Chapter 23 - A New Power(3)

Avasyu woke up from the dream, returning to the same restart point. He opened his eyes in the middle of his meditation in the atrium. Rising to his feet, he turned to his guard and locked eyes with him.

"Are my eyes glowing?" he asked.

The guard nodded. "Yes, they are."

A wave of relief and joy washed over Avasyu—he knew exactly what was coming next. Tilting his head back, he gazed at the sky, picturing the lightning strike that was about to hit him. As he visualized it, his eyes instinctively shut for a moment. Realizing this, he quickly forced them open.

Then it happened.

A blinding bolt of lightning struck him from nowhere, splitting the air with a deafening crack.

The thunderous impact echoed across the atrium, drawing the attention of nearby monsters earlier than expected. The guard, stunned by both the lightning and the terrifying creatures closing in, rushed to Avasyu's side. He grabbed his arm, eyes wide with concern.

"Are you okay?"

Avasyu groaned, then broke into a grin.

"That was... ugh... awesome. It was... shocking." He chuckled at his own joke.

He was different again. The seriousness in his eyes had softened, but his determination remained unchanged.

Avasyu had just been struck by lightning and was still standing. But there was no time to dwell on it—the monsters were closing in.

He turned to his guard. "Hand me the machete."

Without hesitation, the guard obeyed. But this time, Avasyu had another request.

"Don't fight them. Just stand behind me and guide me. Teach me how to use this properly—I'll handle the rest."

The guard hesitated, gripping the weapon for a moment longer than necessary. He wasn't sure if this was a good idea.

Sensing his doubt, Avasyu met his gaze. "Just this once. Believe in me."

The guard still wavered but, in the end, placed his faith in him.

The fight began as Avasyu charged forward

eyes glowing with power. His intent was

clear--eradicate the monsters with his

newfound strength. Lightning crackled

around him as he advanced, his grip

tightening around the machete.

His guard, standing behind him, called out

instructions.

"Hold the machete tightly with one hand.

The electricity will flow through it."

Avasyu obeyed, gripping the handle firmly

Sparks danced along the blade.

"Now, strike the bottom eye of the monster.

Drive the blade upward, straight to its

mouth-cut it open

Avasyu followed the command precisely

The machete slashed through the creature

lightning surging through its body. It

screeched before collapsing.

More monsters were closing in. They weren't yet able to surround them completely, but they were slowly tightening their circle

The battle was far from over.

This was their chance to fight.Avasyu pressed on, following his guard's guidance as the battle raged.

"Slice their necks from left to right--use both hands on the handle. Then strike again at the same spot, but this time, drive the machete through the wound and split their heads open. It should be easy-they don't seem to have bones."

Avasyu executed the technique flawlessly. With each precise strike, another monster fell. Electricity surged through his blade, amplifying every cut.

One. Two. Three.

Ten monsters lay dead,But it wasn't enough.

The air grew heavy as more creatures emerged from the shadows. The sun had set -it was 6 PM, their time.

Forty more monsters had already surrounded them. The real fight was just beginning.

They still fought, but they were soon outnumbered as the monsters swarmed over them, forcing Avasyu to restart once again. This attempt was only a slight improvement from the previous one, but it still counted. He just needed to master the machete and kill them all.

This time, there were no more visions. He simply walked into the area filled with black fog, heading toward the white light. Without hesitation, he stepped forward and arrived at the same restart point.

Determined to waste less time, he immediately asked his guard to teach him how to fight.

He improved. He fought harder, killed more, and this time, he managed to slay around twenty monsters before the inevitable happened, the monsters overwhelmed him once again, and his head was swallowed whole.

He tried again. And again. And again—until he restarted for the seventh time. On his seventh attempt, he finally did it. He slaughtered all fifty monsters, wiping them out from the facility.

With no more threats in sight, he and his guard moved to wake everyone up. As they walked, the guard bombarded him with questions.

"How do you know how to wield a machete?"

"How did you survive the lightning strike?"

"How do you know the monsters' weakness?"

"How did you know they put everyone to sleep?"

"What are you hiding from us?"

Avasyu ignored him, focusing on their mission. But the guard's patience wore thin. He grabbed Avasyu's hand, forcing him to stop.

Avasyu turned to face him. His glowing eyes met the guard's tense gaze.

"What's happening to you?" the guard demanded.

Avasyu took a deep breath and finally spoke.

"There's a bigger threat than this," he said.

"And I need everyone here to save this place. So please… let me wake them up."

They proceeded to wake the chief first. It was still nighttime, and the facility remained eerily quiet, with no sign of the monsters.

The guard used the electric gun to jolt the chief awake. Though the guard had incorporated its technology into his machete, he had kept the gun itself for emergencies.

As the chief jolted awake from the electric shock, Avasyu quickly stepped forward.

"Calm down," he said, his voice steady.

Still disoriented, the chief looked around in confusion. Avasyu didn't give him time to dwell on it.

"Follow me," he said. "I need to show you something."

The chief, already shaken, got another shock—this time not from electricity, but from the sight before him. His eyes widened as he took in the scene.

The facility floor was littered with the corpses of monsters.

He turned to the guard, his voice filled with disbelief.

"What… what are these? Who did this? What's going on here?"

The guard pointed at Avasyu.

"Him. He killed them," he said. "Using your electric gun and my handmade electric machete."

The chief stared at Avasyu, struggling to believe what he was hearing.

As they made their way back to the chief's office, Avasyu turned to his guard.

"Wake the other guards and bring them to the office. I'll explain everything to the chief in the meantime."

Avasyu then proceeded to explain everything to the chief, though he carefully omitted the part about the visions he had seen.

After some time, the guard returned, having woken up all the other guards, who followed him, their faces filled with surprise at the sight of the monster corpses.

Once everyone was gathered inside the chief's office, Avasyu sat at the table and turned to look at the chief with his glowing gray eyes. The chief, still seated, gave a subtle nod in acknowledgment.

Avasyu didn't waste time. He addressed everyone in simple terms, ensuring no time was wasted in explanation. He went over everything—the monsters, their weaknesses, and the details of the female monster and the Dream Eater.

Once he had finished explaining, he laid out his strategy.

"And....This is how we'll defeat them," he said, pausing for effect as he rose to his feet.

Avasyu walked toward the guards, his eyes sharp.

"For the next 24 hours, you will all follow my lead," he ordered.

He paused before delivering his final words, his tone resolute.

"We have a war to finish."
