Chapter 4 - Shooting Star

Back at the Heavenly Palace, inside Cheon Ma's study, the warriors of the Justice Faction cowered away as the dark purple flame engulfed the room. A massive accumulation of energy gathered in the room, which was felt around the world. Quakes shook the earth, and the flame grew ever stronger, engulfing the entirety of the Heavenly Palace.

The remaining warriors of the Justice Faction surround the raging flames, unable to do anything but watch. With the Demonic Cult eradicated to extinction, they are confident that there shall be no more emergence of Cheon Ma, the Heavenly Demon. They rejoiced with their hearts and celebrated for they have finally attained the peace they wanted.

Their leader could not stop smiling as he thinks

With that, the position of Murim Lord is as good as mine. I am a genius! Striking the Cult before they could even recover from the Disaster is brilliant. Nipping the bud before it blooms, killing Cheon Ma before he could even transcend! I should thank my brothers and sisters who died fighting for me-

His thoughts was cut short when the dark flames started to be sucked into an orb as big as a closed fist. The flames condense and started to emanate a pulsing violet light. The warriors stopped their celebration and watched the orb cautiously. Then it happened, a massive explosion occured, which sent shockwaves that threw the warriors several meters away. The shockwave is so strong that it traveled around the world several times before dissipating completely.

The leader coughed up blood while trying to stand up. He winces in pain as he looked at his mangled arms and twisted legs. Flesh and bone juts out from his limbs as if someone twisted it like a towel. He starts to cry blood and groan in agony. He looks around the area to see the sundered bodies of his fellow warriors. Some were burned, some were shattered apart, and some were crushed. He is utterly confused to what just happened. Then, the orb started to suck in the shockwave it sent, pulling debris and bodies to it. He struggles to fight the force as he grabs the nearest rock with his mangled arms. He grits his teeth and endures for several minutes until it stopped. The orb, seemingly vanished.

Meanwhile, back in Dragon Ball Universe, a spaceship soars across the cosmos. Inside, there are two men clad in chest armor with shoulder pads that extends. They possess unique spiky hair, they have tails that they wrap around their armor like a belt and they wore a gadget on their left ear that extends to their left eye, called a scouter. One of them has a cross-shaped scar on his left cheek, while the other looks scrawnier.

"So, Bardock, what do you plan to do after we get home? Don't you have a newborn? Kakarot, was it?" The scrawny man said.

"I don't know Leek, maybe I will take a break. Spend some family time together with Gine, Raditz and Kakarot. And... I've been having these dreams, of dark purple flames." Bardock replies with a sigh. A tired expression painted his scarred face.

"I never took you for a family man... You know, given how savage you are on missions-" Leek says before he got cut off by the radio on his scouter.

"We have received an order to return! All Saiyans are to return to planet Vegeta." Leek says with an annoyed face.

"What?" Bardock exclaims with a surprise on his face. "What's he up to?..."

"Probably to give you an ass whooping that's what. Considering how you're always late on missions recently." Leek jokingly says.

"I'm telling you it's because I've been having these-" Bardock gets cut off by Leek.

"Dreams. Yeah, yeah, sure. I wonder what that bastard Freeza is up to now. Calling Saiyans in a massive scale. This is a first." Leek says annoyingly.

"Watch it. Take off your scouter they can hear you." Bardock warns with his scouter already removed.

"Oh, right..." Leek says as he removes his scouter. He looks out their spaceship and sees a spaceship hovering just outside their planet's orbit. The size of the massive ship dwarves the several other ships surrounding it. "Hey look, it's Freeza's ship!"

Bardock glances outside and says, "Looks like that bastard is planning something..."

(Play 'Bardock Falls' music for more dramatic effect)

They land their ship near a Saiyan Village. Their population is in the mere thousands. Their homes are simple mounds of hardened clay carved and moulded to form a cozy living space. On the streets, several stores sell butchered meat and dried food. What once was an almost empty village is now bustling with Saiyans. Ships arriving one by one dot the sky, and more Saiyans come out.

"Hey welcome back Bardock! Long time no see!" A man warmly says wearing the same armor as Bardock.

"Taro! So its true that asshat Freeza is calling everyone... Do you know why he assembled us?" Bardock replies with a smile.

"Yeah! They probably found a big super valuable fortress of a planet. They even called everyone on the Freeza force here. And apparently, there are talks about the Super Saiyan of Legend among them. Can you believe that? Hahaha!" Taro says with a hearty laugh.

"Super Saiyan? You mean like the Legend?" Bardock asks in surprise.

"I'm telling you, Bardock. This planet they found must have been nuts to make the Freeza Force even think of looking for the Super Saiyan! Anyway, I'll go meet with Fasha and the others. You should come too! Let the crew have one more get together before this big mission." Taro says while walking away.

Bardock nods and heads toward his home. It is quite unusual for Bardock to see the neighborhood be filled with Saiyans. Most Saiyans should have been out on missions or fighting. As he walks nearer to his home, he saw a faint glow of purple light shine inside his home. An ominous feeling suddenly wrings Bardock's guts. He drops his luggage and sprints toward his home to find Gine, his wife, a little bit shorter than him, she has kind eyes that reflects her personality, and the usual Saiyan long spiky hair. What Bardock expected to be a warm welcome from Gine was replaced by a raging Dark Purple Flame that engulfed their kitchen with Gine in the middle.

