Chapter Eleven
"I gave the papers back to Lucas and signalled him to give them to Aurora.
"What is this?" She asked with her eyes wide open as she had read the title written boldly on the paper
'MARRIAGE CONTRACT'
"Sign the papers or you are not going anywhere!" I said.
She turned to me and for the first time I saw fear in her eyes.
"Huh.. afraid of a simple marriage contract?" I said.
"I thought you were a fearless journalist." I said with a hint of sarcasm in my tone.
"Let me go! What do you want from me?" She pleaded.
"Sign the papers and that's all." I replied.
I walked to my desk to grab a pen and handed it to her.
"It's not so difficult, is it?" I continued.
"I have to read it first!" She commanded.
"I'm the boss here, don't think you can boss me around." I said with an indifferent tone.
"Now sign the papers!" I commanded with gritted teeth.
She stared at her paper once more and her body began to vibrateShe fell to the floor immediately and I rushed to help her in panic.
"Get a doctor, quick!" I said to Lucas.
…
I opened my eyes slowly and the blur image of the room came in view slowly.
I scanned the room and realized that I was indeed still in Julian's office.
I had thought all I had experienced was all a dream, but it turned out to be reality.
I narrowed my eyes to the left and found him sitted on his office chair with his eyes closed…
This was the best time to escape, I said to myself.
I got up from the sofa where I was laid and tiptoed slowly towards the door.
"Going somewhere?"
I suddenly heard the voice of the mean devil..
I turned slowly towards him and he had a wicked smirk on his face.
"You have signed the contract young lady!" He said.
"I can get you to be forced to do that, don't you know?" He continued.
"Such an evil asshole" I muttered under my breath.
"What was that?" He asked with an eyebrow up.
"Nothing!, I just wanted to go pee." I lied..
"Oh that's great..but it's that way, dumpling." He pointed to the door of a room close to his desk.
"Oh..I didn't know!" I acted as though I had mixed up the doors.
"Of course you didn't!" He said knowingly.
"Um..I'll go now!" I said and forced a smile before rushing into the bathroom.
At least it was better to quit seeing the face of that mean devil, instead standing there staring at him contemplating whether or not to sign the contract or not…
I sighed immediately I got into the bathroom..
With my back against the door I sighed again..
Why was my life like this, I asked myself..
Just one job could bring such a big problem like this..
I need help, I kept on saying..
I squatted with my back still against the wall and my two hands on my head..
What have I gotten into myself, I asked myself.
A marriage contract to a notorious Mafian could cause a lot danger to me- and most especially the people around me.
But…
Still, it could be the only way I could actually be able to crack this mischief and get to the Mafian boss himself- Julian's father…
I thought for a while before making my decision..
I was going to sign the contract!
Because no matter what I had to find the truth behind the underworld and bring them to justice..
Unless New York City would be in grave danger..
And that was why I was going to sign the contract- For everyone in New York City.
So I could finish up this job and finally be free..
Just some more time needed.., and it's over..
I tried to convince myself.
But what if I can't handle it and I have to quit?.
Well then, in that case I would lose my job and be useless..
I made up my mind and summoned all the courage I could utter to walk back into the main office.
He was still sitted in his car quietly waiting for me to return.
I stood in front of in desk and breathed in severally.. before saying,
"I have made up my mind and I'll sign the contract." I said and his evil smirk came up on his face again.
"Now you are being a good girl, little dumpling." He placed the contract file on the desk and placed a pen on it.
Then he relaxed back on his chair and watched my every move.
"You wouldn't have been able to escape anyways as the door was actually locked." He said.
I had guessed so but asked as though I didn't care.
I picked up the pen and said my papers as though it was the time of my death.
But.. truly it was as scary as it..
"I thought you were brave, why do you look so scared?" He asked sarcastically and I wished I could take out his eyes and feed them to dogs.
But I definitely couldn't, so I ignored him and signed the contract with shaky hands.
"That's a good girl." He said with the same smirk still on his face.
"It wasn't so had now, was it?" He asked and the forced a nod.
"Lucas" he called and the door was opened by his secretary.
'So it wasn't locked afterall' I realized that he had lied and I had fallen for it.
So if only he hadn't woken up, that if he was indeed asleep then I would have been able to flee away..
But still he could tell the security to stop me as soon as I realized that I was gone.
Well, the past is the past..
Now I had to focus on the future and that meant that I had to accept to be his wife for some time.
Speaking of time, I didn't even know the time duration because I didn't read the contract, so I decided to ask.
"How long will the contract last?."
"A Year!" Julian replied.
My eyes werewide open when he said that and I began to sweat..
Be with a Mafian for a whole YEAR!
That was definitely too much, but I had signed it already so it was too late..
