A few days later, Michael Duffy arrives at the Wolf's Head. He's a wiry, prematurely balding, red-eyed man with a thick Dublin accent, always dressed in a tracksuit and a leather jacket. He unconvincingly claims to be a tourist in the area, although he rarely leaves his room and seems uncomfortable and ill at ease whenever he's not surrounded by four walls. Maire seems to immediately clock him for what he is, and shakes her head.
"Trouble. Orla O'Donnell's up to something, I'd be guessing. Oh well. As long as he pays his bill and doesn't frighten the horses."
You keep your distance and carry on with your own affairs. Duffy stays for a few days, then departs. His business with the O'Donnells, whatever it was, has been concluded.
