Chapter Five
Julian's pov
I stood by my office window staring down at the little retrieving figure.
"How did she even get in here?" I asked myself but I had no clue.
I saw her two nights ago and she was running some sort of investigation on me which on a normal day would have landed her dead but here I am watching this little figure walk out of the headquarters.
I heard a knock on the door, I turned to see Lucas pop his head through the door.
"Boss….you called?" He said and I signaled for him to come in. I took my seat, while I drank my whiskey.
"Do you know anyone called Aurora?" I asked the question directly.
He looked confused, "No….I don't think so. Is the person a problem that needs to be fixed?"
I paused at the question, "Was she a problem? Yes but do I want her to be fixed? I don't think so." Sigh, "What is this little girl doing to me?"
"No….but I need you to keep an eye on her. She is on to me." I picked up a cute picture of Aurora and gave it to him.
"Why don't we just solve it the normal way?" He asked and I shot him a glare which made him shut up, "I should get going!" He turned to move out of my office.
"Lucas?" I called him and he halted at the door, "Don't let anything happen to her but if she is close to something make sure she doesn't get anything that would cause us more trouble, get it?"
He gave a nod and walked out of the office.
I picked up my tab as I continued staring at her picture. Why was a cute, little girl doing in the most dangerous part of the world?
When I met her at the bar, my right hand, Trevor, had told me I was being investigated. I was going to end the person but when I saw her, I paused. She looked scared but still tried to pull a brave front.
That was the first time I showed my face to her but it was dark she didn't see me so well, which made her shocked seeing me for the second time in a row.
I loved the little game we were playing—-I don't know why, but it was something that I wanted to see how it ended. Probably my life had been so boring—-that should be the reason.
My door pushed open, and my eyes went up to see who the fuck was disturbing me and it was none other than my bitch, Alexandra.
She walked in seductively, her body surgically enhanced, her face alert, makeup fully on. If it was before she turned me on by the way she moved but seeing her today, I was irritated.
She sat on my lap, as her hands moved through my chest.
"Hey….I missed you." She said and her voice suddenly felt like sharp glasses.
"What do you want, Alex?" I asked not really in the mood
She was taken aback by the question, "Some seem to be grumpy today!" She looked around and her eyes landed on my iPad, where Aurora's picture was on display.
"Is she the problem?
I shut down the iPad, "don't think about it!" I said to her and her eyebrows went up.
"Do you want me to take care of her?" Alex asked, she kept pushing.
"Hmm…It is being taken care of."
"So why are you still grumpy?" Alex asked me, as her she continued to move her hands on my chest.
I couldn't get rid of Alex, she was the daughter of my dad's friend so it was hard to throw her down the roof. It has been fun using it to keep myself sexual but today she did not call me.
"Alex, I'm not just in the mood for this," I said to her.
She sighed and stood up from my body, "Okay…" she turned to leave but she stopped "We would be having a meeting with Dad and Uncle." She opened the door and walked out before I could decline.
My phone beeped immediately, I picked it up to see a text from my dad
MEET ME AT HOME IN THE NEXT HOUR!
I stared at the message that had no context to it. On a normal day, it was not a problem but now if we were meeting up with Uncle then it was definitely a sound of marriage.
"Fuck…" I ran my hands through my hair.
I stood up from my chair, feeling a sense of unease. I had been trying to avoid this conversation for months, but it seemed like my dad was not going to let it slide.
I grabbed my jacket and headed out of the office, my mind racing with thoughts of what my dad was going to say. I knew that he had been pushing for me to get married, but I had been trying to stall him.
As I arrived at my dad's house, I could see that he was already there, sitting in the living room with my uncle. I took a deep breath and walked in, trying to compose myself.
"Julian, good to see you," my dad said, standing up to greet me.
I nodded at him, trying to play it cool. "Dad, Uncle," I said, nodding at them.
My dad gestured for me to sit down, and I did, trying to prepare myself for what was coming.
"Julian, we need to talk about your future," my dad said, getting straight to the point.
I knew where this was going, and I tried to interrupt him, but he held up his hand.
"Let me finish, Julian. You're 25 years old, and it's time for you to settle down. Your uncle here has a daughter, and we think she would be perfect for you."
I felt a surge of anger at this, but I tried to keep my cool. "Dad, I don't think that's a good idea," I said, trying to reason with him.
But my dad was not having it. "Julian, this is not up for discussion. You will marry your uncle's daughter, and that's final."
I felt a sense of trapped, and I knew that I had to think fast if I was going to get out of this situation. But for now, I just nodded, trying to play along.
"Okay, Dad. I'll do it," I said, trying to sound convincing.
But as I stood up to leave, I couldn't help but think of Aurora, and how I was going to get out of this mess.
