"Alice," Bella held Alice's hand.
Alice snapped out of her thoughts and saw the sorrowful expression on her aunt's face. "You don't know, although I married into the Davis Family and live a life that everyone envies, I paid a price for it. I promised to never have children."
Alice had always wondered why her aunt and uncle had been together for so many years without having any children. Now she knew the reason.
"So, Alice, please stay? I know you are trying to find a way to leave, but don't go. Stay with your aunt, can you? If you leave, your aunt won't have any family left," Bella pleaded.
Alice was in a dilemma. "Aunt, I...I have no choice. When Adam stops bothering me, I will come back, okay?"
She had no choice. She had a child.
If she didn't have a child, she would be willing to stay with her aunt...
"I know I shouldn't ask you for anything. All of this is my fault..." Bella felt guilty.
"Aunt, it's not your fault, it's not..." Alice denied.Who would have known that Adam would be so terrible, staring at her relentlessly?
Bella touched her hair and pitied her. "Don't have any psychological pressure. Do what you want to do, leave the devil, live a good life, and your aunt will be content."
"Thank you, Auntie," Alice said as Bella left. She immediately thought of the phone and went to the bathroom drawer where she found a brand new phone with a SIM card already inserted. It would be useful when she needed to escape.
But there was another problem. What about her mother? Should she leave her behind to live alone?
Her mother had never found happiness in her life, and Alice felt she had to do something for her in her old age. She couldn't hate her own mother, despite their past.
She picked up the new phone and called her mother. "Mom, do you have a passport?"
"No, why would I need one? I'm not going anywhere."
"Well, I was thinking that when we leave Star City, you should come with me and the child. I've been planning this for a while."
Mia had already accepted Alice's plan. "Mom, come with us. I probably won't come back, and even if I do, I don't know when. You'll be alone here."
Her aunt was different. She had married into a wealthy family and had her uncle to take care of her. But her mother had nothing.
"Alice, I...I won't go. I won't be able to adjust to life abroad. Besides, who knows what the future holds? Maybe I'll find a companion and be able to live my life."
"Do you really not want to be with your daughter? Mom, I want you to come with me," Alice said.
"Alice, you saying that makes me very happy already. You just need to take care of the child..." Mia replied, refusing to leave with them.
Alice had no choice but to take the child with her first.
Just as she lay down in bed after taking a shower, Ethan called.
"Hello?"
"Alice, when can you get your passport? I can help you get it so Adam won't find out."
Alice hadn't had a chance to use her passport normally, so she agreed, "Okay."
"I was thinking, once you have your passport, I'll come pick you up and buy your plane ticket at the same time."Alice thought that if it went this smoothly, she could leave tomorrow.
It all seemed too easy and unbelievable.
"Are you sure...there won't be any problems?" Alice was still worried.
"Don't you trust me?" Ethan's gentle voice came through.
Alice did trust him. He had always been helping her.
Since Ethan had everything prepared, she needed to discuss a plan with her mother.
She hadn't seen her child in the past few days, afraid that something might happen.
Everything was discussed over the phone.
The plan was to leave at night.
Ethan had booked a flight for after midnight.
At eleven o'clock, Alice was dressed and ready, carrying only a bag and nothing else.
She left her phone at home and made her way to the back door of the apartment building via the emergency staircase. When she saw Ethan's car waiting for her, she ran over to it with excitement.
Ethan opened the car door for her.
Alice didn't say much and got in the car.
The Porsche sped towards the airport.
"Don't be nervous," Ethan reassured her.
Alice tried to relax and forced a stiff smile, "I ran away once before, but Adam caught me on the plane."
"It won't happen this time. I've taken care of everything in advance. Adam is still busy at Dragon Group and doesn't have time for you," Ethan said.
Alice nodded, hoping she wouldn't have to come back...
The car raced on the road, getting further and further away from the city.
This wasn't surprising, as the airport was located in the suburbs.
"Do you want to take a break? I'll wake you up when we get there," Ethan asked.
"How could I possibly sleep at this time?" Alice replied.Ethan understood and didn't say anything else.
Alice leaned against the car window, watching the trees in the dark night retreat like ghostly claws.
Her heart was tightly bound, her breathing unusually heavy.
Gradually, the Porsche slowed down.
Alice realized that the car had stopped, but outside was not the airport.
After all, they had only been on the road for a short while, and it would take at least forty minutes to get to the airport.
"Why did we stop..." Alice began to ask, but the outside lights suddenly brightened, instantly illuminating everything like daylight. The light pierced through the windshield, causing her to instinctively shield her eyes.
Her sense of unease grew infinitely stronger.
When the lights ahead finally turned off, Alice looked up and saw the black Rolls-Royce clearly, like a cheetah blocking their way!
Alice's face turned as white as paper. She reached out to grab Ethan's arm, "Ethan...quick...let's go!"
"We can't leave," Ethan replied."What...?" Alice wanted to say more, but her hand was pulled away, leaving her stunned. "Ethan...?"
Ethan got out of the car and walked towards Adam.
Alice watched as Ethan spoke to Adam, then turned and waved at her.
Alice couldn't help but tremble, unable to believe what she was seeing. Ethan's hand was resting on Adam's shoulder, his face beaming with a smile...
How could this be?
Where did she go wrong?
Ethan had always been there to help her!
Ethan walked over and leaned his hand on the half-open car window. "Hey, aren't you getting out? We're at the airport!"
"You..."
"Oh well, I was hoping to play with you a little longer. I didn't expect it to be so easy to fool you. You're just as cute as before!" Ethan grinned, revealing his perfectly white teeth, with a slightly disappointed expression.
