Cecily tried hard not to roll her eyes but instead, continued smiling.
"Caleb will get it, you aren't wrong enough to get anything yourself." Saying this, she shared a look with Caleb. The truth is, she didn't forget. She just wanted to make sure Ayla was truly alive before planning their next move. Her husband will be home soon, everything needs to be cleared before then!
"I said I'll get it myself." Kylie insisted when she saw their silent exchange. For all she knew, they would stop at no end to eliminate her.
"I'll get you some food baby." Caleb chimed in. Cecily had already ordered him on what to do, he just needed to get her food as an excuse.
"Gosh, why are you insisting so hard? I already said I'll get it myself, is that so hard to understand?" By now, Kylie was getting irritated. She hated repeating herself over and over again.
"What has gotten over you? How dare you use such a silly tone on us? After all we've done for you, you talk to us in such a harsh way?" Cecily couldn't contain herself anymore.
"Harsh? Ha! I would advise you to pay your dictionary a visit to learn more about that word. And again, what have you done for me?" Kylie rolled her eyes.
'You've done nothing for the former owner of this body and you definitely have done nothing for me. Better mind your words!' Kylie thought.
"You!"
"After staying sleepless nights just to make sure you are fine, you say this nonsense? Take a look at us, do we look like we've had any sleep in days? Caleb hasn't even eaten for days because of you!" By now, Cecily was outraged. Never in history has Ayla talked back at her in this manner. The weak girl doesn't even dare to look her in the eyes. What has changed now!"
"You guys look totally fine to me and speaking of Caleb, is that not a food crumb on his beard? And you, you claim you haven't had rest but you had enough time to do your makeup perfectly. Don't you think you're contradicting your own words?" Kylie was utterly relaxed. In fact, she was enjoying every moment, savoring the angry look on their faces.
Hearing her words, Caleb's face turned pink in embarrassment as he quickly cleaned his beard, getting rid of the crumb.
"What adult even eats and doesn't clean up properly!" Kylie added in joy when she saw the death glare on Cecily's face as she turned to Caleb.
"You…. Can you never do anything right?" Cecily thundered, directing her anger towards Caleb.
"It's a mistake, I swear. It must have entered my beard when I walked past a restaurant." Caleb managed to say.
'Damn it! He had secretly had something to eat and must have forgotten to clean properly because Cecily was blowing his phone up with calls.'
"You don't have to lie, we are humans after all and food is essential." Kylie added as she tried not to smile.
Turning back to her, Cecily was still angry. She is the master, she's the owner of this game, how come she's the one being mocked and it's because of this brat that suddenly thinks she can talk back to her.
Seeing Kylie's controlled face, Cecily realized she was being worked up easily. Heaving a deep breath, she tried to calm down.
" Ayla dear… are you feeling okay? This is unlike you, did you hit your head while we were gone?" She imputed with a smile, bringing back her collected self.
"I'm feeling good, I am completely fine." Kylie said as she tried not to roll her eyes at Cecily's fake smile.
"Then why are you___"
"When are you guys leaving? I need to go get something to eat as soon as possible and I would love to be alone while I enjoy my meal."
"Are you asking us to leave?" Cecily had to ask. The nerve of this girl was becoming unbearable.
"You can't spend the night here and since there's nothing more for us to say, you can as well leave. I'm not supposed to even talk too much, the doctor said so himself." Kylie answered. True, all the talking was already draining her and she needed all the strength she could get.
There was a moment of silence as Cecily tried not to say anything rash. In as much as Ayla was saying the truth, it still annoyed her to no end.
Caleb on the other hand was already fidgeting because Kylie locked eyes with him and refused to look away. The scary part was that she was staring at him with so much coldness and she wasn't even blinking.
'Holy fuck' he thought as he scratched his head, trying to look anywhere but her.
"Okay, we will leave." He hurriedly offered when she didn't look away from him. Yes, they would leave and he would try as much as possible to stay away from her!
Cecily's angry eyes snapped to Caleb's as her anger brewed again. Leave? Who gave him the permission to make decisions like this? Just when she was thinking of a good comeback, Caleb had to ruin everything.
"Good! Thanks for your time, I would love to be alone now." Kylie quickly added. She had intentionally stared at Caleb. Her intention had been to make him uncomfortable and gladly, it worked. She saw Cecily's angry look upon hearing his words so she quickly accepted it, before Cecily would say something else.
Seeing as there was nothing she could do, Cecily sighed in defeat.
"Okay then, good night." She snapped, flipping her hair as she prepared to leave with the little dignity she had left.
"Hold on, I need some money for food." Kylie interrupted, as she remembered she had no money on her.
"Pfft." Cecily hissed. How would she give her money when she's being a bitch?
"What is the issue? You already know I don't have any money on me and since you refused to get me food, I need some money to get some for myself."
"Surely, you can't expect me to spend on you when you can't even give me the respect I deserve as your mother." Cecily spat. The money wasn't the issue, giving Ayla was.
"Let me get something right. You would have spent the same money if you had bought the food yourself isn't it? why is it an issue to just give me the money? So it means I was right, you never intended on getting me food after all."
"You…."
"And you said I don't give you respect as a mother. Now tell me, dear mother, what have you ever done for me? As long as I can remember, I've always done what you've ever wanted but you never gave me a second glance___"
"There's no need to talk back to your mother in that manner. No issues, I'll give you some money for food." Caleb interrupted. Seeing the look in Cecily's eyes, he knew he would be the one to suffer the consequences afterwards so he was just trying to stop her from getting more angry and he also needed to be away from here.
"I wasn't talking to you, I'll let you know when you can talk."
