Chapter 20 - Dream Eater(3)

The cycle restarted once more.

Avasyu woke up at the exact moment after electrifying the monster. No matter what he had done in the previous attempt, nothing seemed to change.

The chief wasn't much help, and Avasyu realized that he needed someone more reliable. His guard. Here, in this facility, the chief and his guard were the only ones he could depend on.

Wasting no time, he rushed toward the guard's room.He still had the electric gun from the chief's room, but as he stepped into the hall, he noticed something alarming—the monsters were already gathering. And One of them emerged from the guard's room.

There was no doubt now. His guard had already been devoured. There was nothing he could do. Helpless, he lowered the gun, his mind blank.

There was no point in running anymore. No matter how many times he tried, he kept returning to this moment. "If I get killed by the monsters," he thought, "I'll only restart after the first electrification."

So he stood there, waiting for death. But then, a thought struck him.

He would only restart from that point if he died by the monsters. But what if he electrified himself?

There was no doubt it would reset him. But what if he did it again? Would he go even further back—to when he first woke up?

To find the answer, Avasyu wasted no time He raised the electric gun, pointed it at himself, and pulled the trigger.A sharp jolt of electricity coursed through his body.

One. Two. Three. His limbs convulsed.

Four. His vision blurred.

Five. Darkness swallowed him whole.Everything went black.Once again, he found himself chasing the white light through the void. When he opened his eyes, he was back in the chief's room. But this time, he didn't wake the chief.

Moving quickly, he searched through the book sack, found the electric gun, and without hesitation, aimed it at himself. This time pressing the barrel against his chin.

Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes and pulled the trigger. It worked.

When his eyes opened again, he was back But not in the chief's room. Not in the middle of the crisis,He had rewound further-all the way back to when he first woke up that day.

Wasting no time, he bolted out of bed and rushed to the chief's room. He retrieved the electric gun before the chaos even began. Then, without hesitation, he ran straight to his guard's room.

Upon arrival, he pointed the gun at his guard and fired. The electric shock jolted through his body, but instead of killing him it only stunned him awake.

The guard shot up in surprise, eyes wide with confusion.

"Avasyu?! What the hell?! Why did you shoot me?!"

A wave of relief washed over Avasyu-his guard was still alive. But there was no time to relax.

Breathing heavily, he steadied himself and said, "Listen to me. There's no time to explain everything, but you need to know this--monsters are coming. And I know how to stop them."

His guard looked at him, utterly confused. "What? What monster?"

Before Avasyu could respond, a monster lurched toward the doorway.Without hesitation, Avasyu fired the electric gun multiple times. Bolts of electricity crackled through the air, striking the creature.

It froze in place, convulsing violently before finally collapsing. Lifeless,

The guard watched in stunned silence. His confusion deepened, but he was sharp- he quickly pieced together what was happening.

This was no ordinary creature. It was a new type of mutant, and it needed to be killed.

But there was no time to dwell on it.A guttural growl echoed through the hall. More monsters were closing in.

Avasyu and his guard exchanged a glance- there was no time to waste. They sprinted toward the chief's room, knowing it was farther from the incoming threats.

Once inside, they wasted no time. Avasyu pointed the gun at the chief and fired. A sharp jolt ran through his body, forcing him awake.

The chief gasped, jolting upright. His eyes darted around in confusion.

"What's going on?!"

Avasyu didn't hesitate. "No time to explain We need to move. Now."

They sprinted toward the stairs leading down-only to be met with monsters.

Dozens of them, blocking their path.

Without hesitation, they changed direction racing toward the rooftop. As they burst through the rooftop door Avasyu's heart pounded. The space was empty--no monsters, no immediate danger. But it wouldn't last. The creatures were closing in.

Avasyu quickly scanned the facility, trying to count their numbers. There were at least 50 of them lurking inside.

To take them all down, they would need at least 300 electric bullets, he calculated. He turned to the chief urgently.

"Do we have that many bullets? Or more guns?"

