Thalina backed away from the jaguar slowly, her heart hammering against her ribs. Its glowing, predatory eyes locked onto her, making her feel like a cornered rabbit.
Was this one of the palace males? Or was it an actual wild animal?
If it was a male, why wasn't he transforming? Unless...
She didn't get to finish the thought. The jaguar suddenly lunged, and before she could scream, it transformed mid-air into a tall, striking alien.
Her gasp caught in her throat. Fear turned to dread as she realized who it was. Of course, it had to be him.
