"Because they're there. Because I want to see what's down there. Don't you?"

"It's always miserable this time of year. After school starts, me and Simon go to our school, Kitty goes to hers, and Cormac and Daniel go to theirs, and you go back to London. We're not all together again for months."
"So we should all go down a dark hole in the ground together," Simon explains.
"Exactly," Claudia says. "It's the obvious course of action."
"Dark hole in the ground, here we come."
I sigh. "If you say so."
"Well, good. I've been curious about those caves ever since you first mentioned them."