The chief shook his head grimly.

"No. We don't have nearly enough."

Panic set in. Without more ammunition, the monsters would keep coming. They needed a new plan. But before they could think of one, their time ran out.The monsters poured onto the rooftop, surrounding them. There was no way back.

No way down

No escape.

Avasyu clenched the gun. There was only one option left.

Restart.

Without hesitating, he lifted the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

Click!

Nothing.

The gun was empty. His breath caught in his throat. There was no way out. Then The monsters lunged and Darkness consumed him.

Everything went black.

But this time, there was no white light.

Instead, a bright white screen appeared before Avasyu, glowing in the darkness.Curious and cautious, he stepped closer. A video was playing.

On the screen, a tall humanoid creature stood in the middle of a dense forest. The surroundings were dark—it was clearly nighttime. Shadows stretched between the trees, but one figure remained fully visible.

It was her.

A towering, eerie presence. She looked different from the other monsters. Her features, though monstrous, held an air of intelligence. Unlike the mindless creatures Avasyu had fought, she wasn't just some mutated beast.

And she wasn't alone.

Around her, countless red eyes glowed in the darkness. Familiar eyes. The same ones that had haunted him inside the facility. The monsters of COH.

They stood, watching. Waiting. Listening.

Then, she spoke.

A strange, guttural language filled the air. Yet, somehow… Avasyu understood every word.

She was angry.

Her voice dripped with frustration as she scolded the monsters.

"Fools! You are too slow. Bring me the dreams I need. My child must be fed."

Avasyu's breath caught.

"Dreams?"

"What did she mean by dreams? And more importantly—who was her child?"

Avasyu's eyes snapped open.He was back--inside the guard's room--just after waking him up.

The guard, still confused, looked at him. "What did you do?! Why did you do that?!"

But Avasyu barely heard him. His mind was elsewhere.

"Who was that monster? Were there others like her? And what did she mean by her child?"

He wasn't sure if what he saw was real. He needed to confirm it. So without hesitation, he raised the electric gun and shot himself again.

Darkness. He returned to the black fog. But this time.

Nothing

No screen. No video.

His eyes opened once more. He was back in his room.

"His heart pounded. Why didn't I see the video this time? Was it because I killed myself?"

Realizing he needed a different approach, he grabbed the gun from the chief's room then rushed back to the guard's room.He stunned the guard awake as usual. But this time, he did something different.

He didn't kill the monster that entered the room.Instead, he let it come closer. And then-he let it consume him.His vision faded.

And he was right. The screen appeared again. It was the same video.

The humanoid creature. The forest. The red-eyed monsters.

If killing himself doesn't trigger it.. then being killed by the monsters does.

This was the key.

Now, all he had to do was understand what how and who.

Avasyu's mind raced.

"What did she mean by dreams? How is she talking like a person? Who is her child?"

He needed answers. This time, when the video played, something was different An extra footage.

He watched in stunned silence as the monsters approached the humanoid creature. One by one, they vomited out human heads in front of her.But the heads were intact. No bite marks. No signs of damage.

Then, the female monster picked up a head in her clawed hands. With one quick motion, she pried open the skull-not to eat the brain, but to extract something else.

A glowing stone.

It shimmered, pulsating with an eerie light as she held it between her fingers. Then, without hesitation, she swallowed it.Avasyu's eyes widened as he watched the light travel down her body-until it reached her stomach.

She's pregnant.

She repeated the process with every head. Extracting the glowing stone. Eating it. Feeding her unborn child.

And as she did, she spoke again

"This stone... is important. My child needs more."

Everything clicked.

Avasyu's eyes snapped open. He was back- inside the guard's room, after waking him up.But this time... he understood.

She is the leader of the monsters. She's the reason behind everything.

She also isn't just any monster. She's intelligent. And She speaks.

And The glowing stones are the 'dreams' she was talking about.

She is the leader. The new type of mutant that is so dangerous as well as intelligent.

And she's creating something worse.

The Dream Eater.