"GINE!!" Bardock shouts fearing for the worst.

Gine turns around. She cradles a baby with hair similar to Bardock's. The baby was sound asleep despite the raging flames on his body and around them.

"Everything's fine Bardock... This flame, is not hot at all." Gine smiles with a relief.

"This flame... Could it be? Kakarot?" Bardock mutters as he walks beside Gine.

Bardock gently caresses Kakarot's cheeks and feels the flame. It is not hot, but warm. It is not painful, but comforting. Gine started crying and laid her head on Bardock's shoulders.

"I don't know what happened. I was preparing your favourite food when all of a sudden... Kakarot, our baby, cried and all these flames... And I was scared..." Gine weeps.

Bardock quickly pulls out his scouter to read Kakarot's power level. Numbers shoot out in the reading and it says 250.

"What? 250? The last reading said his power level is 2!" Bardock says with a wide eye.

The numbers slowly decline from 250... 240... 200... 120... 80... 30... 10... Then finally stopped at 2. As the numbers decline, the flames also started to calm down, until there was no fire left. Bardock's thoughts began to race.

Could it be? Super Saiyan. This timing can't be a coincidence!

"Listen Gine. Tonight, I will steal a spacepod and send Kakarot to a distant planet." Bardock says seriously while crushing his scouter.

"WHAT?! Why would you do that? How could you send our baby away?" Gine exclaims.

"It's just a hunch. Freeza is plotting something... And I can't shake this feeling of death... Where is Raditz? I ought to send him with Kakarot." Bardock says with beads of sweat running down his forehead.

"Raditz is a soldier now. He works with Prince Vegeta on a remote planet." Gine says.

"The Prince huh... That troublemaker would be a bad influence on our boy." Bardock remarks.

Several hours later, in the dead of the night, Bardock and Gine sneaks through the wasteland carrying the spacepod that Bardock stole. Faint sobs, cry, and occassional banging of metal could be heard from the pod.

"Is there really no other way? Bardock, please... Can't we go with him? We can't just send him off alone!" Gine sobs while traversing the wastelands.

"This is for Kakarot's safety, and no, we can't, since they will find us through our power levels using their scouters. Don't worry, I will pick him up immediately if I was wrong." Bardock replies.

"This is unlike you to care for your sons. What happened?" Gine asks with a concerned expression.

"I don't know... Maybe your kindness finally rubbed off me. Or it could be that I was constantly fighting and destroying that I want to save something for once..." Bardock replies while deep in thought.

They placed the pod in a clear area. Bardock and Gine stares at Kakarot inside. Kakarot stops crying and stares back at his parents. Through the thick glass of the pod, he could barely hear the muffled voice of his parents.

"I've set the destination to a planet called 'Earth'. The inhabitants there have a relatively low power level and aren't technologically advanced. I think Kakarot would do well there." Bardock reassuringly says.

Gine faces Kakarot and places her hand on the glass and says, "Don't worry, we will come pick you up if this is just your father being such a worry-wart."

Bardock leans closer to the pod and says, "Don't stare too long at the full moon."

Kakarot's tears swell up one more time as the spacepod revs up. He could not understand what was happening. He places his hand over at Bardock's hand that leaned on the glass of the pod. He wanted to touch his parents. He wanted their warmth, and embrace.

"Live on, no matter what." Bardock says with sadness in his voice.

"We love you..." Gine sobs.

The spacepod shoots up in the sky like a shooting star.

"DON'T FORGET US KAKAROT!!!" Gine shouts as she breaks into tears and begins crying uncontrollably.

Bardock pulls Gine into a hug and calms her down, while staring at the spacepod.

Meanwhile at Freeza's mothership, Freeza is discussing the loss of an entire race of warriors at their disposal and what it could mean for the Freeza Force.

"Lord Freeza, I'm afraid the loss of the Saiyan Race is quite substantial. Perhaps we could..." One of Freeza's assistant says before he was cut off by Freeza himself.

"Indeed... However they are far too dangerous to be left ignored. They are, after all, a race made entirely of warriors." Freeza says with a smug look on his face as he begins to ascend outside his ship, overlooking the planet.

"So it's best to put the sleeping rabid dog down before it could even bare it's fangs." Freeza smiles devilishly as he lifts a finger up.

His finger glows with orange hue and on its tip, a Sun-like ball of energy the size of a fist appears and in no time, grew larger and larger until it is the size of the moon. The fiery ball of death was launched into the planet.

Bardock, wounded and his armor broken to pieces, makes his final stand and shoots a blast of energy with all the strength he could muster. He shouts vehemently as he puts more energy into his beam. The beam hits the ball of death but it did nothing. The ball of death was so large and bright that the Saiyans on the planet could not help but stare. They felt powerless as they accepted their fate. Gine looks up with worry and could only think of her family. The entire Planet Vegeta stood in silence as they watched the ball of death drew ever closer. Bardock did not give up, he screams even more as he poured everything he's got into his beam of energy. Soon, Bardock was swallowed by the ball of death, killing him. The ball of death hits the planet and kills everything in it. The planet explodes violently. Freeza laughs and rejoiced at the sight.

A few days later, the spacepod where Kakarot was, landed on Planet Earth like a shooting star. He was then found by Hyeon and Gohan.
