Chereads / Vampire Secret Agreement / Chapter 18 - 18. Hounted House

Chapter 18 - 18. Hounted House

Odel, unaffected by the behavior of her three fiancés, calmly leaves the cafeteria with Fiona and Adrian. She didn't even seem to mind seeing the three men surrounded by beautiful girls. In contrast, Clayton, Daffin, and Emilio exchanged glances, their expressions turning sour.

"Damn! She doesn't even care!" Daffin exclaimed.

"I figured this wouldn't work," Emilio added with a sigh.

Feeling like his efforts were in vain, Clayton stood abruptly and left the table. The girls sitting with them looked puzzled and began asking questions.

"Clayton, where are you going?" Kara asked.

"None of your business. Go find someone else to chat with!" Clayton replied curtly.

He walked away, and soon after, Daffin and Emilio followed, as if they had lost interest entirely.

"Are you two leaving as well?" Selena asked.

"Yes. Odel's not here anymore. What's the point of us staying?" Emilio answered bluntly.

Both of them caught up with Clayton, leaving the girls with no further interest in the conversation. Kara, Selena, and Vera exchanged irritated looks.

Selena, typically the calmest of the group, finally spoke up. "What was that? Who do they think we are?!" she said, slamming her hand on the table.

"They're obviously rude! Acting sweet at first, then walking out just like that!" Kara added, her voice rising in frustration.

Vera, who had been silent the whole time, scoffed. "I think they were just toying with us. Maybe that's how they usually behave. And did you hear what they said? Odel! Who is she, anyway? It's obvious she's the only reason they were here in the first place."

"Wait, are you saying they like that girl?!" Kara asked in shock.

"Are you blind? It's so obvious. And she's not even as pretty as us!" Selena said, attempting to soothe her bruised ego.

"But I must admit one thing," Vera said, crossing her arms. "Those three are... undeniably handsome. If only they weren't so rude."

"You're right! We should find a way to get their attention! And as for Odel, why don't we play a little trick on her?" Kara suggested with a malicious smile.

"Great idea!" Selena responded with a wicked laugh.

Meanwhile, Odel, Fiona, and Adrian decide to head to an amusement park.

"There's a new ride that's super fun. You have to try it!" Fiona exclaimed.

"I thought we were supposed to work on our group project," Odel said, raising an eyebrow.

"Why is the group project all you think about, Odel? It's not due until next week. What's the harm in having a little fun?" Fiona replied.

"Fiona's right. Don't be so serious. Going to the amusement park sounds like a great idea," Adrian chimed in.

"Hey, Odel, did you hear that? Even Adrian agrees!" Fiona said excitedly.

"Yes, because the rest of the work is yours," Adrian added with a sly grin.

"You're right, Adrian. Let's just leave the rest to Fiona. Why should we worry?" Odel laughed out loud.

"Oh, come on, you two! Fine, I'll finish the rest. I just didn't expect you to dump the grade outcome on me," Fiona replied sarcastically.

"Oh no! Her threat is terrifying! I don't want to repeat the class another year!" Adrian joked dramatically.

They burst out laughing. Though they had just recently met, the three of them felt a surprising level of understanding of one another.

That evening, they did end up going to the amusement park, buying tickets, trying various rides, and eventually stopping in front of the haunted house.

"Are you serious about going into the haunted house, Fiona?" Odel asked, eyeing the eerie building with its bold sign reading "Haunted Mansion: Nightmare Realm."

"Of course! This is going to be so much fun! Don't tell me you're scared, Odel!" Fiona challenged excitedly.

"I don't think I'll be scared," Odel replied.

"If either of you gets scared, you can hold on to me inside. I won't count it as harassment," Adrian teased.

"You wish, you lizard!" Fiona shot back.

"Just don't beg to hold on to me later, okay?" Adrian retorted playfully.

"Enough with the bickering! Are we going in or not?" Odel interrupted.

"Go ahead then!" Fiona replied as she immediately walked ahead.

