Strange things began happening in the cafeteria. Odel's three vampire fiancés suddenly acted very differently than usual. Instead of teasing, causing trouble, or trying to get her attention, this time they took seats far away from Odel. They appeared distant, more focused on their own plates, and didn't interact with Odel as they usually did. It seemed like something was bothering them, but Odel couldn't understand what.
"Are you sure you didn't scold them?" Fiona whispered softly, her eyes glancing at the three handsome men sitting far away.
"Uh, maybe a little scolding! But I don't think that's the reason," Odel replied, feeling strange.
There was nothing special in her words or actions, but something felt different. An unusual awkwardness hung in the air between them. They usually tried to get her attention or treat her a certain way, but now they were eating in silence, with no possessive gazes, competition, or flirting that they usually showed.
"Ah, forget it, let's eat!" Fiona distracted Odel, trying to stay relaxed, though this unusual atmosphere also bothered her.
While the two women gossiped and talked about campus activities, Adrian only observed. However, he couldn't ignore the stares from the three vampires, who, though not moving much, still watched every move Odel and Fiona made from afar. Their sharp eyes were full of threat, but there was one thing that caught Adrian's attention—a sly smile on their faces. It was as if they had just won a major battle that wasn't over yet, which made Adrian even more eager to stir things up.
Adrian saw this as an opportunity to heat up the situation. He felt it was inappropriate for creatures of the dark to disturb a normal human life. The mysterious man seemed to know that the three men who were glaring at him with hatred were vampires.
"Odel! What's your favorite food?" Adrian asked, his voice full of enthusiasm and a bit loud, as if he wanted everyone to hear.
"Me? Uh, pasta with lots of meat and cheese," Odel replied, slightly surprised by the question. She furrowed her brows for a moment but eventually smiled.
"Quite simple, huh? I know a great pasta place near our campus. Would you like to go there? I can take you later," Adrian offered, trying to liven up the mood. He purposely threw a glance at the three vampires sitting farther from Odel, as if signaling them clearly.
"Alright, maybe another time," Odel finally replied, nodding slightly.
Fiona glanced at Adrian suspiciously, then turned her gaze back to Odel. "Hey, aren't you going to ask for my opinion?" Fiona finally interrupted the conversation that seemed to be leading to a plan she didn't know about.
Adrian and Odel exchanged glances, both looking confused before they answered almost simultaneously.
"What about you, Fiona?" Adrian and Odel asked in unison, their voices overlapping.
Fiona just chuckled. "You two are funny. I just want to know, do you really think you can make decisions without my opinion? If so, I'll just keep quiet."
Adrian smiled amusedly. "Oh, of course! We know your opinion is very valuable, Fiona. But how about we all eating together? It could be fun, right?"
"True, maybe I'll join later, but not at the place Adrian picked," Fiona replied, jokingly. She grinned as if she knew exactly what Adrian was trying to do.
Of course, behind the light conversation, it was a challenge for Clayton and the other two vampires.
"Did you see that, Clayton! That guy just loudly invited our fiancée to eat outside!" Daffin whispered.
"I heard it clearly too! What a troublemaker!" Emilio added, annoyed.
Meanwhile, Clayton gritted his teeth, holding back his jealousy, staring at the other two vampires.
"Pretend you didn't hear it, just keep eating!" Clayton said.
As the three vampires tried to act normal, three girls approached. They were Kara, Selena, and Vera, the popular girls on their campus. They were even wearing fairly daring clothes, even for just attending class. They seemed to intentionally seek attention, sitting down and starting to chat.
Kara started the conversation. "Hey, Clayton, can we sit here?" she asked.
"This is a public place, and you're already sitting. Why still ask?" Clayton answered coldly.
Kara and the other two girls looked embarrassed, but somehow, they seemed more challenged to conquer the cold man.
"Well, I guess we'll eat here then, since you're not stopping us," Selena chimed in with a coquettish look, gazing at Daffin.
Daffin looked at the girl with a disgusted expression, but when he tried to stand up and leave, Clayton stopped him.
"Sit down! I have an idea!"
Daffin looked at Clayton, then caught the signal from him. It seemed Clayton wanted to try interacting with the girls to see Odel's reaction.
Not understanding the situation, Emilio, who was also approached by a girl named Vera, remained calm. This was because Vera wore a revealing outfit around her neck, which appeared quite tempting to him.
"So, you guys just started college this year, right? Don't you find it overwhelming?" Vera asked casually.
"Oh, we're busy with our studies, but sometimes we need a break too. How about you? What are the beautiful ladies up to on campus?" Clayton answered with a charming look.
Clayton glanced at Daffin and Emilio with a slight smile, signaling for them to join the conversation. The conversation with the girls began. The girls appeared shy while the men acted like charming predators. From a distance, they looked like a blind dating couple that found mutual interest.
Odel, from a distance, started to observe. She felt puzzled by the vampires' unusual behavior.
"Hey, it looks like your three cousins are starting to get along with the girls," Fiona murmured.
"That's actually good! They won't bother me anymore," Odel replied, looking relaxed.
"Three beautiful girls and three handsome guys, a perfect match," Adrian commented.
Odel stayed silent, observing her three vampire fiancés and then finishing her meal. Afterward, her gaze swept over the three vampires, who were chatting with the girls.
With a casual pace, she started walking toward them, making the three vampires hold their breath for a moment, trying to read Odel's reaction. They felt as though they had successfully triggered Odel's jealousy.
"Here she comes!" Clayton whispered to Daffin.
Daffin nodded and signaled to Emilio. It seemed they were trying to create a follow-up reaction to anticipate Odel's jealousy, possibly with soft flirtation or a calming hug.
The three exchanged glances, holding back laughter and waiting for Odel's reaction. They hoped Odel would feel jealous or scold them harshly for talking to other girls. But nothing of that sort happened.
When Odel reached their table, she just smiled faintly.
"It looks like you guys are having a fun lunch, huh? Maybe I should leave for a little longer so you can have more time to chat with them."
Odel threw a glance at Kara, Selena, and Vera, who smiled warmly.
Clayton, usually quick to react, tried to smile and respond.
"We're just having a casual chat, Odel. There's nothing wrong with that, right?"
"Yeah, there's nothing wrong, go ahead. I support you all going on dates! Oh, and one more thing. I have something to do after class, so don't look for me or call me," Odel added.
"Huh?" Clayton was stunned by Odel's words, as if the girl had just cast them aside.
"Odel! Are you done? Let's go!" Fiona shouted.
"Yeah, Fiona, I'm coming!" Odel replied.
Looking at the three men again, Odel emphasized once more.
"Remember! Don't bother me! Enjoy your date, I'm leaving now! Bye!" she said with a cheerful smile, as if she had just gained freedom.
Odel ran toward Fiona and Adrian, and the three of them left together. The most annoying part was that Adrian turned to wave at the three vampires with a victorious smile.
