Chapter 11 - An Unexpected Moment

Draken looked at Darius in surprise:

"Currently, this country is not ruled by the government, nor are the hunters citizens from the beast, but above them all is the hunter's guild, and we will make sure you stand shoulder to shoulder with us."

"Why are you offering me this?"

"You know about the five great guilds, don't you? The balance of the country is barely maintained by these five guilds. If you join one of these five guilds, the whole balance will be upset and the country will fall into chaos. What will you decide?"

Draken looked at Darius:

"You are as great as I thought you were, Darius Greystone, and so are your abilities... Although I have reached this level, our abilities are very similar... This is not an opportunity you get every day..." said Draken.

"I'm sorry, but I want to fight," Draken replied.

"You want to fight monsters?"

"Yes. The dungeons are where I'm needed. I'm sorry, but I must go home."

"Thank you for your time."

Draken said, looking at the other hunter as he passed through the door:

"Mr Hunter, your intuition was right. I didn't kill the boss in the ice dungeon."

The hunter was shocked.

Thorn and the S-rank hunter were fighting. Punches and kicks were flying in the air. Thorn threw a punch at the hunter. The hunter staggered back. And for a moment the room lit up:

"A dream...was it a dream?" the hunter asked herself. He was in the hospital. Suddenly the warden walked in.

"What do you want from a loser, you old geezer? If you have something to say, say it now and leave."

"This guy Thorn Nightfall... is he really a monster?"

"Are you implying that I attacked an ordinary man? He's a real monster."

"Got it, come to my office when you're better. There's a lot of paperwork to go through."

"What happened to that man?" asked the Hunter.

"He disappeared after he fought you. The office is after him, but I don't think we can catch someone who beat you."

"Damn it! It was a humiliating defeat."

Suddenly, the hunter started remembering things from the fight.

"Don't ever set foot in Korea. I'm not saying this for my son, I'm saying this for you. You'll keep your eyes open long after you're dead." Thorn said with a horrible yellow aura.

"Oh, damn it. When I'm fully recovered, I'll tear you to pieces."

"Here is the file you requested, sir."

"He took this photograph four years ago? He's got a boyish face now," Darius said.

"This is a record of the past four years, when he was known as the weakest, even among the E-rank."

"He kept getting hurt, but he didn't quit. He's a rare breed of young man."

"President, there's actually information that the hunter Draken Nightfall has already joined an assault unit."

"Already?"

"According to confirmed sources. Hunter Draken Nightfall has joined a landing party instead of an assault unit."

"An S-rank hunter working as a digger... a really obscure guy."

"Are you an E-rank hunter?"

"Yes, sir."

"Do you have experience in this profession?"

"No, sir."

"Then... what type of fighter are you?"

"Physical fighter, sir."

"Oh well, there's no one like you here. Don't be too tense and work diligently."

"Okay."

"Even the pickaxe contains magic...So this is an A-rank portal...I'm glad I decided to come here...After all, I'll have to enter such a dungeon in the near future."

"This time the dungeon is too deep. The agreed time has already passed. The other troops will be disturbed if we stay here any longer as the humans have plans.GET OUT." said Aiden in a cold voice.

The demons appeared and ran towards Aiden.

"I'm not a big fan of a very bright room...but..." said Aiden and started to create a flame in his hand.

He burnt all the demons to ashes with a huge flame spell. Draken, looking at the tanks:

"Tanks, get into position. There will be a storm."

The tanks got into position. They were protecting Aiden. The whole room was engulfed in flames.

"I didn't overdo it. After all, if they're too scorched, we won't be able to collect their bodies. We don't know how deep the dungeon is, but the monsters near it must have been incinerated. I'll guide you all to safety."

"TAUNTING UNION COMING OUT! GET READY! WE'RE GOING IN SOON!" "

At last they're done for," said Draken.

"THE NUMBER TWO OF THE HUNTERS IS COMING OUT! THAT GIRL...THE ASSISTANT MASTER!" S-RANK CHAE ROSE!!!"

"HOW MANY WOMEN IN THE WORLD HAVE THAT KIND OF ENERGY? AT LEAST AT CHAE ROSE'S LEVEL. MAYBE HIGHER."

For a moment Chae and Draken locked eyes.

"Huh? I felt like I sensed someone powerful...was I wrong? For a moment I thought Master Aiden was here...that feeling just vanished...there's no way someone like Master Aiden would stop by to say hello." She said thoughtfully.

"What's the matter, Mr Draken? We must go inside."

"Yes, sir."

Draken and the team entered the dungeon.

"Wind in the dungeon? It's not normal wind. It's waves of magical energy. It must be coming from the archdemon." Draken said to himself.

"Did you guys hear that? The newcomer is an E-rank."

"What? They hired an E-rank?!"

"Yeah."

"Is the team leader in his right mind?"

"Can an E-rank hunter control his stamina?!"

"Exactly, exactly."

"So E-rankers get the same treatment no matter where they are... Anyway... I'm not going to hang around here too long," Draken said to himself.

"HEY, FIT OUR SPEED!" a large figure shouted at Draken.

Draken gave him a cold look.

"N-what...whatever...it happens."

Draken walked away.

"Is this guy really E-rank?" the man from earlier asked himself.

"You must be stunned to see an A-rank dungeon for the first time."

"Yes, the monsters are bigger than I expected," said Draken.

"Doesn't the prospect of a horrible monster looming behind you frighten you?" asked Draken again.

"No. I've lived in the hunters' guild for three years and nothing like this has ever happened."

"Ignorance is sometimes bliss," Draken said to himself, "and even if the Archbeast doesn't move, it still releases enough magic to send shivers down the spine.

He got down to work, immersing himself in his work.

"Team leader, didn't you say it was the first time?"

"Yes." the leader replied with a puzzled look.

"Then how can you explain this?"

"Mr Draken...certainly a member of a landing party blessed by the heavens."

It was time for dinner. Everybody was eating in their own corner.

"Aren't you coming, Mr Draken?"

"No, I've eaten."

"As you wish."

"I'm alone at last, I can't miss an opportunity like this. I've got an hour," said Draken to himself.

He ran with unseen speed in the direction of the magical energy.

"I'll have a look and come back."

Draken arrived at the creature's location.

"A giant-type archbeast? Strong, definitely, very strong. My current strength should be enough, but... my conscience tells me it would be wrong... Should I cut it down?" he thought to himself.

"HEY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE?" came a voice from behind.