As soon as they stepped into the haunted house, the atmosphere grew tense. The air inside felt cold, the dim light cast strange shadows on the walls, and the sound of wind whooshing could be heard from hidden speakers. Fiona walked confidently to the front, while Adrian stayed behind Odel.

"Come on, you guys are acting like little kids," Fiona said, though her voice trembled slightly.

"Fiona, if you're scared, just say so," Adrian teased with a sly smile.

"Who's scared? I'm just—" Fiona didn't get to finish her sentence when, suddenly, a doll's hand shot out from behind the wall, almost touching her shoulder.

"Aaaaahhh!" Fiona screamed, jumping back and nearly bumping into Odel.

"Really brave, huh," Odel said flatly, holding back a laugh.

Adrian laughed loudly, but as they walked further, the wooden floor beneath them creaked loudly. From the floor, a terrifying doll's head with glowing red eyes emerged. Adrian was startled and took a step back.

"Whoa! That almost gave me a heart attack!" he exclaimed, clutching his chest.

"This is just the beginning," Fiona said, trying to hide her fear.

The next corridor was lined with large mirrors reflecting their shadows. In one mirror, Odel's reflection suddenly had glowing red eyes. Fiona saw it and screamed again, quickly hiding behind Odel.

"Did you see that?! What was that?!" Fiona pointed at the mirror, trembling.

"It's just a lighting effect. Calm down," Odel replied without showing any emotion.

"How can you stay so calm like that?" Adrian asked, looking at Odel, impressed.

"Because I know it's all fake, what's there to be afraid of?" Odel answered as she walked casually through the mirror corridor.

They arrived in a dark room with faint screaming sounds in the background, and the door behind them suddenly slammed shut on its own, causing Fiona to jump again. In the middle of the room, a vampire-like doll emerged from a coffin, its eyes following their movements. Its fangs bared, with drops of blood hanging from between its teeth. Fiona screamed hysterically, thinking that part was the scariest.

"Calm down, Fiona, it's just a doll. This fake vampire won't bite you!" Odel said, stepping forward confidently and pushing the vampire doll back into its coffin.

"You just sleep, vampire! Don't bother us!" Odel cursed.

"Are you crazy? How can you be so brave?" Fiona asked.

"Because if you knew real vampires, they are much scarier," Odel replied.

"What? You're talking as if you've seen a real vampire, Odel," Fiona said, looking at her in disbelief.

"Haha, of course not. Vampires are just myths," Odel answered, realizing her words might stir trouble and quickly tried to cover them up.

Unlike Fiona, Adrian was able to draw conclusions from what Odel said. He just watched Odel quietly, then smiled as if he was planning something.

Outside the haunted house, three men were lurking in the shadows, who else but Clayton, Daffin, and Emilio, who decided to keep an eye on Odel from a distance.

"They went in here?" Daffin asked.

"Yeah, I think so," Emilio replied.

"But this is a haunted house," Daffin said hesitantly.

"Don't tell me you're scared! You're the ghost, stupid! Your shadow doesn't even show in the mirror!" Clayton taunted.

"Oh, right! Hey, you're right! Alright, let's go follow them!" Daffin said.

Clayton sighed. Sometimes his two brothers were a bit goofy. But he didn't expect them to even forget about their own identities.

Finally, they decided to go inside. Daffin walked slowly into the haunted house, his steps uncertain even though he tried to look calm. Emilio walked behind him, appearing relaxed but feeling that the place was strange.

"I didn't expect humans to make games like this. Do they really enjoy being scared?" Emilio said, confused.

"Humans are silly!" Clayton replied.

In front, Daffin, who was leading the way, tried to stay as calm as possible as strange ghosts appeared. He bit his lower lip to keep himself from screaming in surprise. But when the coffin shifted, and he saw the vampire, the man screamed at the top of his lungs.

"Aargh! Ugly vampire, get out of my sight!" Daffin yelled, instinctively snapping the vampire doll's neck.
