"Ah!" Thalina suddenly shrieked, clutching her ankle with both hands as her face twisted into an exaggerated grimace.
"How can you both ask such irrelevant questions while I'm clearly in so much pain?" Her voice wavered with just the right amount of theatrics to snap both males out of their probing curiosity.
Zorath jerked upright, his golden eyes wide as panic flickered across his face. "Ah, ah, you're right!" He quickly waved a hand in the air as if to shoo away the topic like an annoying fly.
"Why would you ask such stupid questions?!" His voice rose sharply as he turned on Calix, who visibly flinched, his guilt written all over his blue-tinted features.
"I'm sorry! I'll focus!" Calix stammered, clutching a nearby glass vial as if it could shield him from Zorath's wrath.
Thalina exhaled deeply, relief washing over her. Dodged it for now. But how long can I keep avoiding this question?
