Aurora James - POV
"I was with Levi."
"Levi?" Elijah asked me, sounding confused. And at that moment, I saw Adrian slip into the room.
"Yes, the warrior who is assigned to train me. He was showing me around the pack borders." I told him when Elijah raised a questioning eyebrow at me.
"Why do you even bother knowing about their border when you are going to come back to our pack and be my Luna?" Elijah asked me in a sickly sweet voice, for anyone who doesn't know him well, they would have thought that he was concerned for my welfare, but I was able to see through his facade. He was boiling in anger right now, and he trying his best to not burst out.
A sarcastic smile formed on my face as I looked him in the eye. "I need to know the ins and outs of this pack, I am going to spend the rest of my life here, am I right, Alpha Alonso?" I asked him in a mocking tone.
"You are only staying here till you get better, Aurora," Elijah said, his voice slightly raised while I looked at Beta Perez through my peripheral vision, but he was still so focused on that cake that he was completely ignoring what was going on in there.
Well, I don't think that cake would be so intriguing in a few minutes from now, Zander.
"I am not your mate, Alpha Alonso. You rejected me, and I accepted your rejection. I am done pretending to be your mate." I asserted when I saw Alpha Lopez's eyes widen in surprise.
"You rejected him?" Alpha Lopez questioned, and I nodded my head.
"That is the reason I came to this pack, Alpha Lopez. It didn't work out between us, so we decided to end this. But it looks like Alpha Alonso doesn't understand what being rejected means." I said as I stared at him while I saw his hands curl into fists.
"You know the rules, Aurora. I can take you back to my pack as long as you do not have your mate in this pack or you are not mating with anyone in this pack." he asserted with an accomplished look on his face. I knew he would pull this card, but I am not going to back out of this right now.
"I am aware of the rules. And I have found my mate in here." I said and this was the first time since I walked into this room, I saw Beta Perez look at me. I saw confusion in his blank face as I turned my attention to a fuming Alpha. "I will be marrying the person I fell in love with," I told him, and right then, Levi walked into the room.
He stopped in front of me and wrapped his arm around my waist, he pulled me closer to him. "We will be getting married soon," I told him, and I think I had already struck the last nerve because I saw Alpha Alonso's nails elongate while fur sprouted in his skin.
"He is a lowly warrior, and you want to mate with him instead of an Alpha?" Alpha Alonso growled when I heard a chair scrape, and Beta Perez was up on his feet as well.
"I am only looking for peace and a stable life, Alpha Alonso. And Levi can provide me with that." I said when he shook his head before his attention was turned towards Levi.
"So you are that bastard who gave her blood to save her the other day?" Alpha Alonso growled, but Levi didn't answer, Alpha Alonso turned back to me. "Have you gone crazy, Aurora? How can you point at some random man and claim that he is your mate?"
"I am not crazy, Alpha Alonso. I am just moving on. You made a decision when you chose Scarlet over me. And everything between us ended the day you rejected me, and I accepted your rejection." I asserted while I saw his eyes rapidly change color, and his face was turning red in anger.
He didn't have an answer to that question because he knew he could not deny that fact. "You cannot marry another man, Miss. James." everyone turned around to see Beta Perez walk towards me. His tone didn't convey any emotions, but I saw the anger swirling in his eyes. "What would you tell your second chance mate? You know every wolf is given a second chance mate, if you reject the first one?" he challenged.
"If my first mate is an absolute jerk, then I know my second mate would not be anything better," I said when I saw him discreetly shake his head, telling me to not provoke him.
"What about Levi's mate then? Would you leave him when she comes along?" Beta Perez taunted me while I felt the smile on my face flatter. I felt Levi's hold on my hand tighten, but I didn't want to ruin his life for my own selfish reasons.
"Miss. James, we need to hear your answer." Alpha Lopez insisted. I have gone through a lot, and I know the pain of seeing your mate with another woman, and I am not going to let Levi's mate go through that as well.
"I…"
"I don't think we have to worry about that, Alpha Lopez." Levi interrupted as I stared at him in puzzlement. My heartbeat was erratic. "My mate died a few years ago." my eyes widen in horror. I didn't know if he was lying for me or if this was the truth.
"Levi." Beta Perez said in a warning tone.
"I am not lying, Beta Perez. She died in front of me, and Gamma Acosta was with me that day."
"Is this true?" Alpha Lopez asked his Gamma, and Adrian nodded his head. An uncomfortable silence descended in the room when Alpha Lopez finally let out a sigh and turned around to face Alpha Alonso.
"You know the rules, Alpha Alonso. Once you have rejected your mate and she has accepted your rejection, you cannot claim her back. You will be dealt with severe punishment for that."
