...
Just as Adam was stunned, there was a loud bang downstairs, and the whole house shook, followed by the sound of an alarm in the entire corridor.
Adam furrowed his thick eyebrows, his eyes flashing with ferocity, "I underestimated him."
Black's phone vibrated on the ground.
Adam gave a cold glance at the girl curled up on the sofa, stood up, picked up his clothes from the ground, and answered the phone--
"Mr. Davis, Ethan crashed into the corridor while driving, knocked down a wall, the front of the car caught fire, triggering the alarm system! Ethan passed out, I don't know if he's dead."
Adam snorted and hung up the phone, his cold gaze sweeping towards the person on the sofa, "He's pretty good at fighting, but I don't know how many lives he has."
He lost interest and left after speaking.
Alice's tense nerves relaxed, and her body almost went limp.
She touched the scar on her flat stomach, luckily, it was a close call.
Actually, she wasn't afraid of being touched by Adam. After all, she had her "first time" and it wasn't considered cheating on him. She was just scared because Adam looked very strong, and when she thought back to that crazy night two years ago, the insane man almost killed her. Not to mention now...
But what's going on down there? How did Ethan manage to set off the alarm system for the entire building? When Alice went down and the elevator opened, she saw a crowd of people chattering outside. When she saw the hole in the wall on the first floor and the car stuck in it, she almost lost her balance. She knew it was Ethan's Porsche. The front of the car was completely crushed. Did Ethan...?
Alice thought of a possibility and her face turned pale. Did Ethan crash his car to save her?
Alice hurriedly asked the property staff next to her, "Excuse me, where is the person in the car?"
"He was sent to the hospital! I don't understand how he could drive into here! I don't know if he was drunk driving. Anyway, he needs to compensate for the damages," the property staff said.
Alice didn't care about that. "Is he seriously injured?"
"I'm not sure, but he hit his head and bled a lot."
Alice's legs went weak and she stumbled back. She turned around and was about to run outside. When she got to the entrance of the apartment and saw the cars coming and going outside, she stood there motionless.
"Can she go?" Alice asked, her hand covering her feverish eyes. "Adam isn't here, but if she goes to the hospital like this, it will definitely be known."
She didn't want Ethan to get hurt for her sake.
Alice went back to her room and her phone rang. It was Ethan: "I'm okay, don't worry."Alice breathed a sigh of relief and replied, "Don't do that again."
There was no reply, and she didn't know what was happening on the other end.
During work, Ethan called her, "Do you know how dangerous that was?"
"I can stop him. My injury is nothing."
Alice felt uneasy and asked, "Did you have something to tell me last night?"
"I called you, but you didn't answer. I thought something had happened. Luckily, I went. I want to ask you, is your passport ready? Do you really not need my help?"
"The passport is being processed. I can get it in two days."
"I hope you can get away from Adam's control soon."
"I will..." Alice told herself.
She had to escape with her children, as far away from Adam as possible.
"When you're ready to leave, I'll book your ticket. Don't worry, it's safe and he won't be able to track you."
"Okay."After hanging up the phone, Alice was filled with anticipation.
In the afternoon, Mia hurriedly went to Alice's place while the children were napping.
"The lock on the door had been replaced with a password lock," Alice told her over the phone before leaving and walking out of the building. As she walked, she saw a woman in a car in the distance, directing the driver to get something. Mia didn't expect to run into Bella and quickly turned around to hide behind some bushes. Bella headed towards the elevator with the driver carrying groceries behind her. Mia looked uneasy and left, not wanting Bella to see her.
When Alice returned home from work and opened the door, she immediately sensed that something was off. The smell of food wafted through the air and she saw Bella coming out of the kitchen. "Auntie?" Alice was surprised. "You're here? You made food for me?"
Bella replied, "I just finished cooking. Wash your hands and come eat. I'll bring the dishes out." Alice didn't expect her aunt to come over and cook for her. After washing her hands, she sat down at the table and saw that all the dishes were her favorites. Bella served her food and said, "Eat more. These are all your favorite dishes."
Alice asked, "Auntie, why did you come over? Did you come alone? What about Uncle?""He's at home. I was worried he wouldn't have anything to eat," Bella laughed. "And you, your fridge only had a few eggs and instant noodles. How can you have a nutritious meal like that? Auntie bought some groceries and put them in your fridge."
"Eggs are nutritious," Alice said.
Bella chuckled, "Even if they are, you can't just eat eggs."
Alice was chewing her food when she thought of something and asked, "Aunt, did Yolanda come to bother you?"
"She's staying at Davis Family," Aunt replied.
"What?" Alice was surprised.
Bella put down her chopsticks, feeling low and upset. "She claims to be the wife of Davis Family, and Adam acknowledges it. Is this true?"
"Adam didn't deny it. But his purpose should be to make things difficult for me."
"I guessed it. Yolanda really went all out! She's bossing everyone around at Davis Family and saying that mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law are naturally incompatible, so they need to get along in advance. Last night, she threw chopsticks at Grandma Sun's face and said the food was terrible. You know, Grandma Sun has been serving me all along. Isn't she slapping me in the face?"Alice didn't expect Yolanda to go this far.
"And she's sleeping in the room I prepared for you, throwing away all the decorations I bought for you, saying they don't match her taste. Now, Davis Family is all under her command! We can't even drive her away!"
"What does Uncle say?"
"He says that if Adam really marries Yolanda, it would be a great match. Alice, tell me, can I still have a good life with this kind of person coming in?" Bella was full of bitterness.
Alice didn't think Yolanda was the kind of person who would enter the Davis Family mansion.
If Adam really liked Yolanda, he would only live in the Imperial Garden, clearly separated from the Davis Family.
