Chapter 22 - A New Power(2)

With his cold, glowing eyes, Avasyu demanded the guard hand over the weapon. It was a machete with a handle infused with electricity. As his grip tightened, crackling energy surged through the blade's sharp edges, ready to strike with lethal force.

The guard's breath hitched as the facility was swallowed by complete darkness. The overhead lights flickered once—then died.

A thick, oppressive silence followed.

Then—The glow of dozens of red eyes emerged. They floated in the dark like embers from a dying fire, scattered across the Atrium.Dozens of them. Maybe more.Almost 50.

The guard instinctively raised his electric gun, his golden eyes adjusting quickly. But even with his enhanced vision, he could only make out the monsters' eyes.

Their bodies? Completely hidden. It was as if the darkness itself was their ally.

His hands trembled. He hated this. Fighting an enemy he couldn't fully see was suicide. Then—he turned to Avasyu. And froze.

Avasyu… wasn't scared. He wasn't even reacting. He stood there, calmly, gripping the machete. His glowing gray eyes weren't just adjusting to the darkness—

They were seeing through it.He could see everything.

The monsters' bodies. Their movements. Their exact numbers. And yet—his face remained… different.

This was something else.He was unnaturally calm. His expression lacked hesitation, fear, or even the rush of adrenaline.

For the first time, the guard felt like he wasn't standing beside Avasyu. He was standing beside something else entirely.

Avasyu took a step forward. The darkness didn't matter to him. He could see.

The first monster lunged. Its gaping mouth opened wide, aiming straight for his head.

But Avasyu was faster. His machete sliced across the area just below its glowing red eyes.

A deep gash. But-No blood,The wound was real, yet the creature didn't bleed. It staggered slightly, but it wasn't enough

So he sliced again.

Deeper.

The monster recoiled, its eerie, breathy growl echoing in the darkness.Avasyu's mind worked fast.

No blood. No pain. No strategy.

They only had one instinct- bite the head. They weren't fighting. They were feeding. That was their only purpose.

They didn't dodge. Didn't counterattack Didn't even show aggression beyond their endless hunger.

Avasyu's grip on his machete tightened.

They were incomplete. They didn't know how to fight. And if they couldn't fight-

They could be outmatched.

Avasyu attacked multiple monsters, wounding them deeply. In response, they released a strange gas from their mouths-a lot of it. He didn't know what it was, but he assumed it was poison. He was wrong

When he glanced behind him, he saw his guard still fighting. But as soon as the guard inhaled the gas, he became dizzy, collapsed to the ground, and started snoring--fast asleep.

Realizing this was how the monsters put their enemies to sleep, Avasyu knew he was now on his own. Fighting them alone would be difficult, but he refused to back down

However, before he could react, more monsters swarmed him from behind, overwhelming him.

His body shivered as he sensed the looming presence of death, yet it never came. The creatures were massive and heavy, surrounding him completely, leaving him no space to attack.

Then, one of them lunged forward and swallowed his head-sending him back to the restart point.

Avasyu returned to the restart point, but this time, something was different. As he opened his eyes, new visions flooded his mind.

He saw the same scenes as before—but now, there was more. He watched as the female monster bestowed dreams upon the Dream Eater. This time, he saw his own head among them.

The monster's voice echoed in his mind: "When did I get this lucky? A special dream! For my child."

Avasyu couldn't understand why she called it a special dream. But as the vision continued, the truth became clear. The monster hadn't just stolen his dreams—she had taken something else.

His eyes.His glowing gray eyes.

This time, the visions revealed only this much.

Avasyu returned to the restart point and opened his eyes. He was meditating in the middle of the Atrium. Once again, the monsters approached, surrounding him from every side.

But this time, he didn't resist. Instead of fighting, he stepped toward them, allowing them to take his head. He needed to see more.To uncover the truth hidden within the visions.

"I hope this time, I'll find a way to kill them all."

The monsters swallowed his head, and once again, Avasyu was pulled into a vision.

This time, he saw what happened after the female monster had taken his eyes. At first, she had intended to give them to her child. She had even tried to swallow them. But in the end, she changed her mind.

She wanted her child to develop its own naturally powerful eyes.

So instead, she removed her own glowing dark red eyes and replaced them with Avasyu's gray ones. Her body adapted to them effortlessly, as if they had always belonged to her.

Avasyu saw the rest of the extra scenes unfold before him.But this time, the vision revealed something more—something about the true power of the gray eyes.

Avasyu watched, mesmerized, as their hidden potential unfolded before him.

Avasyu's eyes opened once again in the same Atrium. But this time, something was different.

Curiosity.

The monsters surrounded them, just as before, but Avasyu wasn't thinking about them. His mind was elsewhere. His glowing gray eyes reflected a deep sense of wonder as he gazed up at the sky.

His guard watched him, surprised.

"Why is he looking at the sky at a time like this?"

When the female monster replaced her eyes with the gray ones, they began to glow intensely. But the power within those eyes was unlike anything she had expected.

As soon as she took them, her gaze instinctively shifted to the sky. The sky was clear—calm and undisturbed. Then, without warning, a bolt of lightning struck her from above.

It wasn't random. It felt as if the lightning had been meant to destroy her. But it didn't.

Instead, it granted her something else—control over lightning itself. Or rather, the power to command electricity.

Then, the vision ended, leaving Avasyu with a new revelation—a way to break the cycle and escape back to the real world.

The path was clear now. He knew what he had to do.
