Kylie smiled when she heard Cecily's outburst. Damn, she couldn't wait to unsettle the woman even more.
"He is my fiancé, not yours…. How is it your business how much he decides to give me?" Kylie drawled, pursing her lips.
"Let's just go, please." Caleb weakly offered, staring at Cecily with pleading eyes.
"You will never see me here again!" Cecily uttered as she flung her hair and rushed out, Caleb trailing after her.
"Phew! Good riddance to bad rubbish!" Kylie muttered when they were finally gone. She had a lot to look into but first, getting better is her priority.
"Where do I even get food from?" Kylie then realised that she didn't even know where she was.
Turning, she stretched her hand and rang the bell close to her bed. The nurse from earlier had told her she could use it whenever she needed anything.
Shortly, a nurse came in and Kylie sighed in relief.
"Miss, do you need anything? Are you okay?" The nurse asked as she came to Kylie's bed side.
"Yes, I'm fine. Do you know where I can get some food, I'm hungry".
"Your family were here just now. They didn't get you any food?" The nurse was surprised. She had overhead the doctor when he had called the woman and asked them to bring food for the patient.
"They didn't and I'm famished." Kylie honestly answered.
"I could help you to get some, you don't have to stress," the nurse offered. The girl looked so weak she could easily be knocked over by a strong gust of wind.
"No, I would love to go by myself. I've been here for quite some time and I need a little form of exercise. Just give me the directions and I'll be back in a few minutes."
"No miss, you cannot go. You aren't strong enough, you are not even allowed to walk for now. Just place your order, we will get whatever you want."
Was this miss insane? She looked so weak and fragile right now and she's very sure that this miss cannot even take five steps without crumbling to the floor. If she allows her to go, what if something bad happens? She wasn't ready to lose her job.
"Just tell me where it is, that's all I need from you." Kylie persisted. She really wanted to walk and take a look at her surroundings, not lying down till she felt better.
"It isn't far, just outside the premises but still, you are not allowed to go. If you persist, I'll have to tell the doctor about it." The nurse threatened. She would waste no time to report the situation, rather than having to be in trouble because of this miss.
"Hmmm…." Kylie hummed as she thought hard. With the look on the nurse's face, she could tell there was no other option. But Kylie isn't the scared quiet girl that once owned this body. Kylie is a girl that does whatever she wants even if it lands her in trouble later on. She had concluded on taking a walk and getting her own food, that was final.
"Okay then. I need some time to think of what I want to eat. I'll ring the bell again when I finally make up my mind," Kylie said in a sincere voice. She kept her voice cool and soft so as not to arouse
suspicion.
"Are you sure about that? You just said you are famished, that was why you rang the bell." She raised her eyebrows in suspicion as she studied the girl that held a cold but reserved calmness in her sharp eyes.
"Yes, I just needed to speak with you first, before I know what to decide on. You see, I'm very picky with food." Kylie calmly explained, giving nothing away.
"Okay then. You can ring the bell again whenever you are ready, I'll be waiting." She replied. Taking one last look at the girl, she quietly left the room.
"Just outside the premises huh…" Kylie muttered as she recalled the words of the nurse.
She counted the money Caleb had given her and she saw it was $500, so she had $800 in total.
"This will work for now, the next thing is to leave this room and get some food without getting noticed." Kylie said as she sat up on the bed. After collecting herself for a few minutes, she slowly got off the bed and stood, quickly throwing a glance at the door.
Seeing no one, she carefully began taking slow steps as she walked towards the door, careful so she wouldn't stumble and fall. Her legs were still very weak but she could walk on her own.
When she finally got to the door, she slowly looked into the hallway, eyes wide and she tried to look for the nurse. Kylie smiled when she didn't see the nurse in sight so she stepped out and walked towards a door that held the sign 'EXIT'
Her eyes widened when she saw the nurse from earlier come out from another patient's room and start to walk towards her. Kylie was tempted to stop walking but she refused as she bowed her head and continued taking slow steps.
Before the nurse could get to her, a bell rang from the nearby rooms and the nurse turned and went in, to attend to the patient.
Kylie continued walking as a lazy smile tugged on her lips.
"Hey miss, are you lost?" a voice stopped Kylie.
She turned and saw it was another nurse that stared at her with concern.
"Uhm no, I'm not." Kylie calmly replied.
"Where are you headed? Your room? I could help you, you look tired." the nurse offered.
"No, I just need a moment. I'm heading to the exit to take some fresh air before heading back to my room."
"Okay. Will you be fine on your own? I could help you, if you want." She offered. Seeing the weak girl, she felt instant pity for her.
"No, thank you. I just need a moment." Kylie returned with a smile.
With a nod, the nurse turned and began walking again, leaving Kylie alone.
"Phew, that was close." Kylie muttered as she continued walking.
When she finally got to the exit, she could see the woman selling food some distance away from the hospital. It was a local food stand, which had only a few people around.
Kylie's nose came alive as she inhaled the sweet scent of her favorite meal on earth, Ramen noodles!
"Oh my love, I've missed you!" Kylie said loudly as she closed her eyes, enjoying the sweet scent that traveled in the cool evening breeze.
Her stomach grumbled in anticipation and before she knew, she was walking towards the food stand, her mouth watering.
