A few days into your second summer in Ireland, Cormac comes to see you in your room at the Wolf's Head.
Cormac often seems to find your company intensely frustrating, even enraging at times, and yet he seeks it out. You suspect that part of Cormac enjoys the rivalry between you, the put-downs and insults, and likes the fact that, unlike almost everyone else, you're not at all intimidated by him.
"Ewu," he says without preamble. "I need your help."
"Hello to you too."
"What? Why?"
"Mmm. Let's hear it."
"My help? You really must be desperate."
