Chapter 5 - Revelation

Cecily had a boyfriend who was struggling to make ends meet. Though she loved Chris, she always had eyes for bigger things. So, when she caught the attention of one of the richest men in town, she didn't hesitate to abandon her boyfriend of four years for greener pastures.

Neron was swept off his feet when he first set eyes on the mesmerizing beauty who carried herself with so much aura. Though it was rumored she was already with another man, he didn't hesitate to believe her when she said those were all lies.

Wasting no time, he soon asked for her hand in marriage, and everything sailed smoothly. Because of the nature of his work, he was frequently on business trips, which caused him to be away from home most of the time.

Overtaken by boredom, Cecily couldn't help but think of Chris, even though she hated to admit she still loved him. Swallowing her pride, she began seeing him again, since her husband was rarely in town.

At first, Chris, still nursing his broken heart, refused her, wanting nothing to do with a married woman, especially one who had abandoned him. However, when she persisted, he resolved to hurt her just as she had hurt him.

Cecily was ecstatic when Chris finally started talking to her again. He even claimed to have forgiven her. One night, he invited her over to his house, and she happily went, her body yearning for his touch.

But things went sideways pretty soon. It was a dark night with chilly wind. She could still remember vividly. Her husband wasn't home and she decided to pay her boyfriend a visit, then Chris invited some 'friends' of his, whom she jovially entertained. But what happened in the end? They gang raped her right in the kitchen. They were eight men and even took videos. The humiliation, the torture wasn't something she wanted to remember for the rest of her life, but it was etched into her entire end.

And do you know what is the funniest thing about that? It was that she actually got pregnant.

Yes, pregnant with a child of some father she has no idea of.

Her heart was filled with bitterness, but there was nothing she could do. Getting rid of the pregnancy was out of the question; she might be exposed, and that would be the end of her.

The only comfort Cecily had was that Neron didn't think too deep into it. He was overjoyed to become a father.

As weeks turned into months and months into years, the bitterness in Cecily's heart only grew as she watched Ayla grow. Every time she looked at Ayla, she was reminded of that terrible night, causing her to channel all her hate and bitterness toward the child.

But the case was different for Neron, who seemed to love Ayla from the moment he learnt Cecily was pregnant.

When Cecily gave birth to Lisa, her hatred for Ayla only intensified, especially when she saw Ayla was Neron's favorite daughter. There was no way she would allow a bastard to be his favorite. So Cecily devised a solid plan to get rid of Ayla for good.

She would maltreat her, reducing her to nothing but a househelp. Over time, Ayla frequently fell ill, but they never took her to the hospital. Cecily made sure Neron believed it was nothing serious—just minor health issues. She even hired a quack personal doctor to check on Ayla at home.

Because of her frequent and mysterious health issues, Ayla didn't grow like her peers. She looked frail, small, and powerless. Her skin was always pale from staying indoors. When she wasn't being bullied by others at school for her looks, she was treated like a baby who couldn't decide anything for herself at home.

When Neron was away on business trips, Ayla was treated like scum, even by Lisa, who followed her mother's footsteps. Despite all this, Ayla didn't mind. She loved her family and assumed they only wanted the best for her.

To finally get rid of Ayla, Cecily found a pawn to do her bidding. She arranged for a man to marry Ayla, luring her away.

The plan worked perfectly because Ayla walked into their trap blindly. You couldn't blame her—who wouldn't be swept off their feet when a gentleman suddenly doted on them as if they were the only girl in town? Ayla's heart yearned for love because it was something she craved every day.

Ayla was overjoyed when her mother suddenly became supportive, urging her to give all her attention to Caleb, even though she was still in school. Even Lisa became her "best friend," advising her on how to keep Caleb happy.

When Caleb suddenly proposed, Ayla, caught off guard, declined at first. Her mind was filled with confusion. But Cecily hurriedly urged her to accept, insisting it was the right thing to do.

Neron was unhappy with the rush. Don't get him wrong—he was happy for his favorite daughter. But why propose so suddenly when she was still in school? He was left speechless when everyone, especially Cecily, was in full support.

Cecily urged Ayla to drop out of school and get married. Ayla, believing her mother knew best, happily agreed, seeing a future with Caleb. She accepted the proposal, feeling like the luckiest girl in town.

On her wedding night, she was the happiest. She happily collected the glass of wine Caleb had offered her, taking gentle sips as she stared at him lovingly, butterflies erupting in her stomach.

Her happiness was short-lived. Her heartbeat began to race painfully against her chest. At first, she thought it was one of her usual symptoms, but this time, it was more severe.

The pain intensified until she couldn't utter a single word. The glass fell from her pale fingers as she gasped, fighting for her next breath. Tears welled up in her eyes as she struggled for air. She reached out to Caleb, confused, only to see him sitting calmly, watching her with a cold, calculating gaze.

She groaned and collapsed to the ground, her eyes wide in shock. Caleb leisurely sipped his wine, as if watching a show.

With her mouth open but no words coming out, Ayla passed away, her heart burning with bitterness and rage at the realization that Caleb had killed her on purpose. Why? She had only wanted love. Why did she have to die like this?

Kylie tightened her fists in anger as the memories replayed in her mind. She had paid for sins she never committed. All she ever wanted was her family's love, but instead, they used and killed her.

She clenched her fists in pure rage as she remembered how she had been pushed off a cliff by her fiancé. Both of them had been wronged, and she would ensure no one escaped justice. She would stop at nothing to avenge their unjust deaths.

Trying to steady her breathing, Kylie calmly said,

"Since I'm now in your body, I'll make you feel justice."
